LEIRA'S CRUSH

While Leira was leaning over to one of the school benches, waiting for some familiar faces since she's not in the mood again to attend any of her classes, she just kept her eyes busy with the different scenarios around the campus quadrangle. By the way, she was also waiting for someone to catch her attention. Then, life wasn't that cruel to her because her eyes fell directly to the first beguiling face she had ever seen inside this campus.

Hell yeah, Leira was just waiting for inspiration to pull her up, out of her bed, and go to the University. And, that inspiration will be that golden-haired girl Dennise, who had been bantering with her friends for several minutes now.

At first, Leira didn't really care what caused their turmoil since she was more focused on Dennise's beauty. That heart-shaped face, that plump, pouty wide lips, and her golden hair with half-crown hairdo looked like ready to sashay on the stage and will be crowned as the next Miss Universe.

However, Dennise didn't have those smiling eyes anymore, just like how she saw her in the magazines. As their conversation goes, her winter gray eyes were almost filled with transparent liquid threatening to escape. With just one bat of her curly brown lashes, it would surely spill out to her cheeks.

"Denisse, we don't need that form. I'm sorry." One of Dennise's friends dumped a paper more like a brochure on her hand.

Leira leaned closer and tried to listen to their argument. And, well done, she already got her name, Dennise simply cool and as sexy as how she looked.

"What? Like, seriously? I thought we're friends." Denisse's eyebrows raised together like she was waiting for clarification. Her lips were shivering and went upside down.

"Being friends with you doesn't mean that we need to follow whatever you want. Then if you are that kind of friend who will force us to do what you say, we don't need that kind of friend anymore. You better make new friends. For sure, you can find them in that sorority you want to join." Her other friend remarked, making her more confused, she didn't expect them to bail on her and their friendship.

"Indeed! I will surely find new friends, and I'll make it certain that I'll be the best kind of friend they will ever make and the kind of friend you'll regret losing!" She yelled, making sure that her two friends heard every single word she said as they walked away from her, without even looking back.

Denisse was left on that bench with her hands covering her face while she put all her weight to her knees that were supporting her elbows as it quivered with her sobbing.

She needs a friend, Leira glanced her pitiful eyes on Dennise. She felt sympathy for Dennise, seeing that her friend just bailed on her.

Leira suddenly feels the need to be there for her. However, part of her was worried if Dennise would want her to be her friend.

'She's so familiar, and she must be the shampoo model on the billboard outside. Now, she's crying over just losing some friends? I thought she's smug, and now she doesn't even care that people are watching her, the passerby and including me,' These words played behind Leira's mind while she was intently watching and observing Dennise.

'Should I approach her or not? No way, Leira, you've always been brave; how could you become so jittery in just simply approaching her?' Leira thought.

Leira took a deep breath before she finally got the courage to make a step towards her.

Leira sat beside Dennise and took my handkerchief out of her pocket. She handed it to her and waited for her to notice, and it didn't take long. Dennise gave her a glimpse before she finally sat straight and took Leira's handkerchief.

"Thank you," Dennise snivelled.

"I'm Leira, and I'm sorry if I disturb you. If you don't need some company, I can-I can just go," Leira almost stammered, talking to her. She didn't even know and was surprised at how she had dared to approach such a famous girl, and not to mention, and she's actually her celebrity crush.

"No, please, stay. It's so shameful to be alone," Dennise held Leira's hand, and Leira swallowed her saliva as her heart suddenly flipped.

"I'm Den…"

"Denisse, your name is Denisse, right?" Leira talked over her in her mind that maybe if Dennise will realize that some random student knew her, she could gain her confidence back. "I-I don't want to force you, but if ever you want to talk it over, just maybe, to loosen up, and you need someone to listen to you. I-I just want you to know that I'm all ears," Leira gulp, still not sure if she was doing the right thing. Part of her was also anxious that what if Dennise will just shoo her away and that she might make her shackles rise for being too nosy.

"It's just that I really want to join this sorority, and I thought that my friends also want it. However, they don't. Perhaps, I should not join too," she reiterated, and Leira never expected her actually to do that. Nevertheless, her gloomy face was so apparent, and it seemed like being someone there to talk to perhaps made her feel better.

"Why not? Is it just because they are not joining you?"

"No! Eer," Dennise breathed before she continued, "I kinda don't like to be alone? You know, joining a sorority isn't like a piece of cake, and I'm also scared. I need to be with a few familiar faces. You know, to lessen my jitters?"

Leira nodded as she understood her needs, and she was actually secretly happy to find this chance to help her and possibly get closer to her crush.

"Do you really like to join? 'Coz, if you do, I will join with you too," Leira suggested.

"Seriously? Do you have any idea about what a sorority looked like? Er, there are initiations, I mean, there is kind of a test that you have to face to be part of that sorority. However, there's a lot of perks, parties, free boarding at the sorority house, and…"

"Damn, you mean members will be staying in the same house?" Leira felt suddenly excited with the idea of staying in the same house with Denisse.

She nodded, smiling with a surprised look. "Well, yeah?"

"Then, sign me in, and we will join together. I think and hope that I'll be enough for that familiar face you need? So you could finally join the sorority," Leira said with full of enthusiasm.

"Oh gosh, thank you, new friend. I mean Liera right? I can finally join the sorority!" Denise suddenly hugged her, which made Liera stiffened and out of her breath for a while.
