Writings On The Stone

After cursing the System for around half a minute, Ethan calmed down. He knew that his cursing won't change the System's demand. Having the System's assistance itself is a lifelong blessing Ethan could ever have. He believed it.

If it wasn't for the System, how could he have instantly learned this world's communication language in an instant? If it wasn't for the System's assistance, how could he have been where he was right now? There is no way he could have become a cultivator. There is no way he could have attained his current cultivation base.

Whatever he had, everything is due to his System's assistance. He was not any genius. Even his Talent Pool was enhanced to its current stare from Mortal Level. So, cursing the System was not a good thing.

As for the debt, as an experienced gamer, he knew that, as he progressed, the System's generosity will be high. The reward from the System will be of high value. He will gain more money and points for higher-level missions. So he was not bothered about his debt that much.

But the thing that worried him the most is that, with the increase in strength, his debt towards the System was also increasing. And he was not sure whether in the future, he will not take any more debts from the system.

Sigh!

"System! Show me the cost of this Aldon Language.", Ethan commanded within his heart.

[Command Accepted]

[Jotun Language : 1,000,000 Skill Points]

[Detected that the User doesn't have enough Skill Points in the System Database. Does the User want to take a credit of 1,000,000 Skill Points from the System and learn the language?]

"…", Ethan thought for a moment that he had seen it wrong. But after checking multiple times, only one word came out from his mouth, "Fuck!!!!!"

He was already indebted to more than 500,000 Skill Points. And now the additional million Skill Points is going to be added to that damn list. He is already having headaches with his current debt. And now additional million Skill Points were going to be added to that list only to learn a damn language. How could he not be disappointed?

"You damn Spirit God! Make sure that your inheritance is strong and mighty. Or else, I will come back after I am strong and destroy your damn resting place!", Ethan gave an open threat out of anger.

Ethan gave an angry look at the notification screen and said after a scoff, "Yes."

[Command Accepted]

[Language Transfer initiated]

[Transfer completed successfully]

[Congratulations to the User for learning the Aldon Language]

A huge amount of information was transferred to Ethan's mind. Ethan closed his eyes and let the information regarding the Aldon language enter his mind without putting any resistance.

After the transfer process was completed, Ethan opened his eyes. His feelings were similar to when he learned the Mortal Language. He had a mysterious and yet very familiar feeling towards the Aldon Language. It was an entirely new language. But he felt as if the Aldon Language is something he learned speaking since he was in his mother's womb.

Be it writing, speaking, reading, literature, different slangs and every aspect regarding the Aldon language was now completely familiar to Ethan. Just a moment ago, he doesn't even know the name of the language. But now he had a surreal feeling as if this language was now very familiar to him.

After the learning process was completed, Ethan once again looked at the stone which was written in Aldon Language. Unlike the last time, this time those strange letters looked much more familiar to him. Those words no longer looked unfamiliar to him. Ethan smiled and started to read what was written on the stone pillar that appeared out of nowhere.

"If you want my treasure, come to the first floor. But you need to be determined. Or else, you may lose your life."

Ethan couldn't understand the in-depth meaning of this riddle. The riddle was very easy for the eyes to look at. But he couldn't understand the last part which states that he might lose his life.

But after coming this far, there is no going back. So he gathered enough courage and placed his foot on the step. But he was cautious. He activated his Heavenly Gaze and looked for any possible traps that existed on those steps. After all, it was mentioned in the riddle that if he is determined to get his inheritance, then he had to be ready to even lose his life.

His Heavenly Gaze didn't find any abnormalities on the steps. But to reach the first floor, he had to be prepared. And he is dealing with the Spirit God. So there are chances for the traps that might exist which will escape his Heavenly Gaze's surveillance.

He trusted the ability of the Heavenly gaze and set his foot on the first step of the stairs with a heart full of doubts and fear. While placing his foot on the first step, he was also preparing for any traps like arrows shooting at him or some other traps which he read in many novels and comics when he was still on earth. But to his surprise, nothing happened which made Ethan take a breath of relief.

But it didn't make his cautiousness simmer down. So with full of cautiousness, he started to ascend each step. Like that, he ascended nine steps and didn't find any traps or abnormalities. This made Ethan doubtful. Since there were no abnormalities, then why was it mentioned on that stone that if he want his tressure, then he had to come to the first floor?

Ethan couldn't understand it. But the moment he set his foot on the tenth step, he felt that he finally found his answer. Because as soon as he placed his foot on the tenth step, he found that some kind of pressure was falling on his entire body. In fact, on close inspection, Ethan found that this pressure was falling on not his body but was on his Spirit.

This pressure was very mild and almost negligible. But as he moved further, bit by bit, additional pressure was being added to his spirit. Ethan had a strong Spirit. So he found it negligible at first. But as he moved forward, he became uneasy.

He slowly started to understand what was the true meaning behind the words written on that stone. He finally understood. In the beginning, the pressure was acceptable. But he knew that as he moves forward, this pressure will increase. And he is just in the midst of the 10th-20th step. and he still needs to understand what kind of pressure he had to face as he progresses further.

But as he stepped on the 20th step, Ethan was jolted and stopped on his track abruptly. Because this time the pressure on the 20th step was now doubled!
