Mother and son talk

"Mom!??"

I shout right as I enter my house.

I placed Marcia on a sofa and pick up my phone to look at the time.

Then I realize that I had forgotten something. I was so busy with the whole accident of today that I didn't remember mom and aunt Evlin were going shopping to get some new clothes today. They kept saying how they wanted tomorrow to feel special.

"Ugh..." I whispered. They would probably return in a couple of minutes or so.

I looked at Marcia and saw that she was moving her head all over the place while inspecting my house.

I asked if she was hungry, to which she nodded, and prepared a snack for us.

While we waited for my family to arrive, we started to chat about some random things while eating. In part because I was curious about a few things and in part because I needed to distract myself. It would be better to talk with my family after I calmed down a little.

Although Marcia also had some things she was curious about. She would ask about how vehicles worked, why I kept looking at my phone all the time, why nobody was carrying a weapon in case they got attacked, and some other things that showed she really was from another world.

On my end, I started to ask about how exactly magic worked in case I needed to try using it again.

"First of all, you can't use magic without a piece of the channeling tree" she commented.

"The wha...?"

She took a bite out of her sandwich and pointed at the wooden sword that I had placed over the table.

"Your staff! Every beginner mage needs a staff. This wood comes from a special tree that allows you to channel the magic inside of you out of your body. After that, it's your job to give the magic a shape depending on your natural element and affinity."

"Natural element and affinity...?" she was starting to lose me. Should I write this stuff down?

"Each mage has an element that works best for them amongst the others. You can tell which one yours is by checking your eye color."

"My eye color?"

"Yes! Six eye colors for six elements. Blue for water, brown for earth, green for wind, amber for fire, hazel for light, and grey for darkness. Any mage can use any element, but your natural element will always be much more powerful than the rest!"

I see. So that's why it was so easy for me to summon Eclipse even though it was my first time doing that. Come to think of it, he is probably still inside the shadows, I gotta remember to take him out later...

"But wait... You didn't need a staff to make all those walls of boxes..." I noted.

"That's not magic" she explained, "That was my blessing."

"Right... Blessing... Right..." I really should write this down, "And the difference is...?"

"Magic is a power from humans, while blessings are powers given from gods to the humans!"

"... ... ..."

She just continued to finish her food while completely ignoring the fact that she just told me gods were a thing as well.

Seriously, what exactly is this world she lives in???

"This is a lot to take in..." I commented while slowly putting my sandwich down.

"Really? I could actually eat more..." she commented while taking my food from me.

"I wasn't talking about the- Ugh... Never mind..."

I heard the doors from my house being opened and jumped out of my chair.

"They're here!!" I shouted with joy.

"Oh... This is the first time in a while that I've seen your mother and miss Evlin... I hope I don't look too indecent..." Marcia commented while brushing her hair.

Finally, I would hear everything from my mother. Why was I brought to this world? Why was that dragon guy after me? Would he come after me again? Where was dad? Why did he stay behind? Why did he never visit us?? nd most of all, could we see him again?? Finally, everything would make sense. Hopefully...

"You okay...?" Marcia asked while noticing me shaking like a cellphone.

"I just don't know where to even begin with this whole thing. So many things to ask..."

The doors opened, and three women, all with black hair, stepped in, one adult, one teenager, and another adult with a little girl around the age of ten holding her hand.

My mother, Lilith, my aunts Ellie and Evlin, and her daughter, Kelly.

They all looked at me and Marcia with their eyes wide open and completely froze as they were coming in. Well... Except for my mom, of course.

"Mom..." I started, "We need to talk..."

My mother just tilted her head and began to speak, but for some reason, not to me, "Evlin...? Evlin, what was that?"

"Mom?" I asked, wondering why she ignored me.

Ant Evlin and Ellie for some reason assumed some kind of battle stances and started to frown at us. I looked at Marcia and she seemed just as lost as me.

"Lilith, two dragons entered the house! You gotta grab Ellie!" my aunt Evlin replied while picking her daughter and stepping back.

Two dragons? What was she talking about??

"Dragons?? Here?? Now?? How is this possible??" my mother gasped.

"I don't know! But they're not gonna be here for long!" Ellie replied while still glaring at us like we were criminals that had barged into their home.

