A few hours later, in Darkcon's and Kainik's bedroom. The room was soundproof so no one could hear the screaming inside.
"WHY THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT??!! YOU PUT OUR SON IN A LIFE-OR-DEATH BATTLE AND MADE HIM KILL A MAN?!" Darkcon screamed in anger at Kainik. "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING TO PULL THAT BULLSHIT!!??"
"WE BOTH KNOW THAT THE BOY NEEDS TRAINING, AND IF HE DOESN'T HAVE THE RESOLVE TO KILL, WE ARE ALL DOOMED!" Kainik retorted. HE WILL INEVITABLY HAVE TO KILL SOMEONE DURING THE MISSION, AND WE NEED TO GET HIM READY FOR THAT!!!"
"I know, I know." Darkcon calmed down and stopped screaming. "But he's too young right now. we could have waited."
"The longer we wait, the weaker he will be during the mission. I love him as much as you do but he needs to go through this." Kainik sighed as he turned around to leave. "I'm going to go comfort him."
"NO!!" Darkcon looked at Kainik as if he were an idiot. "You are the last person he wants to see. I'll go." Darkcon got strode over the door and opened it, walking briskly through the halls until she gets to Darknik's room.
Darkcon opened the door, revealing Darknik crying with his head in his hands. The scene of him beheading the Enforcer played out through Darknik's head over and over again, that look of surprise and hatred on the head's face.
He killed a person who wasn't even an adult yet and he didn't even know his name! Darknik's hands felt like they were being stung by a thousand wasps, those same hands he used to cut through the Enforcer's sword, then his head.
Darknik was to shaken up to notice Darkcon's intrusion, so he didn't realize she was there until she touches his shoulder, making him jump.
"Are you okay?" Darkcon asked with concern evident on her face. Darknik shook his head and started speaking.
"I keep seeing his face o-over and over again, f-f-f-flying off of his headless b-b-body. It just h-happened so suddenly." Darknik said while sniffling, trying to stop his tears from falling.
"I-I tried to stop it but it was too late, I feel like a monster. Why did dad make me do that? I just don't understand."
"Look, you are not a monster for killing that person." Darkcon said assertively. "Do you think someone who would give a little girl to people who would beat and exploit her is a good person?"
"N-n-no."
"Then you don't have to feel guilty. And your dad did this for a reason. He needed to know if you are ready to kill. Although I can't tell you now, when you get older you will be going on a very difficult mission, and this will involve the fate of the entire Sentourian race. You will need to be strong, and you will need to kill in order to complete this mission. Even if you can't forgive your dad, I want you to give him a chance. For now, we will be extending your break to one week, so I want you to think about things and calm down, okay?'
"Y-yes, I understand."
"Good, go ahead and rest for a while, if you need me just yell out, and I'll be there in a flash." With that, Darkcon left the room, quietly closing the door.
Darknik laid back and relaxed as he thought about what happened. Even though he understands why his dad had to do this, he is still angry. Thinking that he just needs more time to think about it, Darknik starts making plans for the next week.
Slowly, Darknik drifts to sleep, dreaming about the events that happened that day.
