Repeated Memories 10

As she struggled to differentiate reality from illusion, she felt an arm land on her shoulder. She grasped reality and blinked a couple of times. She parted her lips to speak but nothing came out. 

Valen smiled bitterly as though he could feel her pain and as if it was more of betrayal, maybe? He gently patted Zyda's forehead with his index finger. Zyda felt a strange power flow into her mind and for a moment she calmed down. 

Seeing the change in her expression, Valen flicked his finger and the two appeared in still dark space. The cold breeze swayed their hair from side to side yet Zyda felt nothing but warmth as if a nostalgia crawled in her heart. 

A harmonious silence followed and finally Valen sighed heavily and began, "Let me tell you a story. A long time ago, there lived a couple. They were happily married but didn't have children. They were very devastated but they kept hoping that one day they'll give birth to an offspring of their own.
