Chapter 34

The Show will be a story in an ancient time and this is a challenge for Mary because she is responsible for the costumes.

It was busy all day and their class is canceled because they are tasked to prepare for the show that will be held later afternoon.

Sarah was so tired because of this. She just transferred and now she had to do all these things. Their family's business is in a critical situation and there she is without doing anything. Instead of helping, she is preparing for a mere show.

The class is busy rehearsing and preparing without them noticing that there are people who are watching them from afar.

'Elisia! you look stunning!' Maria praised me and then went away when someone called her for help with their dress.

The girls and boys have separate dressing rooms and right now, they are all changing their outfits based on their roles.

I looked at myself in the big mirror in front of me

Stunning?

Me?

I want to laugh. Basically, I'm dressed as a tree. Literally a TREE

I'm wearing a tree costume where the only visible part in my body is my head.

It is hard to move really.

I can't even sit properly. I was looking at the whole room and saw everyone busy with their makeup and clothing. Maria was all around making sure there will be no problems.

I saw Keila was also making rounds, making sure everything will be set up for the performance.

Keila's wearing a maid costume with a mix of victorian made uniform that is made of sacks and leaves to make it look ancient. Pfft. I told them not to trust Maria here but they say it will all be okay. Well, It's not too bad really, just very unique. Very.

I saw Keila came near me with Marine and Marisa who has the identical costume as Keila.

When they looked at me, they started laughing.

'That looks good on you Elisia' Keila said while making an okay sign.

'Yeah. Yeah, I looked stunning.' I said sarcastically.

'Alright. Elisia gets ready, we'll be starting soon.' She said.

We are all backstage while the headmaster is doing some speech. Everyone is very excited and having fun.

'Elisia, you look Pretty - -' Alex came at me and was about to say something when I cut him off.

'Weird, I know.' I said and we looked at each other and laugh.

'I was about to say a pretty tree.' He said and he pulled me to him and hug me from behind.

'Hey! No PDA

'Tss, This idiot couple.'

'Jealousy strike!' Some of our classmates reacted when they saw us

I pinched Alex's hands.

'Ow - -ow that hurts.' He said and I smiled at him

'Hey let's not make everyone drink vinegar, help the others, and later I'll let you cuddle me as much as you want.' I said and teased him. (Drink vinegar other terms for jealousy). After I said that, everyone glared at me.

I saw Alex's face turns red and I laugh. After that, he went back to work.

I'm a lucky tree. Since I cannot freely move in my costumes, I can laze around. I was just standing on the side and I noticed Sarah is beside me and I looked at her and she noticed and she looked back at me.

'You look beautiful.' I complimented her. Sarah is wearing a white tattered dress, she has a charcoal stain that serves as a speck of dirt in her rosy cheeks but she still looks so innocent and pretty.

She smiled at me and said 'Thank you.'

'Alright gather around everyone!' We heard Aston yelled. Aston by the way is the director of the show. He manages everything.

'I just want to say let's give our audience the ambiance of a great theatrical experience. Have fun and let everyone know that our class is the best!' He said and everyone cheered.

I sang very cheerfully. To be honest, this song is quite a sad song but our director Yale said that we just have to sing it cheerfully.

I'm on the stage and was singing and swaying even I'm a tree.

My role in this play is a bit useless really. I told everyone I'm not talented at singing and dancing nor acting so they said I can be a tree and I agreed without any second thoughts because I imagine I would have the easiest and furthest role in the play.

And I was right.

After the first scene, my job is done.

When I went backstage, I immediately took my costume off because it's so hot.

I'm wearing now a plain white shirt and pants. What a relief.

I put my costume aside and I watch the show from backstage.

Sarah aka Clementine is acting and singing at the same time. She is really good!!

I saw everyone having good fun and it was all turning out great!

I saw Maria checking everyone's dress before letting them on stage.

I saw Keila aka the maid following Clementine everywhere.

Clementine is a very cheerful and innocent girl. Until her parents sold and married her off to the other tribe. They wanted to get rid of her.

She was married to a man who abused her, aka Alex

She asks why it all turned out like this, she blamed everyone around her

She wanted a change and fought bravely.

Her heart and mind wanted to fight but her body is slowly deteriorating.

It's in the climax not where Clementine is going to die.
