The Obelisk: 3rd Return (5)

Rather than addressing the panel, Aectaeon caught something in the corner of his eye that made him flinch.

He immediately turned around and took a big gulp of his salty saliva.

'Was I just mistaken?' He asked himself, 'Is that true? Is that freaking true? I'm not imagining things am I?'

Out of the three, it was only Aectaeon who was looking at the panels. Ralkias and Moire still had their eyes covered with their hands.

Their species were even more sensitive to light than humans. If a flashlight was directed in the eyes of a human, they would feel a slight headache for a short time. After that, they would feel their eyes burning, but in a tolerable manner.

For Ralkias and Moire, the intense light made their heads pound as if they were being beaten by mallets. Fortunately, the two were trained warriors. Such measly pain wouldn't incapacitate them for longer. Since there was no imminent danger, they let their eyes adjust slowly.
