The Demon King's Attempt At Winning His Queen's Heart

"It is good to see you two getting along well." Vincent said, looking happy at their interaction.

"Come with me Quinn, I have something extravagant planned for us." He said as he held out his hand for her to take.

She placed her hand in his larger one and he intertwined their fingers as a smile slipped on her lips. She turned to the rest, "Good night, I shall see you tomorrow."

"Good night." They all replied as Vincent and Quinn turned around to walk out of the courtyard. His guards including Caesar and her maids followed behind them as they made their way around the palace.

They were walking hand in hand as they passed many pavilions, houses and courtyards filled with beautiful flowers. She looked up at the sky to see that the sky has turned dark blue, meaning it was late evening already. She stole a glance at Vincent to see him already staring at her with a smile. His white hair was falling over his shoulders with his crown on top of his head. His dark eyes seemed to glow in the light of the moon and he looked so gorgeous.

"Why are you not wearing your crown?" Vincent asked her as he also observed her.

Her other hand went to the top of her head as she gasped, "Oh! I forgot as I am not used to wearing a crown like that. Mine at home was lighter and I rarely wore it unless we were expecting visitors."

"It is understandable, but here, a queen is to always wear her crown. Your maids should have placed it together with the clothes they picked out for you to wear today."

She gave a sideways glance at the maids who were behind them then returned her gaze to him. "Yes, but I got ready on my own. I told them that I prefer getting myself ready."

"Alright, I also get ready on my own. That is unless you would like to assist me someday when I have finally earned your love?"

He looked charmingly at her, and she felt her face flush as her eyes widened in surprise at his statement. "I-yes, when that time comes."

She has already fallen in love with him, but she could not tell him. She was still afraid of the outcome of her loving the demon King even if she was his destined mate. He gave her hand a comforting squeeze as he still held his smile. Her blush subsided as she looked at his handsome face.

He looked back in front of them and she did too. They had reached the King's courtyard and were approaching a very beautiful garden. There were many flowers of different colors and scents. She had been so focused on him that she did not notice when they entered his courtyard. As they entered the garden, she saw a large gazebo in the middle. It was beautifully decorated like the garden was.

Flowers were made to cover the sides of its entrance like curtains and the inside of the gazebo contained a wooden table with two chairs facing each other. A plate of food was placed in front of each chair and two drinks were placed beside each cup that was paired with each plate. A candle stand holding five candles was placed in the middle of the table. She let out a gasp at how beautiful it all looked and how hard Vincent was trying to make her fall for him.

"Here we are, my Queen. My attempt at winning your heart." He said as he led her to the gazebo. Their guards and maids waited at the entrance of the garden to give them privacy.

"You have done so much, my heart is indeed moved." She replied as he released her hand for her to sit on the chair on the right.

He went to the chair on the left and sat down, "I cannot describe to you how pleased I am to know that."

She smiled widely as she looked down at her plate of food. She had taken lunch with Queen Mother, but it did not look like these. The food on the table looked foreign to her, yet appetizing. He watched her with a smile before he declared, "Let's eat."

"Okay." She replied as she picked up her fork. He did the same and they both started eating.

"Tell me about your day. You said that you were going to discuss the assassin's attack on us when we were coming here."

"Yes, it seems that they have joined forces with the witches and that is how they were able to track us."

"But why? You have been at peace for years." She asked as a frown fell on her eyebrows in confusion. Using her fork, she stabbed some of the foreign pasta mixed with sausages and placed them in her mouth.

"They want to start a war, the dark witches must have talked them into it because they know that our army is stronger than theirs." He answered as he picked up his glass cup and took a sip from it. He placed it back down and continued eating.

"So what are you going to do now? Are you going to prepare for war?" She asked as she stabbed another piece of pasta and placed it in her mouth.

"We are always preparing for war as we have many enemies and we are the strongest kingdom. Many are trying to take the throne from me to gain my strong army and wealth."

"That is very wise of you and it must be hard work to rule a kingdom."

"It is, but I enjoy it. I love my people and I would do anything to protect them."

"That is very wonderful to know. You are such a great leader and this kingdom is lucky to have you as its King." She said as she paused from eating to look into his eyes sincerely.
