Chapter 22 – Login Again

Glen decided to download the Beast Life app but unfortunately, the app was unavailable in the app store. He found it weird and searched about it online.

Glen found out that the app would go live on Sunday. He was disappointed but he did not mind waiting.

He watched the video again and found out that the launch date was stated at the end of the video. He was so excited about the app that he missed it.

Since he had nothing else to do, Glen went online to see the latest news and most of them were about Beast Life. The app caused a massive buzz around the world and they were all positives.

Many people were talking about it on social media and they were all excited to bring their pet beasts to the real world.

Some said that they could not have real pets due to allergy or their parents or family dislike them but now, they could have digital pets which would not cause any allergy. Also, taking care of digital pets was easier than real pets.

Those with real pets were excited to see their real pet's interaction with the digital pets. It would be amusing to see the cat's reaction to the weird-looking 'animal'. Also, the dog reacts to them too and it would probably bark at the digital pets a lot.

There were a lot of articles that appeared online regarding the new app and it even made it into the tv news all around the world. Everyone was reporting on it because this was massive.

The three legendary games never did this because their game's core was different. In the three legendary games, monsters and beasts were enemies for them to defeat.

Although there was a taming profession, not all players choose that, and thus, the players were usually all by themselves.

After this news came out, the tamers in the three legendary games demanded the games to let them have their pets in the real world too but there was no response from the developer.

Still, they did not mind it because they played Beast Life too and the three legendary games' tamed beasts or monsters' care was not as detailed as Beast Life. Thus, it is fine to leave them alone in the game.

While the world was happy with Beast Life, Glen continued with his work. After the announcement made by Beast Life, many new players started playing the game. They did not want to miss the chance to have their digital pets too.

Glen could easily see this because it was happening in his internet café. It was still morning but the place was fully booked by people. On the monitor monitoring the usage of the customers at the counter, all of them were playing Beast Life.

Furthermore, 70% of the current customers were new customers. They came to the internet café and registered to become a member to get a discount when using the VR Device. This meant they would continue coming in the future.

The internet café's business was booming.

Nowadays, everyone has their VR Device at home. The device had become cheap as time passed.

Still, Glen knew why many of them came to the internet café to play. They wanted to play with their friends and when the app went live, they would show off and compare their pet to everyone.

Doing that in the game was different from real life. The feeling was different and thus, they were eager to play the game outside their home and with their friends.

'I guess many people want to try having a dragon or tiger as a pet,' Glen giggled. He also thought that he was more ridiculous to have a bubble as his pet.

Time passed and soon, it was time to close the internet café. The café was a bit hectic that day because there were too many people.

Many of the regular customers did not get to use the VR device because there was no device available for them to use.

There was nothing Glen could do but he believed that the situation would turn as usual again after everyone had enough time showing off their pets or when their pet's appearance was lost to others.

After Glen closed the business, he checked on his siblings and got back to his room. He took a shower and plopped on the bed after that.

He felt extremely tired that night. The reason was that he was running in the morning and taking care of the suddenly busy business the whole day alone.

'I should consider hiring a part-timer if this continues for a long time…' Glen thought. Or I should buy some bots to help take care of the café. They are more trustable than humans.'

Glen wore the VR device and login to Beast Life. The update was automatically downloaded by the device and thus, Glen could immediately start playing.

He appeared in an empty room. The previous blunder did not happen this time because he booked the room for a month. Bubbly was not in the room and Glen immediately got out of the room to get Bubbly.

"Once the app goes live, I don't need to book a room anymore. I can log out from my Private Room and bring Bubbly with me to the real world," Glen mumbled as he descended the stairs.

When Glen stepped to the first floor, he was surprised to see that there were many people around. It was usually pretty empty but it was different that day.

"Oh! You are finally back," Bertha spoke. Glen saw the inn employees were scuttling around serving the customers.

"Yeah…" Glen replied and added, "I guess the business is good today."

"There are suddenly many new players appearing. I really want to know why you guys call yourselves a player," Bertha spoke. "And why is there suddenly a lot of you here?"

Glen smiled at Bertha. He did not know what to reply.

"But this is good too. With so many players around, we will be able to pass through the beast tide without much problem this season," Bertha smiled.

"You guys are good with space elements too. Even when you are defeated in the wild, you guys were teleported back to the village. We can evade a lot of casualties this way," Bertha added.

"I hope they will be helpful…" Glen mumbled.

"What did you say?" Bertha asked.

"Hmm? Nothing," Glen smiled. This was a game after all and the players could play the game in any way they liked. Even if there would be big events like the storyline mission, not all of them would want to contribute to the mission.

So, Glen did not put much hope in them. Moreover, most of them started playing the game to get a few beasts to bring back home. They did not play the game seriously.

"So, have you figured out something to upgrade my Silfra?" Bertha asked.

"I have deduced a method for Silfra but I cannot guarantee the result. The upgrade may turn out well but it may not be what you like," Glen replied.

"Hmm…" Bertha was thinking for a bit. "Sigh~ Just do it. I know without any references, it is impossible to predict what Silfra will turn out after the upgrade. We will just rely on luck. I hope she will look fine," Bertha made up her mind.

"I am sure it will turn out good," Glen replied.
