The Truth Behind the Attack

KAHAKU watched as one by one, the demons started to disappear. Looked like he wasn't needed there. Then he saw one demon who used other demons as a shield.

"This filthy demon. He really lived up to his name." He smirked at the demon when their eyes made contact.

The demon threw his comrade when he reached a few meters away from him. Kahaku just looked at him not wiping the smirk on his face, waiting for it to make its move.

"Why am I fighting a weakling like you?" The demon shouted at him. "They left you alone here. Alone and no one to defend you."

Kahaku shrugged. "Well, I'm not like you who uses his comrade just to advance. Letting them die just to reach the goal. If I'm not mistaken, it looks like you are the weak one."

The demon growled at him.

"You brought them here so you could use them as a shield because you're weak. While they are fighting the guardians, you would sneak to the forest alone and kill the girl because you are weak. Claim the glory alone and be the forests' king. A king of a weakling. Am I right? Correct me if I'm wrong, weak demon." He taunted, emphasizing how weak he looked.

Kahaku laughed as he could almost see how red his face was. It has been so long since he enjoyed this kind of conversation.

"You…" The demon didn't finish what he was saying as he made his attack.

Kahaku then laughed. The demon attacked him when it saw that other demons escaped Tamotsu and Yoshiko, His chance would be taken away from him. This demon didn't think twice as he lunges at him and attack him now.

It was then Kahaku lifted his right hand, as he did, bubbles formed from the wet green field. One after the other, the demons approaching him were trapped inside a water bubble. Struggling to breathe as it was purified water, everyone started to get evaporated.

The other demons who could still breathe tried to escape the water bubble but Kahaku wouldn't let that. At that moment, Kahaku clenched his fist. The harder he clenches his fist, the faster the water bubble turned into ice.

The leader of the demon cannot move as the water in his feet started to form an ice, too. He just stood there as he watched his comrades shatter into crystals. The one who got his hand stuck out of the water bubble, was turned into crystal dust, too. His hand was the only one where left.

The demon looked back and to his horror saw how Yoshiko slashed a couple of ice balls. How Tamotsu did his plunged attack and shatter all the ice balls who were on his aim. It was repeated few more times until it was only him who was left.

"W-who are you?" Terror was laced in his voice as he watched in horror the figures of Yoshiko and Tamotsu coming back. "T-this is not what I signed for. Lord Susanoo said—"

"Susanoo! Do not slander Lord Susanoo's name!" Kahakau shouted. "Lord Susanoo wouldn't plot this kind of ill plan! How dare you?!"

They might not have been together for so long, but he knows in his heart that Susanoo wouldn't do this.

{How? Why? When he was thrown out of the Takamagahara, I took him in. We have lived under one roof for a few hundred years before he disappeared on me. He's a gentle God and most of the time misunderstood due to his strong personality. Was he just taking a rest so he could---no, that's impossible. He said he wouldn't want to do anything with Takamagahara nor with Amaterasu.}

"You're lying," Kahaku replied as anger lingers in his tongue. He slowly walked towards the demon as he let the ice crawled up to his neck. "Susanoo wouldn't plot something cowardly as this as he doesn't want anything to do with the other Gods, so why now again?"

"I don't know!" The demon screamed as the ice started to crystalize. Breaking him piece by piece. The demon screamed. It may have felt the burn of the purification as the ice cracked his muscles and bones. "He said his name was Susanoo and he needed us to kill the kid deity."

"Dandy? Why?"

But the demon couldn't answer anymore. Just screaming how hot and how it burns. Slowly, the demon's body evaporated and his head was the only one left. Eyes opened with blank white eyes staring at Kahaku.

"Tamotsu, Yoshiko, stay here in the green field. Be alert for they attack in another side of the mountains and the forest."

"Yes, my lord."

"How about Dandy, your grace?"

"I've already put a barrier in her flower bed, I just hoped she listened to me when I told her to stay in there after cleaning the forest." Kahaku sighed. "I'll be back after a few days. I'm going home. I need to ask Amaterasu for some information. If anything happens, call on me."

The two guardians nodded. He nods back and turns himself into a dragon and flew towards the Takamagahara. His silver and blue scales glistened as he traverses to the heavenly realm, carrying questions and ache in his heart.

{Susanoo. I hope they really are lying.}

KAHAKU didn't waste any time. He just flew right outside of Amaterasu's chamber. He was then stopped by her guards.

"State your business, my Lord?"

"The audacity. Calling me my lord but stopping me the moment I stepped in front of the Sun Goddess' chamber." Kahaku looked menacingly at the heavenly guard who was holding at the hilt of his sword. "This is an emergency. Announce my arrival."

"That we cannot do, my Lord. The Goddess is still with a visitor and wishes not be disturbed."

Kahaku's face darkened but he doesn't have much of a choice. He was just afraid that the longer he stays there, the longer that Dandy would be left alone. The longer the delay of talking about this matter, the better chance that the ominous plan succeed.

{And I still won't believe that Susanoo is behind all this. No—not after he tried his best to clean his name. Not after he gave his best to live as a simple God, tending to whole bodies of water with him. Unless all of those times don't mean to him.}

Kahaku looked away and stepped back. "At least tell our Goddess Amaterasu that I have an emergency. And it involves Dandy."

The guard nodded at him before calling an attendant to send the message. He stayed at the bridge connecting the Sun Palace to the central ground.

Takamagahara is a heavenly plain and residence of whole celestial beings. Most of the Gods that were staying there were the ruling guards, Amaterasu, and her husband Tsukiyomi. They were husband and wife but due to circumstances and misunderstanding, they have torn apart. Divided the lands into two. Thus having a day and night. Aside from the husband and wife, their attending Gods, Goddesses, and Deities were left in Takamagahara.

Other than the two, Susanoo, was supposed to be with them. And as the story says, he was banished from the grounds because of his foolishness.

Other celestial beings were just going back at Takamagahara if they were summoned, healing from wounds, wants to take a rest, wants to run away for a while from the mortal world. A literal sanctuary.

Takamagahara is a floating city. Carried by a sea of clouds. Too bright for Kahaku's eyes. That's why he didn't choose to live in Takamagahara. He stayed in his river, it was better.

His thoughts were cut short when he heard familiar footsteps. And Kahaku's heart almost stopped when he saw who were walking in the entrance of the Sori Bashi. He cannot be mistaken.

It was Susanoo.

"What are you doing here?"

Susanoo stopped at the highest point of the bridge and was looking down at him. He looked up at him as he was standing at the other end.

"I was summoned here," Susanoo's smooth warm voice made Kahaku breathe in harshly. "I heard you have something to say to Amaterasu?"

Kahaku's forehead knotted. "How did you know?"

"The attendant told Amaterasu and I'm here to fetch you. Come with me. Looks like what you're going to say interests Amaterasu."

Kahaku smirked. He was worried for nothing. Looks like Amaterasu already knew and he was proven correct. If Susanoo was there, one things for sure, this God didn't have any ill intentions like what that demon told him.

"Are you just going to stand there or you want me to carry you like the old times?"

Kahaku's attention flew back to Susanoo from what he said. Susanoo wasn't smiling, His eyes were burning. And Kahaku could feel his face was burning, too.

And with that, Susanoo's laugh filled the empty quietness of Takamagahara. Kahaku scoffed and flew past Susanoo. The moment he passed by, he gave Susanoo a glance. He just never thought that he would catch him looking at him, too.

Kahaku landed a few feet away from Susanoo and started to walk to Sun Palace. Soon after Susanoo was walking beside him. Not too far but not too close. Not touching but enough to feel the heat.

Like the old times.
