Gem is a super girl who had been abandoned by her parents in the worst possible place ever.

Despite being a superhuman, Gem was weaker than the lesser superhumans who found it fulfilling to hurt and abuse the elderly and children alike.

The wastelands was a lawless place, so to seek for a better life, Gem was offered to join in an expedition. One that would finally set them free from the abuse.

But this expedition required a lot of courage and sacrifice as it was proven to have little to no chances of success.

And indeed it was a hopeless mission, crossing the flaming border with no equipment? It was as if these people had come here to die!

One by one, Gem saw these people turn into ashes, their high pitched screams adding detail to the brutal flames that has formed an image in her mind resembling hell.

She knew crossing the border was a false hope, but there was no coming back.

"See you in the afterlife!" The cheerful voice of her friend echoed in her memories.

Gem couldn't believe that out of the fifty people that she had come with, only one was able to escape the borders alive. The first one to do so in its entire history.

She laid on the ground, feeling the dampness of the mud cool down her burning skin.

"I... I'm alive? They all turned into ashes... but how did I not?"

No one could believe it, they were all enraged. A little girl was able to survive such brutal flames? How did she do it and what could be the life waiting for her beyond the borders?

The Plains in Super

"W-What happened?" Von coughed aggressively and noticed Lei spacing out beside him while inhaling the cool substance of the said 'bomb' against his bare skin.

"Lei, are you okay?" he asked under the handkerchief he used to filter his nose from the mist.

Lei came back to his senses when Von tugged his arms a little bit. "Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry, I freaked out a little bit there. Are you okay?" he asked Von in a composed manner that Von couldn't help but feel that something was wrong with him.

When things like this happened before, Lei would usually carry him out of the area to keep him safe, but why was he acting so calm right now? He was not even protecting himself from the suspicious substance that was surrounding them!

"I guess? Aren't you supposed to keep me safe? And why are you not protecting yourself from this... weird thing." Von said while fanning the area around his face.

Wrong
