Chapter 25 [past Pt. 3]

After that, all kinds of rumors circulated around her, some of which were too ridiculous to be believable. Slowly, everyone deemed her as an evil witch, making up false rumors about her, just because their goddess disliked her.

It started as she abandoned her kingdom and her people in time of need, and fled to safety by herself, which held some truth. Then they grew bigger, Like her seducing guys and having affairs, and that she is pregnant and the father is unknown.

One even said she is cursed and the fall of her kingdom is her fault.

The last straw was two days before the end of the 'peace banquet', when someone framed her, for trying to murder the guardian fairy, and ruin her face, because of jealousy and shame.

She disappeared and everyone had forgotten about her, or at least that's what everyone believed.

–"It would be better if she was killed, there is no point in keeping someone like her alive".

–"maybe she felt ashamed and committed suicide? "

–"hahaha, shame? Her? That's highly unlikely. "

–as long as she doesn't show her face in front of our goddess again, who cares what happens to her? "

In truth, she was pushed into the water, by an unknown person.

Fortunately, she was rescued by several girls, who hated Victoria. They called themselves 'daytime stars'.

But not far enough.

The war started again, bigger this time. Everyone pointed at her, shouting she's a curse befalling the world. They lunged at her like wild wolfs, determined to shred her to pieces. One of Victoria's crazy fans caught her and tortured her in an underground dungeon, by burning and scarring her body with a scorching blade.

She was saved and treated by the 'daytime stars', but she had to escape to safety alone, as someone was after them.

Her beautiful face, ruined beyond recognition. Her dignity, stripped off and stamped on. Her body, burned and injured. And with nothing but a piece of rags to shield her from the cold, she fled as fast as her limping feet could carry her, to the only place she knew she could be truly safe.

A hidden community where the victims of the war, widows, orphans, and crippled men took shelter in.

Life was difficult, cold and hunger constantly haunted her. But it was far better than living with monsters in human skin. She left the noble life of aristocrats and royalty, and found peace in the humble life of 'the weak and forgotten'.

Helping around the kitchen, telling stories to little children, attending to the sick and wounded, gave her the true simple meaning of happiness. She lived a long life full of misery, but it taught her priceless lessons.

Her life was full of suffering, but she was able to find joy at the end. It was fulfilling. She felt grateful and content.

She truly did.

She thought it was her fate, and she deserved it because she wasn't grateful for her blessings. She believed her family's demise was her fault, and lived her life in guilt, trying to own up to her mistakes.

Until she read the novel and knew that wasn't her mistake, not entirely. Victoria, was the master mind behind all of her sufferings.

Victoria, the sweet innocent fairy, played behind the scenes and tampered with her life. And worst of all, Victoria let her live. She kept her alive not out of mercy, but to witness her perfect life falling apart along with everyone she cared about.

In this life, the tables will turn, and she will make sure the same events won't reoccur. She has to in order to save everyone she cared about.

And that brings her to this moment, and to one question: what will she do next to change her miserable ending?

Well, for now, she didn't know, but she knew knowledge would be a useful tool to help her. She should use all her spare time reading, no matter how useless it may be, knowledge had followed her till here. After she lost a lot of things, knowledge stayed. And she knew nobody could snatch it from her like they did with her mother's heirloom.

However, reading won't be enough. She has to think of something else. Like gaining more allies. She will win over all the people who supported Victoria last time into her side.
