When she was little, singing has always been one of Li Meilin's passions until the moment came where she needed to face the harsh reality without her mom on her side any longer.
But way back when she was still alive, Li Li Hua, Meilin's mother, was the one who taught her everything she knows about singing… for she was once a well-known singer during her era in her teenage years until she decided to quit her singing career after having her into this world.
Li Meilin has been to some amateur singing contests before when she was still very young and was well-guided by her mother in every contest she joined in. Yet despite winning most of them, Meilin just doesn't see herself becoming a singer someday.
Though she treats it as one of her passions, singing would just purely be a hobby for her. And so after saying to her mother what she had in mind about singing, her mother had accepted her opinion wholeheartedly and didn't force her to join any singing competitions any longer.
It has exactly been ten years since Li Meilin set foot on stage and sang a song in front of a crowd. And though the crowd that now starts to gather in front of them is not that much compared to the mass audience she usually sings for, Li Meilin still can't help feeling a little anxious about singing in front of them. All because she wants to get back on that stupid bastard.
Li Meilin didn't try to assess the situation anymore if this is really necessary or what, but she knows she has to do something just to let that jerk know that he could not just have anything that he wants including her.
Looking back at the small audience and their confused stares, Li Meilin sighs for what felt like the hundredth time already. It is not actually the number of the audience that scares her but rather their reactions and opinions for the things that would happen next once that bastard shows up in here any moment now.
Oh well, speaking of the devil… Here comes Lim Xian with his arrogant group of friends entering the scene while other students who are already here ridiculously formed two lines parallel to each other just so as to give way for them all.
What a bunch of spoiled brats they are indeed. Li Meilin can't help snickering at the back of her head.
Now that the devil is here already, Li Meilin looked back to her little crew, the Steel Punk, who turned out to be a hell lot of popular group of boys of their school as well.
If she recalls her friend, Zhao Chen's words a while ago, Steel Punk's popularity is equal in comparison to the popularity that Alpha Four now has in and out of the campus after winning several school band competitions over the years.
And she clearly has no idea about that until the time she finally meets all four of them. Leo, the lead vocalist, was the one whom Zhao Chen told to her about as his close friend on the band.
Since Leo still owes something from Zhao Chen, and Li Meilin isn't sure what is that, to be honest, Leo has instantly agreed on his request on letting Li Meilin join their little crew in the meantime to impress someone,
With an anxious look, Li Meilin asks them, "Everything's set, right?"
Leo only gave her a thumbs up while the guitarist of the band, Astro, looked like someone who is still not convinced that they can pull this one off.
First of all, they still haven't heard Li Meilin sing a song but Leo, their leader, carelessly said yes to his close friend's request just like that. Even their band pianist and drummer, Jumbo and Toru, think the same thing.
At least the girl showed them some ounce of talent before they could even make their decision! After all, their band's name is at stake here!
"I don't think we can pull this off smoothly," Astro finally says what is on his mind right now which the others agreed on.
But Leo only smirked at them and said with confidence, "If my friend tells me that this girl is good, then I believe him.
The rest of the band members only sighed with their leader's twisted belief before they all went back to their respective positions.
Leo stood beside Li Meilin as her duet for this afternoon and counted one to four before he gave the go signal to Toru to start hitting the drums.
Now that the drums had been set, the small crowd of students grew bigger and bigger until the football field was almost swarmed with students who chose to waste their time to see the on-the-spot live band show which they thought was planned for today.
