Chapter 40 - E- Girl style

After a lot of chopping, her hair finally completely evened out. The front bang was cut near her ear cutely that fell down neatly, like a curtain. The front section of her hair was slightly longer, and the back was slightly shorter.

This was because of her messy cutting technique.

"it's good." Eloise mumbled, touching her bob... it felt stylish and modern. She smirked widely.

But Odette, on the other hand, was silently tearing up. "Miss... I miss your beautiful hair. Oh, how many hairstyles we are going to miss out on this season."

"Come on, this hair is easy to style, and it's cute," Eloise stood up and twirled around in her nightgown. Somehow her knee-length white shimmies matched her a hair a lot better than her long one.

"See, this is super cute. I feel like an E-girl..." she mumbled, hopping around a bit.

"Miss, is it just me, or does it seem like you enjoy this hairstyle more," Odette said with a dull look.

"Come on, let's enjoy some variety in life," Eloise took her hand and both of them twirled around in their room.

Odette laughed out loud. "Slow down, miss. We are going too fast!!"

"This is not the fastest." Eloise sped up and twirled so fast that their hair was flying around.

They both giggled loudly as they twirled about...

"What is going on in here!" the door slammed open and an angry looking Millen Ayles stood there.

Eloise paused all of a sudden, causing them both to stumble down. They both crashed down on each other.

"Oh my goodness, Eloise, Odette, why are being so reckless. Are you both hurt!" madam Ayles ran in and helped them both up.

Eloise stood up, chuckling loudly. "That was fun.." she dizzily walked back to bed and laid on it. "Hey Odette, lets go run around in the deck.."

"But miss just toady you..." 'got attacked.' the maid bit back on the words of worry because of madam's presence.

"It's okay.. Let her have her fun." madam smiled softly. She sat in the corner of the bed and gently caressed her short hair. "If short hair was what you wanted, you should have told me so. We could have cut it long back."

"You loved my long hair, mum..." Eloise nuzzled against her hand.

"Oh my darling, you just put your needs first. Not mine."

"But you are my everything. How could I not do as you like," Eloise sat up and hugged her tight. "Mum..... don't ever get sick. It breaks my heart to see you lying there on the bed...."

Madam Ayles gently caressed her ruddy cheeks. "I will try not to, my dear. I will try not to..."

Eloise smiled widely. "Good, now can I go out. I will go meet mister Raymond. I will show off my trendy hair too all."

She shot up and ran to the closet. The gowns that seem drab and dull seemed more peppy and cool with her new hairstyle. 'This is like dark academia style. Or cottage core. Eepp with this hairstyle everything matches,'

She picked out a red a red velvet gown. it has a looser waist line and it flared at the bottom letting room for breeze to flow in.

Eloise took out a matching red ribbon and tied a small bow on top of her head. "My, I look like a kid. This is so cool. I bet Raymond is going to comment on it."

'He will most likely say that I look like a dog or a cat.....' she rolled her eyes discretely.

"Address him as duke, my dear." her mother gently tapped her forehead. "And Eloise, try not to get close to him.."

"Why?" Eloise glanced at her, confusedly.

Madam Ayles walked over and corrected her ribbon. "My darling, when will you learn to tie your ribbon properly,"

"He is my friend, is it wrong of me to?" Eloise hesitantly whispered.

"I—it's not wrong but.... try not to get too close. And... try not to lose your heart to him. He is not suitable for you."

"why?" she was even more confused now. As of now she was not sure of her social standing, but two women living alone seemed much less desirable option in the marriage market.

'I guess being a single mother is hard..,'

"Darling Eloise... I—I don't want you to get hurt by any means. You deserve the best and the young duke.... cannot provide you what you need,"

Eloise glanced at her in surprise. 'Oh my god, mommy, how did you know he is gay?!! Did she guess it to? I guess his love for Mister Fred is a widespread secret,'

She hugged her fussing mother tight. "Don't worry mum I won't give my heart to anyone unworthy." She pulled out another ribbon and tied it around the neck fashionably. Besides, he is not the one I will fall for. EVER,"

"Then who might win my darling heart," madam Ayles kissed her cheeks softly.

"Someone..." Eloise dodged her eyes. 'Apparently no one. I have no wish to fall for anyone or marry anyone. This timeline is fucked up already,'

As per her previous knowledge of Victorian period, women had no right to own property. After marriage, all of their wealth goes to the husband.

'I don't want to lose my crate of gold to anyone. That is going to fuel my business palls that are going to come on in the future,'

She nodded to herself.

On the other hand, madam Ayles was reassured. 'My darling daughter is worth way more than what he can give. I wish he could keep his distance as well'
