Chapter 5 : Sanctuary XIII

"Thinking about Eliza again??"

Aria asks with a tease.

"Actually no. I was taking the figure of you in that dress in, thankfully I have you to stop me from doing anything Eliza wouldn't want me to do."

Sirius remarks with a light chuckle.

"You should be truly grateful that you have me."

Aria replies with a slight air of pride.

Sirius let's out a light chuckle before going solemn again, Aria sees this and walks up to him.

Placing her hand on his shoulder, she puts his head up and straddles him with Sirius putting his head up to look at her face.

Aria plants a deep kiss on Sirius lips with the latter responding in like manner.

They kiss for a few seconds taking in each other's fragrance before breaking free and staring deeply into each others eyes with a mixture of love and lust present in their eyes.

"I'd like to stay here tonight, hope you won't have a problem with that."

Aria asks with sarcasm in her voice.

"I don't have any problems."

Sirius replies chuckling lightly as he rested his hands on Aria's hips.

Jay is standing by the door with a solemn look in his face as he overheard the conversation between Sirius and Aria.

He furrows his brows a bit before putting his hands in his pocket and walking away.

**************************

Elisha is seen sitting outdoors with his eyes staring into the starry sky with a bottle in his right hand, he takes a few swigs from the bottle at intervals as he seemed to be in a really sad mood.

Jay walks out into the balcony to see Elisha by himself, he thinks to join him and decides to do so with Elisha noticing his presence and acknowledging it with a nod.

"Drinking by yourself??... I guess you are not as tough as you make yourself out to be."

Jay remarks with a tease.

"What can I do??...Eliza is gone and now the heavy responsibility of taking care of this team and leading us is now solely on me."

Elisha laments in a solemn tone.

"You know complaining so much doesn't suit you, You should clean yourself up and take the helm of leadership over this team. We need you now more than ever."

Jay remarks attempting to assure the latter.

"You don't get Jay, I can't lead you guys. I was never a good fit as vice captain neither will I be able to do a better job now that Eliza is not with us."

Elisha says in a doubtful manner.

"To be honest I really don't get why you don't want to acknowledge your abilities as a leader and just accept that you were the right man for the job."

Jay replies.

"The reason is simple Jay, I can't lead this team. I'm better off as a wing man."

Elisha explains as he takes another shot from his bottle.

"Eliza knew what she was doing when she decided to give you the post of vice captain.

She knew all of us and she knew the posts best suited for us, I believe it's best that you trust in Eliza's decision and live up to her expectations of you."

Jay remarks.

"Easier said than done my friend. I just can't come to terms with it even now, I mean she could have picked any other person.

You, Zino or even Aria would have been better suited to take the post of leader but for some crazy, convoluted reason she decided to pick me."

Elisha says while rubbing his temple with his fingers.

"I can't claim to know why she chose you to be vice captain but I do know one thing, all those you just mentioned would have made for terrible captains."

Jay remarks with a slight chuckle.

"What are you talking about??"

Elisha asks as he raises an eyebrow.

"Give me a minute here let me explain some misconceptions you might have. You would have to think deeply about this if you want to understand the intricate structure that Eliza created with all of us."

Jay remarks in a rather complicated manner.

"What's your point??"

Elisha asks in an impatient tone.

"OK let's talk about this in a calm manner; I would have made for a terrible captain because the truth is I'm selfish and in my quest for more knowledge I'd end up forsaken the team.

I'm the kind of guy that would send out the team to fight a demon all for the sake of research and I am not joking around, I can do that.

The only thing I care for is knowledge and the things that come with it which is why Eliza placed me in the position I'm currently in.

She knew what I was capable of and decided it would be best I stay at the rear and analyze battle situations. That's my post."

Jay explains with Elisha looking at him wide eyed.

"I did not expect you to say such things, how sure am I that you are not just saying this to make me feel better about myself."

Elisha asks with a suspicion as he downed another gulp from his bottle and coughed a bit.

"Firstly, take it easy on the bottle. Secondly, I have no reason to lie, as I'm sure you know I talk based on logic and reason alone so there is no need to lie."

Jay asserts in a calm voice.

"Fine, I believe you. But what about Aria and Zino, they are good enough, right??"

Elisha asks.

"Aria is a good girl and she honestly cares for everyone but her flaw is that she is willing to do anything for Sirius, even if it means sacrificing the team just to ensure that Sirius is safe, she would do so.

Zino is too nonchalant with things and I'm sure the only person he cares about is David though even I am skeptical with that assumption."

Jay replies in a casual manner.
