One Sunrise with you

"Hold your hand up," Yu asked Shina when he sat down beside her.

Due to him being near her, it seems that her hearing is having defects now. She couldn't move and just let Yu stay beside her. But it would be suspicious if she reacted now, right?

{What now, Shina!? Why can]t you decide what to do!?}

{Ahem. Please do keep in mind, Shina, that we share the same wavelength? Can you please just whisper to yourself?}

Shina can't be helped but looked at where her brother is. Why did she forget about this when they'd been doing this since the day they were born.

{Careful now, Shina. Remember that you are blind.}

Silently fuming, she calmed herself and went back to where she was looking. Then she felt Yu's hand holding hers.

"Is there any problem?"

"N-no. I…I just heard something moving from over there," Shina bit her lips. Why was she stammering? She is a Deity for goodness sake.

"It's Megumi and Naru. I think they found their place. Naru is trying to help Megumi to climb up the rock," then Yu came closer to her ear and whispered. "I think your brother and Megumi have mutual feelings."

Shina gasped a little when she felt his warm breath on her ear. And seems that warmth won't just stop there. She could almost feel it in her while face.

"Oh, it's starting now." Yu looked at the cliff in front of them.

The cliff had an overview of the whole village along with the rice field that is starting to grow as the fresh green can be seen. Smokes coming from the different houses looked like a rope that went down from heaven. And then there it was, the sun started to stretch its rays towards the land.

"Here, Shina, let me help you feel the sun." Yu didn't ask for any permission. He just held her hand up high, his hands were big compared to hers. His hands kept holding hers as if supporting it to help her capture every warmth of the sun rays.

It wasn't just the sun's warmth that Shina could feel. She can also sense the closeness of their body. How his body cradled hers as he kept murmuring all the things she could really see.

Shina felt so guilty for pretending but that was what they told the whole village and Yu. She didn't want to tell them that it was a lie. These villagers may doubt them and in the end, throw them away. Worst, with her strange eyes, they might realize that it was her and Naru are the ones who tried to obliterate them.

And Shina can't help but feel sad.

Everyone in the village is starting to get attached to her. And leaving them, them hating her, it will be painful to her.

"Can you see how beautiful everything is, Shina?" Yu said as he slowly brought her hand down. "Shina? Shina? Why are you crying?"

Shina quickly wiped her tears away. She shook her head as she answers Yu. "Nothing. What…what you described just…its just wonderful." Shina tried to put a smile on her face as she looked at Yu's face who was full of worry.

Yu chuckled softly as he helped her wiped the few tears that gone astray to her cheeks. "I'm quite honored. What I did is not even close to what you did for me. I'm willing to be your eyes and I think it is still not enough repayment for my life."

She was ready. Ready to dream that they would be together. But with just a few words, her dream bubble pop into thin air.

"I see. You really don't have to bother." Shina replied and focused her eyes on the view in front of her. It was really wonderful and magnificent, but now, it was just that. A view. Nothing special.

She didn't know why but all of a sudden, she remembered a name that Yu was shouting when they were fighting. "Ayakawa," she mumbled.

That got Yu's attention. With shock written on his face, he asked, "How did you know Ayakawa?"

When she didn't answer, Yu forced her to face him. his strong hands dug on her shoulder as she wriggles to free herself.

"Yu…it hurts."

As if waking up from a trance, Yu let her go. "Sorry, maybe the villagers' already told you about her, huh?" Shina nodded. "I guess you've already heard what happened."

Shina nodded again. "Yu…are you okay?"

Yu chuckled but sadness was clearly seen in his eyes. "I tried to accept her decision. It was for her sister. For the village. For us. Megumi was too afraid then. She was too young. Ayakawa took her position as the village sacrifice," Yu sighed and shook his head. "That was why I'm so angry at the Gods. After Ayakawa's sacrifice, they still dare to ruin our village. Isn't her sacrifice valid?"

