Blind Chase

"B... Bea... Beansp... can... hear...! Beansprout, can you hear me!" A faint voice, as if someone would call him from far away, woke him up. It reached him like a small ray of light piercing through the darkness. "Hold it together Beansprout!" It was Morell's voice.

"We can't drag him anymore, leave him behind!"

"No! He... saved us we can't lea... behind like that!"

Multiple, to Bao unknown voices, started to discuss and decide his fate while his consciousness faded, just to return soon after. He woke up once again but this time without the noise of people screaming, the discussion seemed to have reached a conclusion in his absence. The moment he concentrated on his eyes, they finally opened a crack wide, revealing a blurry image of what seemed to be Nathan. But what confused Bao, was that he saw him from a down-upwards perspective and witnessed his own feet being dragged over the ground. He couldn't feel a limb in his body and yet he seemed to move forward.

"Ugh... cough... argh... my... my whole body... hurts," Bao grunted, before falling right back into the darkness barely hearing his comrades' voices.

"He is still alive!" Nathan's scream of rejoice sounded like a soft whisper in Bao's ears. "We need to hurry, there is still hope for him!"

"Don't stop running, we can make it!" Again Morell's voice, this time coming from behind of him. "We'll get you out of here and patch you back up, you'll see, you'll be as good as new! Don't you dare die on me Beansprout!"

What was going on out there? Why did they want to leave him behind and from what were they fleeing? These unsettling thoughts roamed through his head while he could only listen to the hurrying footsteps and the rustling gravel underneath, whatever thing they had placed him.

A stone on the ground let him make a small flip, shaking through his whole body.

"Hey watch out he's going to fall off!" Nathan scolded whoever was dragging Bao.

Again the darkness grabbed his consciousness and pulled it down into the abyss of nothingness.

"Let us in...! We... have a wounded here... beg you! Yo... can't just lea... us... die!"

"We can't let anyone in by the order of... in person!"

"There are children and won..., do you really want their..."

"Fast, get through it or... caught... run!!"

"They're right... us... we won't make it like this, ... leave... on the ground!"

The pauses between words grew larger with every second, making it impossible for him to understand what was going on. All the screams from voices he could not recognize only added to the confusion and chaos of the situation.

For a brief moment, the darkness took control over his consciousness.

"David?! What happened to him?" This time it was Elincias soft and melodic voice that rang in his ears with a note of worry in it. "Lay him on that free spot there in the corner, I'll take a look at him immediately!"

In the background could be heard moans and cries of pain from several people.

Hands, as soft as a cushion palpated over his body and always when they went near the shoulder or waist a wave of sharp pain went through the head down to the tips of the toes. But he couldn't scream nor move, to signalize his discomfort when touching those places.

"You already stopped the bleeding, that's good but... wrong. Shit! ... is poisoned, just what... hell... !" The voice of an angle even when swearing, thought Bao amidst the broken fragments of her sentences. "Bring me some... no, the blue one....! Dammit David... you promised...!"

For the last time that day, he fell into a deep slumber. In the darkness, he heard the faint robotic voice Orbisterra's.
