Rescue Mission part 2

"Hooot!" The trippers gathered at the call of a man holding a small horn. They formed a circle, surrounding the fire blazing in the center and where the twins were currently helpless, bound, and in danger.

Varying in height and sizes, the trippers blocked Szeina and Yvann's clear view of the twins.

There was only a minimal allowance from the little space which the gathered trippers provided as they stood a few inches apart from each other.

"Ahoo, ahoo!" The group of trippers chanted, stomping their feet on the ground in unified succession.

"What the hell are they doing?" Yvann muttered, straining to see past the bodies blocking their view of the twins.

"Your guess is as good as mine." Szeina blew out a frustrated sigh.

She leaned against the bark, giving up on trying to see what was happening.

"We need to get them distracted and then we can strike." Yvann stated, his eyes still fixed on the encircled trippers.

"How do we even beat them in their own game? We have no clue how to deal with them. To add, they seem to be agile."

"Everyone has a weakness, Szeina."

"Well, if you have yet to notice Yvann, we don't have time to find what their weakness is. We need to act now. Who knows what this… horrific thing they're planning to do with the twins?"

"You and I are new to this. All we have as an advantage is the element of surprise. After that, I couldn't think far enough what to do nor how to keep them busy while we try to take the twins with us and run as fast as we can, hoping they don't catch up."

Szeina hung her head. What Yvann said was true. There was no hope for them unless a miracle happened and someone steps in to help them with their dilemma.

She was only starting to learn what she was and the truth of the matter hadn't even fully sunk in to her. Now, she was shipped to a strange place where the rules of survival depended on how she can protect herself and the people around her.

It was another world in another place. Although she was certain that she was still on the same continent.

Vampires, werewolves, monsters.

Apparently, there are still a lot more creatures whom she didn't know about existed in real life.

She shouldn't be surprised any longer.

The appearance of that cloaked creature in her life was the beginning of her plunging into the unknown.

Or maybe it was even before that.

When her best friend Hope had died, something broke inside of her.

She never understood what it was.

But, right now, slowly, it was making sense.

The chanting had come to a stop, allowing Szeina and Yvann to glimpse on the twins. So far, they were untouched. At least, not yet.

Though eventually, whatever the trippers have in mind will come into play.

Exchanging glances with Yvann, Szeina felt hopeless. The willingness to save the twins was present. But, the dilemma of how was going to take them longer to figure out unless an answer presents itself in front of them.

Whoosh!

Before Szeina could blink, a fast speeding arrow passed by her left ear. The tip of it was blazing with orange fire and in a minute, a scream broke out from the tripper's camp.

One of the makeshift tents caught fire. The commotion scattered the creatures and brought some to throw fresh soil on it, grass included.

Szeina stared in the direction where the arrow came from.

A few seconds more and another zipped past a little above the other one earlier, sending another tent on fire.

Soon, more arrows came flying, causing the trippers to spread. A few of them going back and forth trying to douse the flames.

However, with the arrays of arrows coming through, most of them sought to find cover. It left the twins in the middle, their head snapping from left to right.

"Now is our chance." Szeina hissed, making a move and still trying to stay out of sight, approached the camp a little closer.

She wanted to call out to either Laura or Raven, but thought better about it.

In the middle of the chaos, she still had to think better before exposing herself to the trippers.

Yvann followed Szeina silently, his heart beating against his chest. He does not know what was happening or how it was even possible.

Still, with the trippers running back and forth, they can't just barge into the camp and drag the twins with them without alerting anyone.

Yet, Szeina appeared to be determined to do whatever it took to save the two from whatever the trippers initially planned to do with them.

Yvann was readying himself to either stop Szeina or cover her if she decides to actually start sprinting.

Crouching to prepare for what she was about to do, Yvann was bracing himself to stop her in case she didn't time it right. However, before either of them could make a move, someone stood beside Szeina.

Spiral tattoo covered her arms. Her long straight hair was pulled on top of her head, a leather belt held it securely.

Tribal patterns lined the choker she was wearing on her neck. Compared to the tripper's sack of a clothing, this female had on a beige short skirt made of an animal hide. Its length was enough to cover a larger part of her thighs.

A small piece of tube was wrapped around her chest, a tribal symbol imprinted on the thin cut clothing overlapping the tube, shaped in a triangle. The top of it produced two lace which were tied around her neck. The same could be said on the edges of the triangle, the lace criss-crossing on her back.

Her smooth skin glowed against the moonlight.

In her hand, a bow was stretched, her finger holding the tip of an arrow securely.

"I advise that when I release this arrow, you run like there's no tomorrow and grab your friends. Otherwise, you have to accept the inevitable."
