Scarlett Olivia

Scarlett Olivia was a normal girl with a normal life and it sucked. Her mother was dead and she lived with her father and her step-mother. Her step mother had three children, Arthur, Ruby and Mary. Arthur and Ruby were excruciatingly stupid and irritating . Mary was fine, she was understanding and everything that her siblings were not.

The problem was that Scarlett was rich, like very very rich. Her father was a neurosurgeon and mostly stayed out of town. Everyone thought that Scarlett would be happy because she was so rich, but she was not. Her step-mother made her life living hell.

Her father always told her to try and cope with her step-mother because she had too much in her mind too. But all she did was throw party to her friends and neighbours and find any stupid way to waste money. Scarlett wished her mother was alive, because her mother was the only person apart from Sophia, her friend, who understood her.

She studied in Bright hope high school and had just one friend there, Sophia. The circumstance under which Scarlett and Sophia had become friends was funny. Some losers were bullying Sophia and Scarlett didn't like bullying so she punched one guy in the face, broke the other one's arm and left the other one with a bloody nose. And from that day onwards, Sophia and Scarlett had become best friends, although Scarlett did get suspension.

"Miss Olivia!", shouted her maths teacher and Scarlett jerked awake."Please pay attention to this trigonometry sum I am making! If you didn't have a good night's sleep then make sure that it's not my class you fall asleep in!"

"Yes ma'am, sure!",said Scarlett, picking up her pen.

The two girls beside her sniggered and Scarlett paid no attention.

One of the girl's looked disapprovingly at Scarlett's black t-shirt and jeans and said,"Oh dear, if you ever need wardrobe advise, do tell me!"

Scarlett took a deep breath and said, "The only thing I need from you right now is that you shut up!"

The bell rang and Scarlett gratefully picked up her bag and books and left the class. She was about to go out of the door when her half-sister Mary stopped her.

"Where are you going?",asked Mary

"To visit some friends",said Scarlett.

"Don't lie, you done have any friends except Sophia who is in LA!",said Mary

"Ouch... painful realisation...thanks Mary!"

"Now now don't get all sad. I was only asking because mom is throwing a party today and she wants all of us there, including you!",said Mary

"I don't care about her shitty parties!", said Scarlett."No offense!"

"None taken",said Mary."What will I tell mom when she asks about your whereabouts?"

"Alright, tell her I went to the orphanage!",said Scarlett

"What?!", shouted Mary."Please tell me you are not actually going to the orphanage! You have a family Scarlett! You have a father! I care about you too! You can't just leave and go-"

"Hey hey hey", said Scarlett."Calm down, I am going to visit the orphanage for some school project! I am not going to live there!"

Mary sighed and said,"Oh good! Well then I will tell her that!"

"Yeah, you do that",said Scarlett, looking in a hurry, scampered out of the school.

She went towards her Lamborghini which her father had gifted her on her birthday. She found the same two girls from her math class taking selfies infront of her car.

"Girls, please move",said Scarlett politely.

"Oh honey! Don't worry! You'll get the chance to click selfies too! Just wait till we are done!"

Scarlett frowned and said,"First, I don't want no damn selfies, secondly don't honey me and thirdly, that is my car!"

The girls moved away from the car and stared at her in an awe.

"Umm...listen",said one of the girls."I live just down the street! Do you mind if I ask you to give me and my friend a ride?"

Scarlett controlled her smile and said,"Have you no shame?"

She didn't wait for an answer and just climbed in the car.

She drove away while the girls behind her shouted,"Okay girl, It was nice meeting you! Maybe next time! It's okay you're busy maybe! Bye!"

Being rich had its uses too.

Scarlett drove towards the orphanage which was a seven minute ride from her school. Actually she needed to visit the orphanage. The last time she had been there, the door was open when she peeped inside , she saw some crazy stuff. She saw a child flying happily, a boy with a force-field around him, deflecting the ice shards that a girl was throwing at him, pulling it out of thin air. A boy who was making things move without touching them, a boy with fire in his hands and children doing whatnot.

Scarlett thought she was day-dreaming or something because such things did not exist. But, curiosity always wins against safety, so this time Scarlett had gone there with an excuse of school project. She knocked at the door and a kind-looking lady opened the gate and said,"I am Eva! This is Hewyard Orphanage! How may I help you?"

"Um....hi, I am Scarlett, I study there in the Bright hope high school! I am here on a school project, I wanted to interview and meet some of your children of the orphanage.",said Scarlett pulling out her hand

Eva's smile faltered for a second but she smiled again and said,"Yes! Sure, come in! We have ten kids here in the orphanage! Hardly anyone comes for adoption here"

'maybe if you had actually put a sign outside the orphanage then people who wanted to adopt children might have come',thought Scarlett.

"So, these are the children ! These are Bennett, Helen ,Zane ,Natalie , Mick, Derek ,Alice, Laurel, Emily, Aidan",said Eva smiling.

"Pleasure to meet you all!",said Scarlett bowing a little awkwardly

"Children this is Scarlett, and she is from Bright hope high school. She has come here to visit and spend some time with us!"

The children smiled at her nervously. The boy Eva had introduced as Zane looked at her strangely.

Eva turned towards Scarlett and said,"If you don't mind then might I just have a word with my kids!"

Scarlett nodded and said,"Sure! I will wait in the hallway"

Saying this, Scarlett went outside the big room.
