POLICE PANICS

The police stopped right in front of the hospital, and the officer went straight to the nurse station as soon as they got inside. He was talking to the nurse on the phone just a while ago. She doesn't want to think about it, but something feels odd, especially when the nurses pointed towards them.

That moment on, Dennise heart started beating frantically. She looked down to herself and to her friends who were still asleep while asking herself.

"Is the police here for us?" She started to believe that what she was thinking might be true as they walked their way to her.

She looked away, pretending that she didn't notice, and tried to wake Zara up. So, at least if what she thought that the police were actually coming for them and about to scrutinize them, at least she wouldn't be alone to answer their question.

Zara already stood up when she was on her way to Ella, trying to wake her up when the police reached them.

"Excuse me, girls? Are you okay?" Asked the police.

Zara, who's half asleep, smiled at the police after yawning.

"Hello, officer, yes and thank you for asking." She looked towards Dennise and asked, her eyes half-open. "Dennise, why did you wake me up?"

Trying not to be bothered by the police men's presence, Dennise answered, "Yden is awake!"

"What Yden is awake?" Zara suddenly lost her somnolence and hastily jumped out of the chair and dash towards Yden.

However, they are not allowed inside the emergency room yet. They can only see Yden's bed surrounded by the nurses who were busy retaking her vitals while a doctor talked with Yden.

The police officers just stood up and observed the girls in the same way Dennise was observing them.

"Wait, where's Leira? Did she already know that Yden is awake?" Zara excitedly asked, and Dennise just simply answered with just a shake in her head. "Wait, I will get Leira."

Zara was about to head on to Leira to the parking lot when Dennise held her hands, stopping her.

Zara furrowed her questioning brow to Dennise. However, Dennise doesn't want to say anything for the policeman to hear. She was just hoping Zara would simply get what she meant with just a simple glance.

And Zara did, when she nodded. Because of that, Zara began to get anxious, and she didn't know why she had to be. However, she has also anticipated that it could be about what happened to Yden.

Dennise on the other hand sneaks out her phone to message Leira.

[Yden, is awake but please don't come here. There are police officers inside, and I'm uneasy about them being here. They seemed like they were waiting for a chance to talk to us. If incase they will send us to the station for some questioning. Try to inform the sorority, besides. We don't know what to say just in case.]

Dennise glanced back apprehensive towards the officer after she tucked her phone back into her pocket.

She was indeed right; after a few moments of letting them see and observe Yden, the police officer ambled towards them and asked. "Excuse me, girls, can we have a word or I rather say, asked a few questions to the three of you?"

Dennise and Zara glance towards each other. Sweat on their forehead starts to crawl down to their cheeks.

While Ella, with a furrowed brow, nodded to the officers.

They all walked back to the waiting area and tried to calm themselves in their seats.

It took a few minutes, but they wondered why the officers didn't ask anything. They also seemed like they were just waiting.

"I thought they were supposed to ask us something. Why are they so silent?" Ella whispered to Zara.

"I don't know what they're trying to do either," Zara muttered in a voice she made sure that only her friends could hear.

After a few minutes under stress and a guessing game of what's really happening and what's with the police men's minds, the same nurse who talked to them advanced towards the officers.

She said something to them, with a vague voice and hard to make out. However, her actions say something, and it was easy for them to guess that she was talking about Yden after she pointed out on Yden.

Yden came out a minute later, after the nurse. She was in a wheelchair, although she looked better, but still looked tired.

Seeing Yden, one of the police officers immediately takes the wheelchair where Yden was seated and pushes her out of the building while the other police officer strides towards the other girls.

"Girls, it's time for us to go."

"Go where?" In unison, the three girls blurted, their eyes widened. But, there's no way for them to insist. They are scared enough to even just simply looking at the huge-built body officer. He can easily pick them up, as a puppy tucked in their side if they ever try to insist against him.

"I had already asked you that I will have just a few questions for you, right?" The officer smiled. He didn't look annoyed at all. Instead, he was displaying an amused face, like he was talking to some little kids.

That expression gave Zara enough courage to talk back.

"Yes, you did, that's why we are waiting for you to ask us a question already, but you never asked. And… Where are you taking my friend? Is she already fine?" Zara's brazen personality came out again. For Ella that came out in a good but scary way.

"Calm down. The doctor assured us that she was fine. She only passed out because of the vasovagal reflex." He was still smiling, and he intended to do it, noticing that the girls were tense and anxious. "However, we still have to bring you to the station to ask you questions. But don't worry about it so much. I know what we are about to ask is easier to answer than your math quotations." He smiled again with a twitched lips.