I just looked around the house to search for any dragons like Kurt but Marcia and I were the only ones in there.

"Mother, calm down, there are no dragons here!" I tried to say but she just grabbed aunt Ellie's hand and the two started to glow out of nowhere.

"Something is wrong..." Marcia commented.

The light faded and... I don't even know how to explain what happened next...

Ellie had completely vanished and my mother was now standing in front of us with a silver sword in her hand and with her hair completely white for some reason. What's more, her eyes were now open. She was looking right at us. She could see again!

"Mother?? Mother what are you doing??" I asked.

"You are not welcome here! Begone!" she replied while rushing at me and waving her sword on a vertical swing aimed at me.

"MOTHER!!!???"

Marcia grabbed my arm and pulled me away from her attack while forming a golden bubble around us two. The chair that I was sitting on got split into two and both pieces fell onto opposite sides on the ground.

"Blessed fusion... " Marcia whispered, "Lance, something is not right! They can't hear us!!"

"What are you talking about?? Mom!! Mom, it's me, Lance!!" I shouted, but she kept acting like she didn't recognize me while observing the bubble.

"That dragon... Is it using a blessing?" aunt Evlin whispered while placing her daughter behind her. The girl herself just looked at us completely frightened.

They think we are dragons?? Why?? I glanced at my own hands in case something had happened to my body, but I looked completely normal. All I had was the burn marks from the time Kurt grabbed... Me...

...

Ahhh...

"That piece of s-"

"Dodge!!" Marcia shouted as she dragged me away again right as my mother continued to swing her sword at us, completely breaking the golden bubble with ease.

"Why are they not attacking us?" my aunt asked.

"Don't know, but I'm not gonna give them a chance to!" my mother replied.

She began to charge at us once again and Marcia responded by grabbing me and my sword from the table and rushing to the balcony.

"We need to leave!! Now!! Call Eclipse!!" Marcia ordered.

"But... But..."

"Lance! They're going to kill us at this rate!!"

She was right. I didn't want to believe it but no matter how you looked at it, there is no way that striking a conversation was possible right now.

"Eclipse!!" I shouted.

Something started to emerge from my shadow and I could see the tip of my lion's mane revealing itself to come to my aid.

But my hopes suddenly died as I saw my mother approaching from the living room. I don't know how but she was moving like lightning while wielding that sword.

Eclipse would not be able to reach us in time.

"No choice..." Marcia commented.

She opened the window of the balcony and began to drag me to follow her.

"Are you crazy?? What are you doing??" I cried while trying to resist.

"My mission!! I was tasked to keeping you safe, and I will keep you safe!"

She pulled me closer and forced the two of us to jump out of the balcony...

...OF THE ELEVENTH FLOOR!!!

My mind wasn't even properly working anymore by that point. All I could do was scream as I watched the ground approach.

"ECLIPSE!!!"

Marcia on the other hand still managed to keep her cool (seriously, what kind of childhood did she have???) and called out for the only one who could save us.

Eclipse jumped out of the apartment as well and began to dive after us.

No... Wait... He wasn't diving, he was running by the side of the building and chasing after us!!

"Lance!! Use your magic!!"

At this moment I replied to her with the only set of words that any sensible person in my current situation would have used, "AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!"

"LANCE!!!" she shouted while pulling my shirt.

I did as she told me and just tried to repeat my action from before while releasing any kind of energy that could exist inside of me to my sword.

Small piles of dark shadows started to appear and travel all the way to Eclipse, clouding him on dark fire once again and making him move much faster than before.

He finally reached the two of us right before we were turned into pancakes and brought us safely to the ground.

"Good boy!" Marcia praised as she rubbed his mane while I continued to shake and hug my shoulders and trying to remember how breathing works.

"Wha- Why- Wha- Who- Wh-" and how to talk apparently.

"Lance! Lance, can you hear me??"

I turned around and grabbed Marcia by the shoulders while shaking her back and forth, "Why did my mother try to kill me!!?? What just happened??"

"Lance! Priorities!!" she replied.

"Priorities?? What are you-"

Before I could finish, she just pointed up and showed me my mother jumping out of the building as well while driving her sword on the walls the slow her fall.

All while aiming her glare at us that practically had 'I'm going to kill you!' written in it.

Marcia glared at me, "It's not over yet!"
