"Szeina."
Music.
"Szeina."
Soft music.
"Come to me." The voice echoed, resonating in Szeina's head as her eyes slowly fluttered open.
Crickets.
The sound of crickets registered in her hearing and she instantly wondered what was happening and where she was.
Her body felt heavy.
If not for the voice calling out to her, she would have remained unconscious.
"Szeina!" A more familiar voice caught her attention. Catching sight of the stormy-like eyes that stared at her with worry, she propped herself to get up.
Yvann's firm hands guided her and had her to sit.
Blinking, Szeina assessed her surroundings.
A small fire fueled by small sticks crackled to life and kept her warm. She and Yvann and four others who were with them.
Water trickled down from somewhere far, the thick walls of the cave they were in permitting only a faint sound to echo.
"What happened?" Szeina asked, while Yvann handed her a leaf, which he crafted to hold the water it contained.
Szeina accepted it without hesitation, her throat parched, and she could still taste a few traces of sand from her mouth.
"You happened." One of their companions replied. It was a lean guy with a messy hair. His eyes burned orange, almost like the color of the fire.
Szeina turned her attention to Yvann. Clearly, she couldn't even remember how they managed to escape.
The last thing she could remember was saying something mean to Duke, the Rebel's leader. After that, her memory was cut short. She couldn't seem to recall anything beyond that point.
"I… don't understand."
"Neither do I, or any of us, Szeina. But for what's it worth, you saved us." Yvann replied, offering a small smile to at least make her feel better.
Though he was quite aware that it hardly made any difference.
"What happened?" Szeina repeated. She couldn't let it go. Her mind was pulling a blank after her exchange with Duke. It was as if a veil was thrown to conceal that part of her memory.
"Girl, you went on to have a tantrum. You created a storm so huge, it destroyed the entire arena. It destroyed the entire place and freed every prisoner there was."
Szeina blinked.
"I did what?"
Yvann cleared his throat.
"Well, to put it mildly, you went on a rampage. Sort of like using the wind to your advantage. Though I didn't even know how that was possible."
Szeina felt everyone's stare landing on her. Shivers run through her skin.
She opened her mouth, only to close it once again. A mix of emotions rose inside of her.
Suddenly, she wanted nothing but for the ground to swallow her whole.
"It was only possible for her to do that because she's special."
At this point, Szeina turned to the voice which she recognized. She had forgotten about her, but the instant she spoke up, a brief flashback of meeting her came to her mind.
"Hi, Szeina. I'm sorry that we have to meet this way, again."
"Laura. Your name's Laura."
Lauran nodded, switching her attention to the girl beside her. When Szeina caught sight of the other person, she gasped.
"Meet my twin, Raven."
"Oh, wow." Szeina couldn't even begin to decipher who was who. The identical traces of their lips, eyes, and nose and hair color made it impossible to distinguish which of the twins she would be talking to.
"Hi, I'm the prettier twin, by the way, if you haven't noticed." Raven smirked, immediately dismissing the question of how anyone can identify who was who in Szeina's mind.
Where Laura seemed to be soft-spoken, Raven was her exact opposite.
"Right. So we are into introductions. My name is Raegan. If anyone cares and this one here is Rile. If anyone asks, yes, we're siblings."
Szeina exchanged a brief glance with Yvann, clearing her throat.
"I'm Szeina and this is Yvann. Except for the twins, I think we're all strangers to each other."
"You could say that again." Rile agreed, followed by a slow rumbling from his stomach.
"Oh boy. Right. We haven't addressed the one problem we have." Raegan spoke, getting on her feet. This made the curls on her head bounced with the sudden movement.
"Before we get to that, I have a question." Szeina interrupted. She has no clue what she intended to do by rising to her feet.
"Get on with your question, girl. This lot has waited a while for you to wake up so we can hunt."
The term hunt somehow made Szeina uneasy. But she let it go for now. She wanted to address the more pressing matter that was bothering her.
"I'm sorry. I'm just wondering. You did mention that I… destroyed that… place. And then there was the part about everyone else being set free. How many are we talking about here?"
"More than ten, obviously." Rile replied, sounding bored and annoyed.
"There were many to count, Szeina. But each of them fled and we have no clue where they went exactly. If that's what you were about to ask." Laura said, her eyes briefly darting towards Rile, who rolled his own.
"Oh," Szeina frowned. She still had a lot of questions, but she also knew that delaying the priority of finding food would only make Rile hate her a bit more. She shut her mouth.
"Right. Well, I don't know what you mean by 'hunt' in specific terms but, where do we begin?"
--
He can't take his eyes off of her.
Yvann found himself looking at Szeina. He can't seem to get the image of her walking right in the middle of the chaos which she herself had caused.
It was like she was a totally different person.
The Szeina that stood before him now was the same Szeina whom he had met back in Alwreck High.
'Should I tell her?'
Yvann mused. While she had herself acquainted with the rest, he wondered how much he could actually tell about what happened.
In all honesty, he doesn't quite understand it himself.
One minute they were talking, then was chased by some cloaked individuals and them bam!
He wakes up and finds his mother's killer standing in front of him. Szeina gets dragged out and then he taunted her.
He taunted her to the point that she was able to call a storm.
If that would be considered as something normal, then he must have gone crazy.
