Questions

THE QUESTION that Naru asked Sora didn't leave him. He took it home when he left the forest.

He wasn't going to linger on to that question if it weren't for Naru's deductions.

[FLASHBACK]

"Naru," it was Kahaku who stopped Naru from asking. "Of course he's a human. If he was a celestial being or in any divinity, do you think he would live his life as a mortal?"

"Well," Naru looked at him from head to toe. "Mortals cannot see us unless we let them see us. But this kid," Naru looked up at him again. "Even when I tried to manipulate him, control him with my powers, he was unfazed. He was unaffected. And the color of his eyes…it seems familiar…"

"Naru," again it was Kahaku. This time his voice was scolding. "Let us drop the questions here."

"But—"

"No more buts."

The two looked at each other for a while, they were as if fighting in silence—in their minds, until Naru sighed and drew back.

Naru stood up and walked away as if nothing happened. "Let's go, Shina. We have to visit the north."

Shina just stood up and said goodbyes to Dandy.

Puzzled Sora looked back at Kahaku and knowingly smiled at him.

"Now then, it's time for you to go home, too, Sora. I think your father might be looking for you,"

It was then he looked at the skies, truly it was already dark. He then packed his things and walked towards where he came from.

He just stopped and looked back to Dandy and waved goodbye.

"Follow the fireflies, Sora. See you!" Dandy waved back to him.

He didn't answer and just waved at her before continue walking out of the forest.

[END OF FLASHBACK]

Now, he was with his father eating their breakfast. Last night, he may be late coming home, but he didn't ask him where he went. Thus him not asking his father anything.

And he can't ask him now what Naru asked him before.

Why?

{How can I just blurt out those questions to him? It sounded stupid.}

"You were saying something?" Seri then asked what made Sora asked himself if he said it out loud.

"No. I wasn't saying anything."

"Oh, I thought I heard you." Seri smiled at him. "Oh, by the way, where did you come from? Your shoes are all muddy."

Sora bit his lips as he thinks of something, "I..uh…Went to play with my classmates."

"Really?" Seri exclaimed with a big smile. "Whew, I thought it'll be hard for you since we moved here out of the blue. I'm really sorry for that, son."

Sora looked at his father, He looked sorry as he doesn't want to leave his mother but his mother insisted that he came, too. She said that his father needed him more than her. He cannot understand that until now.

"Then, what am I supposed to help you with here, dad? Mom said that you needed me."

Seri smiled at him. "You are already helping. After I sorted this out, we will go back to your mom."

Sora nodded to his father. Well, he doesn't mind that now. His attention was now with Dandy and his Guardians and what Naru said.

Having been friends with heavenly beings is a big question already and it got bigger with Naru's questions.

"Dad, Why am I different from the others?"

Sora blurted as he cannot help himself from thinking. Maybe there's an answer with his appearance.

Seri's face darkened and seriously looked at him. "Are you getting bullied, son?"

"No. No one bullied m,e," he cracked up a smile and said to himself, {It's more if I'm the one who's bullying others. After I kicked that kid. No one dared to talk to me at school…well, except Maeko.}

Sora didn't know if he would laugh or not to what his father's expressions are. From smiling to too serious to now, all mushy and playful.

Seri stood up from his chair and walked up to him. Grabbed his son and held him tightly. "How can anyone bully my son? Look at you so handsome."

"Dad."

"Anyway, You are different because you are different," Seri answered him. "Our ancestor is from…a different and distant land. Married a native from this land until I got born. And me marrying your mother and you got born. See my eyes?" He even showed his eyes at him. "I got it from my great-great-grandfather."

"And mine?"

Seri held his face and looked at him from side to side. "I think you still got my genes and your mom's. But your eyes are definitely from great-great-grandma."

"Can I see her? Is she still alive?"

Seri then let his face go and cleaned their dishes. "Maybe someday, you'd get the chance."

"Then, she's still alive."

{Maybe that's why we don't have anyone to offer our prayers. They are still alive.}

Seri swiftly faced him and gave him a good glance. "You'd better hurry. You might get late to school. Don't forget your lunch and money." Seri dismissed and get back on his dishes.

Sora knows that when his father did that that the conversation is already over. But it still didn't answer Naru's question.

There is only one. His family was from a faraway land.

{is it just I'm a foreigner?}

****

SERI dodged his son's questions. For now. But he knows as time goes, he wouldn't be the innocent little boy that he is now.

He may follow orders from the divine being but that won't stop him from questioning why they were called back to his homeland.

He was the second son of Ninigi—he called his father Nigi. And as the second son, his powers are not as great as his brothers. Hoderi and Hoori, both have the opposite attitude, and taking care of stopping them was him.

And now this. Amaterasu called them here to aid her into something. It wasn't a big deal, it is their duty to follow Amaterasu. But he still needs to know what her real plan is. And if it won't affect his son's life nor the life of other mortals.
