Chapter 4 - The Gate

Endless Plane.

In one of the realms.

On a clearing at the top of a mountain, a middle-aged man with long hair was meditating on a boulder.

It was Nie Feng.

More than a thousand years and a half had passed and his appearance only aged a bit.

It was the result of cultivating until the peak of the Soul Transformation stage, gaining a significant amount of lifespan.

He grew stronger and lived for more than a thousand years, almost similar to the living beings in ancient times. The difference was Nie Feng had a powerful strength while the ancients only had a long lifespan with ordinary strength.

Nie Feng started gaining lifespan when he was at the second stage of cultivation. After that, he gained more lifespan whenever he breakthrough a new stage.

The young Nie Feng, before he obtained Heaven's Blessing, wouldn't have believed that he could live for more than a thousand years.

When he was young, Nie Feng was raised to replace his father as the lord of a clan in the city.

But who knows that Heaven would give him a blessing. The blessing changed his life from then on.

He took his father's position as the clan lord and he cultivated following Heaven's guidance. Amassing his strength.

Then he took over the city as the city lord.

When Nie Feng reaches the peak of the Qi Condensation stage, he conquered a few other cities in the nearby area and proclaimed himself as the King over a quarter of the continent.

That was also the time when the second batch of blessed people appeared.

Years passed and Nie Feng reaches the peak of the Foundation Building stage and had a breakthrough to the Core Formation stage.

The third batch of blessed people appeared and some of the blessed joined Nie Feng, while others created their faction.

This time he conquered half of the continent.

Conflict arises between them. But Nie Feng could easily beat them since he was the strongest.

Peak Core Formation stage.

Nie Feng had now conquered the continent and changes into an empire. The fourth batch of the blessed was also absorbed into his empire.

Conflict still rises but it was just some scuffle between the blessed under Nie Feng.

When he breaks through to the Nascent Soul stage, he went to the sea and flew to two other continents.

There were people with Heaven's Blessing, but they were only at the early stage of Core Formation with no one at the peak.

Then he subdued the blessed and conquered the two continents, making them a part of his massive empire, spanning over three continents.

A few hundred years passed

When Nie Feng finally breakthrough to the Soul Transformation stage, he took back his control over the two continents and let them be independent.

Even his empire's territory in his home continent was reduced to the size of just a city. It might be just a city but a huge one still. It was the capital after all.

Then he withdraws from the worldly affair. It was enough that he had ruled the world for a few hundred years.

He might have a lot of descendants, but that doesn't mean he would let them just take over the empire that he had built from scratch.

Things like that had to be earned, not received. Especially since his descendants can also cultivate because it seems like Heaven's Blessing was passed on even though there were variations.

Nie Feng opened his eyes and stared at the sky thoughtfully.

He was waiting.

Waiting for that flashes of enlightenment from Heaven about the next stage in cultivation.

When Nie Feng opened his eyes, he had sensed something brewing outside the realm. A boundless will had appeared. And just a moment after, it suddenly disappeared.

Then, new knowledge flashes through his mind. And Nie Feng closed his eyes focusing on the images inside his mind.

Lightning Tribulation.

The Gate of Immortality.

Immortal Qi.

Right then, Nie Feng snapped his eyes open.

He knew what to do.

Moments later, Nie Feng activated his full strength and tried to break past the suppressive feeling since he reached this stage.

Dark clouds gathered in the sky above him. A huge gate then appeared amidst the dark clouds.

After the clouds stopped gathering, Nie Feng flew up to the sky while taking out different kinds of treasures to defend himself from the tribulation.

The lightning only strikes after Nie Feng had taken out everything he had as if it was waiting for him.

Boom!

Every time the lightning strikes, a thunderous boom followed.

The tribulation strikes nine times before it stopped and the dark clouds dispersed.

Nie Feng survived but he was in tatters, and injuries filled his body. By the last strike, Nie Feng had been driven back to the mountain. And he was recuperating.

After the clouds dispersed completely, the gate was left hovering in the sky, then it opened.

Nie Feng noticed the opening of the gate instantly.

As the gate was opening, immortal qi started to flow out of the gate and went towards Nie Feng.

Nie Feng directly absorbed them inside his dantian.

Now it was the next step in breaking through.

To transform the soul into an Immortal Soul. Then he can ascend through the gate to the realms above.

A few days later, Nie Feng finally transformed his soul.

After which he went through the gate that had been waiting for him to ascend.
