Fanfic #151 A Song of Ice and Sand by Thread Malick the last Light (Asoiaf/Naruto)

This fanfic is a crossover between A song of Ice and Fire and Naruto following Gaara in the world of ASOIAF. I really like this fic because it has major world exploration and it follows Gaara a character I don't see a lot of.

Synopsis: The Targaryen with Red Hair.

Here's the first chapter:

Lewyn Martell had to fight hard with himself to rise from his bed when the first beams of light entered his chamber.

He knew what the day or rather his prince had in store for him today. Since the prince was born, the knight of Dorne scarcely had a calm minute to himself. The young Prince was… special to say the least. He would spend most of his time either inside his chambers, or as the prince preferred, on the beaches outside of Kings Landing. And though his niece thankfully was able to convince her Son to remain in his chambers most of the time to make his job infinitely easier to protect him, today? Well today was Beach Day.

Each week no matter how much his mother tried to bribe the boy with foods or presents he would go to the beach. Nobody could really stop the prince. Whenever anybody aside from his family even came close to him the sand he surrounded himself with at all times would make certain of it. Lewyn was never a particularly religious man. He believed in what he saw. Not in myths of magic and gods. All those things were long gone, if they ever existed in the first place as far as he was concerned. But since his great nephew was born? He was starting to become a lot more uncertain when it came to myths and magic. Gaara was calm. Eerily so. The Boy was a toddler. Barely out of his diapers.

Yet he never screamed. Or for that matter cried. He was seemingly not afraid of anything in the world. Though perhaps understandable considering the circumstances of who he was. He was the prince and eventually would be the ruler of the entire continent… and yet that was not what made him so powerful. What exactly it was that gave the prince his abilities he would likely never know. Maybe the gods granted him their blessings. Maybe the boy was a sorcerer. Seven Hells perhaps the boy was a god himself. He did not know. All he knew? Was that Gaara was powerful. His power was not that of titles. He had real tangible abilities. Sand obeyed his will. And from what Lewyn could observe? Acted independently of him to protect him. No Weapon could pierce his Skin. The Sand would not allow it. Arrows. Blades. Fists. Nothing would pierce the sand. It was fast. Fast and strong.

When he first disappeared from the castle the Boy was found 2 hours later on the beaches of Kings Landing for the first time. Constructing giant towers and shapes from sand. Some smallfolk tried to approach and take the Boy. To perhaps get a reward for bringing the wayward Prince back. At first, he was merciful. He simply encased the Beach in a large Wall of Sand and continued to play. But once a few of the more eager Peasants climbed the wall and tried to touch Gaara? The Boy threw them into the sea. The beach formed a large hand. Grabbed all 4 of the peasants, and threw them into the Sea. 2 of them nearly drowned. Once they washed up on the shore of Kings Landing eventually they wisely fled the scene. They ran to the sand wall and once it was made clear to the young prince they wished to leave a hole formed, the Peasants ran through it, and he closed it again. The Dumber of them? Called him a demon. And drew a Dagger. He then from what he knew stormed at the boy. Ready to kill him.

From the state of the body that Lewyn found Gaara must not have liked that. If you could even call it a body anymore. It looked like a dragon stomped on the poor fool with all its might. Once Lewyn and his Mother arrived at the Beach there was little to do but convince the Boy to return to his chambers. Elia pleaded with the boy. Begged him to never run away like that again. To the childs credit he seemed ashamed to have caused his mother so much worry. So the next time he went to the beach? He would tell his Mother. Though the Kid was still young, he at least could say some Words. His favorite Words aside from mother and sister? Sand and beach.

Lewyn had to escort the boy, his mother and sister down towards the beach several times since then. The Boy at least was kind enough to inform the old Knight beforehand, so he could get a few of the City- Guard together to make sure none of the smallfolk got the dumb idea to mess with the Boy. Or gods help them his sister or mother. Today was such a day. Beach day. Once he was done putting on his armor and made his way towards the young princes chambers he knew he would find the boy ready and waiting. And he would not be disappointed. Gaara awaited the old knight with a annoyed look once he had opened his Chambers Doors.

"Late" the small Prince spoke with perhaps a hint of annoyance in his Voice.

Sighing to himself he sunk to one knee to be at least somewhat on eye level with the prince. "I am sorry you grace. These old bones are not as quick as they once were"

The Boy seemed disinterested to hear his excuses. True he was old. But not that old.

"Go now" he spoke. Not wanting to delay his day at the beach longer then absolutely necessary. His sister, princess Rhaenys seemed equally eager too get to the beach. Aside from his mother, and perhaps Lewyn on a few days, Rhaenys was the only Person who the prince let close to him. After hugging her brother which caused a rare smile to appear on the boys face, she tried to run outside the chambers as quick as her little legs could carry her, without speaking so much as a word towards his Kingsguard.

"Rhaenys, is that a way to greet family?" said the old Knight as he caught princess and held her high in the air. Rhaenys giggled "sorry uncle Lewy"

Lewyn slowly let go of the girl and ruffled lightly through her hair "i cant stay mad at you my dear. Just slow down a bit in the future alright? The beach isn't going anywhere"

While Rhaenys nodded her head smiling her younger brother looked less amused "Beach stays. Sun goes"

Lewyn regarded him with a apologetic look "true enough your grace. Shall we be going then?"

The only answer Lewyn received was him forming a floating piece of sand underneath his feet and flying outside the door over Lewyns Head.

The Old Knight shaking his head glanced at the small princess, picked her up again and placed her on his Shoulders. "Well we better follow your Brother right dear?"

Rhaenys eagerly agreed, and so they made their way to the beach. Sadly Elia would not be joining them today. Some important business was apparently going to be discussed between Rhaegar and her. Well no matter.

He would be able to entertain the two kids for the Day at least. Though he hoped that this would not turn into a regular occurrence. If he and Rhaenys did not have their Mother with them they tended to be cranky. And while he could handle a cranky Rhaenys easily enough? Gaara? Well... he was a different beast entirely wasn't he?