Shina looked away from Yu. It was their fault. It was hers and Naru.

And what totally hurts her, is to see him still mourning for her. or worst...

"Do you…still love her?"

There was silence. Yu just stared at the scenery but his eyes were wandering from far far away land that Shina realized she cannot reach.

"Yes. I still do."

Shina doesn't understand why her heart started to ache. She doesn't know why it kept tingling and felt as if someone's clutching, squeezing the life out of it.

"But—" what was Yu wanted to say were cut off when Megumi shouted.

"Ah, it's raining?" Megumi said as she struggled to put her hands in her head.

NARU quickly looked at her sister and he knew it was because of Shina. Only she can call forth the winds that carry the clouds and rain.

{Something happened. Something isn't right.}

He can even get to talk to her in mind. He then cast his eyes towards Yu who seems worried at Shina. But he cannot run to them as he cannot leave Megumi.

After helping Megumi get down from the rocks and met up with Shina and Yu at the blanket, not too far away from where they are, Naru swiftly went to Shina's side.

"Is everything alright, Shina?" he whispered to his sister. And his heart bled when he saw sadness in her eyes and her wet eyelashes. "You've been crying? Let's go. I'll carry you."

Shina just nodded as he princess-carry his sister. He then looked at Yu who was still beside Shina. "I'm going to take her. You stay with Megumi." Naru walked a few steps before stopping and looked back at them. "Take care of her." He said to Yu before his glance went to Megumi. "If I arrive earlier at the village I'd try to go back and get you." By that, he left as fast as he could.

He needed to talk to Shina. He needed to stop her or else, the storm may start again.

"STOP this foolishness, Shina!!" Naru hissed at Shina the moment he came into their house after going back for Megumi. "The rain would ruin the rice field! Shina!"

Naru held his sister's shoulder as he lightly shook her. "Shina, please. Did Yu do something? Did he…say something?"

It was then Shina looked at her brother. "Naru, I don't understand. I'm confused. Why do I keep hurting from here?" Shina held her chest. "It's been hurting since Yu said that he was kind to me so he could repay our kindness. And…It hurts really bad when he said that he still loves Ayakawa."

Shina couldn't see what her brother's face was as tears flooded her eyes. She didn't want to cry. She didn't want to hurt. But how does she stop what she was feeling now?

"I cannot really understand, Naru," Shina said in between her sobs. "He was just a mere mortal whom I got curious. I stayed with him to have a better understanding of how mortals live their life. I got all the answers that I needed. It's supposed to stop there but how…how did this happen?"

"Shina," Naru called to her sister as he held her in his arms. "We are still young and were left to wander in this world. Maybe it was wrong to study this creation of mother. But there is one thing that I came to grasp," Naru held Shina's face to his face. "The adoration that you are giving that mortal is far greater than what you are giving to the others. So much that simple things he will do or say would make or break you.

"We'll just have to learn how to have control over this," Naru continued. "If you start to care for the people in this village, you must control what you have for that boy. You cannot sacrifice the lives of those people over your feelings for a single person."

Shina silently watched her brother. Why does it feel like he was saying it to himself, too?

Was he like this for Megumi, too?

"Shina, please," Naru warned as he was about to step out of the house. "stop the rain. The crops will start to get ruin."

Shina nodded to her brother but she stopped midway when Naru opened the door and she saw Yu standing in the rain under the tree in front of the house. Naru quickly closed the door when he saw Yu.

She could hear the muffled talk between Yu and Naru. She could hear worry in his voice before it became silent. Naru then walked inside of the house again.

"Here, he was giving this to you. He hopes that you would cheer up. He wanted to talk to you, but I told him he should go home for now as you are not feeling well."

Shina looked at the sakuramochi in her hands.

How could Yu do this? Hurt her now and make her smile the next?

When will she understand this?

{You have a lifetime with him, Shina. Take your time.}

And she just silently pray that before his lifetime ends, she would understand what was happening to her.
