Hey Xian

As the drummer started patting his drums, Li Meilin took a deep breath and started humming the song as part of its introduction.

The awe that was plastered on the audience's faces was hard to miss as they finally heard Meilin singing even just the introductory part. But aside from their reactions, there is only one reaction that she wants to see.

And that is from that person who is the reason why she is doing this in the first place.

Looking at that person now, Li Meilin tries to look solely in his direction while belting out the lyrics while replaces the name on the song with her target.

"Hey Xian, I know looks can be deceiving

But I know I saw the light in you."

Lim Xian's friends grew amused just by the fact that their friend's personal maid even dared to change the original lyrics into Xian's friends to give a more clear message that this song was, indeed, dedicated to him.

Liu Yang couldn't help raising his eyebrows at him in a playful manner while one arm was poking Xian on his side.

"It looks like this chick is so into you right now, to think that she would even have the guts to replace your name in the song." Liu Yang playfully uttered.

Nonchalantly, Lim Xian swatted his hand away and told him to stop doing that since it makes him annoyed.

"Very clever move for such a naive-looking girl," Yang Shunyuan smirks. "Ho ho ho, she never fails to earn my admiration."

"She is a more interesting girl that we think she is, Xian," Wang Qing He faces his buddy and smirks at him. "This must be the reason why your father hired her in the first place? I hate to admit this, but that old man has an eye for talent."

"Shut up, all of you," Xian bellows nonchalantly. How could he even enjoy the song that this peasant girl is dedicating for him if these assholes would not shut up?

Yang Shunyuan only chuckles on how Lim Xian seems to be eager to shut them up so that he could listen intently to his maid's golden voice.

He is only trying to deny it, but little did Xian know that he is falling on his own trap that he supposedly lay for that girl.

Or rather…

How Shunyuan really sees it is that both parties are busy laying traps for each other that they didn't even realize they are falling for it at the same time.

Well, it is too early now to determine who would end up being the winner in this ridiculous fight that they are trying to win, but as far as Shunyuan's keen observation goes, it somewhat tells him that this wouldn't really end up pretty good either.

We will see as days pass by…

As her fingers are pointing at Xian's direction to give more emphasis to her performance, Li Meilin lets her body loose as she continues to belt out the lyrics.

She only gets a rare opportunity to stand on stage like this, so it should be best to give it her all.

"I can't help it if you look like an angel.

Can't help if I wanna kiss you in the rain, so

Come feel this magic I've been feeling since I met you,

Can't help it if there's no one else…"

The members of the Alpha Four continued to tease their friend as Li Meilin even lifted a finger for Xian to know that this was truly her song dedicated to him.

"What bold move this is," Liu Yang muses. "I can't believe this is still the same girl who kicked Xian the other day… or was it yesterday? I already forgot!"

Wang Qing He only facepalmed himself and commented, "You don't have a sense of time as always, Liu Yang."

Lim Xian tried to ignore them all and solely focused his attention on the singing girl on stage. Though he really didn't know what this girl's attention is and why she is doing this, maybe this is something to do with regards to countering his plan that he's also trying to use against her.

Well, well… so she is really trying to copy my plan? Is that even the case here? Lim Xian only scoffed within himself as he realized it now.

Clearly, this girl is not as naive and oblivious as he thought she would be. If she has been, then it wouldn't be such a satisfying win if she falls for him in an instant.

That may also be the reason why she suddenly accepts his proposal to be his girlfriend out of nowhere. (Author's Note: Li Meilin hasn't accepted his proposal in any chapters, I think.)

Since the girl has decided to play along with his little cunning scheme, Lim Xian thinks it is only best if he does the same, right?

Who would have thought that what Xian thought to be an easy game turned out to be a pretty quite interesting game for the two of them.

Of course, as much as possible, Lim Xian wouldn't want to lose against a low-born commoner like her.

If there is one thing that is going to happen in the end, it would be the fact that the peasant girl would be the one to confess her feelings first before him and that would eventually make him the winner.

Without even realizing it for himself, Lim Xian was actually smiling amusingly to himself which ended up scaring his friends away.

"W-what's wrong with him?" Yang Shunyuan whispers to his other pals. "It looks like Xian over there was possessed by something."

"Ah, don't mind him," Wang Qing He. "I am pretty much sure he was just plotting something at the back of his mind. It's normal alright."

At the end of her performance, Li Meilin raised her microphone in happiness for the fact that she was able to sing in front of an audience once again. A few seconds passed after that, most of the students that were watching her have all been clapping their hands really hard for her.

In the midst of her happiness, Li Meilin wasn't able to see the way Lim Xian left his friends without them realizing it first and came rushing on stage to meet him.

Little did they all know that something bizarre is going to happen next.
