The Mungos

Her blue eyes brightened as he stared at her, Adriana looked away and laughed nervously "Why would I know you?" she said as she walked away from him.

Tristan's shook his head, "she can't possibly be the girl that calls my name in the dream... Is she?" he thought and followed her, "hey.. So why were you so surprised when I said my name" he asked as they walked towards the cottage.

"Your name is weird" she replied.

Tristan stopped and leered at her as she kept walking, "no.. My name is not weird, you are the weird one" he said and kept walking.

"Shhh," she said as they approached the cottage, it was a brown cottage with bushes almost growing in it.

"It is an old cottage, are you sure people live here?" he whispered to her as she looked in through that window.

She flinched and looked at him, "You scared me... Stop doing that" she whispered back.

"Do what?" he replied in a whisper.

Adriana scoffed and looked away, "stop sneaking behind me... Whispering" she said and looked into the house, it was dark and full of dust and furniture.

The girl noticed the door opening, she turned and saw Tristan opening the door.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"Why are we sneaking around the cottage, it is obvious no one lives here and if they do then they should come out right now because they have visitors," he said out loud.

Adriana looked around and walked towards him, she held his hand and pulled him away from the door, "let us just go.. I don't have a good feeling about this" she said and felt his hand getting stronger and she could not pull any further.

She looked back at him and dropped his hand, "We saw a cottage in the middle of nowhere, and going in there is the right thing to do?"

Tristan stared at her for a while before laughing out, he stooped and sighed softly "I see you have watched a lot of Horror movies... No sweetie this is not a horror movie okay? No ghost or no man-eater would jump out and take you away... Relax" he said and saw her confused expression.

He stood upright and folded his arms, "Please don't tell me you don't know what I am talking about... You know what horror movies are right?" he asked.

Adriana shook her head.

Tristan laughed softly and looked away, "interesting... Are you some kind of an angel?" he asked.

She rolled her eyes and folded her arms, "I was a weirdo and now I am an angel?... Please" she replied.

"WHY ARE YOU TWO FIGHTING?"

They both jumped out of fear and Tristan fell on hearing the tiny voice.

His elbow scratched against a huge rock beside him and had got bruised up but the pain didn't matter at that moment, he gasped out as a very short hideous looking creature stood by the door, holding a big spoon.

Tristan could not believe his eyes, he looked at Adriana and noticed she was not so scared.

The young man hurried up and grabbed a big stick beside him, "Stay away from us goblin" he said as his heart race so fast that it almost stopped.

Adriana looked back at Tristan and sighed, "he would not hurt you..." she said and looked at the creature, "I have heard a tale of the trolls that live together in a cottage on the faraway island" she said staring at the creature.

"It is just me now" the creature said and walked towards Adriana..."Do not blame him, anyone would freak out if they see me... I look ugly whenever I am scared but trust me, this is not my real colour" he said.

Tristan laughed out nervously, "I knew more weird things would happen... I knew it" he said.

"Did we scare you? Aw we are so sorry... We got lost in this island and here is the only place we saw while walking around" Adriana replied and bent before him.

The creature smiled and held her hand, "You are so pure and warm...like a f...."

"Shhhh" she whispered to him and winked at the creature, "he doesn't know" she added.

Tristan was still on the floor trying to understand what was going on, "A goblin exist? The tales I thought were all lies are getting real? Oh my God I am going to freak out right now" he said out loud and saw the creature eyes on him.

"I am scared if I change to my colour, he would finally freak out" the creature said and shook his two long ears as a fly landed on it.

Adriana smiled and looked back at Tristan, "he will be fine" she replied and watched the creature took a step back.

"Okay," he said and closed his eyes, gradually his black color turned blue, he smiled as the dark eyes turned into blue as well.

"Wow!!!" Adriana exclaimed as she stood up and looked at the beautiful creature, "you are so beautiful" she said and heard Tristan whimpered.

"Oh my God what just happened, how did he do that? What just happened!!!!" he said as he bit his fingers and looked at Adriana, "did.. Did you just see that? He turned into blue...".

The creature sighed, "I knew he was going to freak out... Humans" he said.

"It is okay... You don't need to freak out, it is okay" Adriana said and helped Tristan up, "see? He is so calm and beautiful," she said smiling at the creature.

Tristan took a step back as the creature moved closer to him.

"I am not a goblin...my name is Phillip," he said smiling at Tristan.

The young man was amazed at how ugly he was some moment ago and had turned so beautiful now, he looked at Adriana and looked down at the creature.

"Hi Phillip... How did you do that?" Tristan asked curiously.

The creature smiled and put his arm on his waist, "You two notice I was holding a spoon with me right? I was scared and thought you guys were dangerous... My kind has these spectacular features, we changed into an angry goblin whenever we are troubled and turned back into out true selves when we are happy..."

Adriana looked at him confused, "so that means you are not a Goblin and you are also not a troll?" she asked.

Phillip turned to her and shook her head, "I also don't know... We are in between I guess" he said and turned to the cottage, "You said you two got lost? How did it happen?"

Tristan and Adriana turned to each other, "we... I... You know...."

"It is a long story..." Adriana said sharply.

Philip looked at Tristan and looked away, "Okay" he said and walked into the cottage, "you can come in, this is where I live..." he said and noticed the two humans were hesitating to enter.

"Ah my bad..." he said and walked out, "I got lazy and haven't clean in years," Phillip said laughing nervously.

Adriana remembered what he had said earlier, so she decided to ask, "Phillip?"

The Blue creature turned and looked at her with his big wide blue eyes, "Yes my dear" he answered.

"What about others? You said you are the only one now? Where are the others? Are they somewhere around?" she asked curiously.

Phillip looked down sadly and gradually his color changed back into black.

Tristan and Adriana looked at each other, "I am sorry.. I didn't mean to ask" she said.

The creature looked up at them, "it is okay... You were just curious" he said and sighed softly, "It was a cold night and It was here, right where you human are standing...".

Tristan looked down and around, "here?" he asked and watched Phillip nodded yes slowly.

"What happened?" Adriana asked.

Phillip slowly stepped forward and sit on a rock, "They are called the mungos... They are beasts with two heads... They attacked us that night and..." he said and stopped as his color got darker.

"Mungos? They are small animals, how did those attack you", Tristan asked curiously.

"Shhhhh!", Adriana whispered to Tristan.

Phillip wiped away the tears that fell from his eyes, "you two are the first I would tell this to in years, the first time I would talk to anyone apart from the furniture inside and the insects..." he said and sighed, "the Mungos I am talking about are not small, they are big creatures with two heads... They killed everyone and fortunately I hid into a secret hole in the cottage and they left without hurting me" he said sadly and huffed softly.

Tristan anxiously looked around, "does that mean they might come back?" he said as his heart raced.

"I am going to die on an island by two headed creatures... Interesting" Tristan said and saw Adriana's unimpressed face.

"What? Did you hear him? They killed his kind... What if they come back?" he asked.

Phillip looked up at him, "I have been living here alone for 100 years and they have not return.. Dont worry they might not come back".

"Might?"
