Three Hybrids

"Relax.  It was a tiny skirmish that we snuffed out within minutes.  You were never under any real threat."

He turned back towards Rafael.  "I said everything is under control." 

I reached out and grabbed Gabriel's arm.  Although he was not bleeding anywhere, there was a cut on his white jacket where a sharp object had grazed.

"Did you just—"

He reached out and gently touched my shoulders but his bright blue eyes were forceful and intense.  "There is nothing for you to worry about.  You are perfectly safe." 

"I'm not worried about me.  I'm worried about you!"

For a moment, Gabriel's eyes softened.  "As you can see, I'm fine." 

He turned back towards Rafael with a warning glance.  "Stop scaring her over nothing Rafael."

Rafael said nothing.

Gabriel diverted the conversation towards less volatile areas.  "Have you spoken with Father yet?"

"About what?"
