Three days had passed by now, three days of me working my shift alone, three days of me going to school and not seeing West in literature class. Three days of practicing the role of Cathy alone.

West hadn't showed up at school for the past three days, and mom had given me clear instructions on what to do in case me and West were to cross paths.

She warned me to be five feet away from West, she warned me never to engage West in any form of conversation. She said it was best to be subtle about it, so he wouldn't get hurt, but there was nothing subtle about openly avoiding someone.

"Does your mom think you pretending West doesn't exist will solve the crisis at hand?." Luca asked as we walked towards class.

"What crisis?." I asked, playing dumb. He rolled his eyes and slung his arms around my shoulders.
