Prince

The party ended and the guest left the house leaving the royal family behind at the hall. Elena and her ladies made their way to their rooms after the guests left. She wanted nothing more than to sleep and forget everything that happened tonight. In all her five hundred years she has never had such a terrible birthday like the one that just ended. Her heart was filled with rage and sorrow.

On one hand she heard lost the first man she has ever liked and on the other hand she had to share her future husband with the one person she hates the most. Elsie was her sister but she hated her guts to the bone. She didn't bother to take a bath and went straight to bed. She dismissed all her ladies, she was not in the mood for anything and wanted to be alone.

She couldn't fall asleep due to the things that troubled her heart. She stayed awake gazing at the ceiling of her room thinking about what to do. There had to be a way to fix her problems that made sure she would never have to see Elsie's face again. She heard her door open and became alert, whoever came in was doing their best not to make a sound but she could hear his movements. She could tell he was a man because of how he was dressed. It puzzled her what a man would be doing in her room, then it occurred to her that it could be an assassination. Her eyes turned dark grey and she teleported out of the room and to the forest.

She had no control over her power and was only learning to use them. She aimed to end up in her grandmother's room but found herself in the middle of the dark forest. She started striding around trying to find her way home. She enjoyed the peace she got from the forest, it took away all her previous worries. Her peaceful walk was cut short when she saw glowing eyes running towards her. She got to her feet and took off at her vampire speed but whatever creature was chasing her was catching. She used her extra super speed to run away from it but it kept on her toes.

She had no idea what kind of creature was chasing her but if frightened her. Her mother's words ran in her, " A werewolf bite can kill a vampire," she really wished that whatever was chasing her was not a fury overgrown dog. She ran but yelped when the creature jumped over her and took her by the hand.

"Why are you out here at this time of night, I could have killed you!" he shouted and she opened her eyes on hearing the familiar voice. She saw him and froze because standing in front of her was a perfectly built naked man. Her eyes wandered around his body from head to toe over and over again. She wanted to close her eyes but they refused to listen and took in the perfect sculpture of a man on display.

"What are you looking at? I believe I asked you a question, why are you here?" he asked her but her mind was busy taking in every inch of him to hear what he said. Esteban looked down to see what she was staring at and saw that he didn't have any clothes on. He felt like crawling into the earth out of embarrassment.

"I went for a run and left my clothes back there," he said taking her outer robe and covering himself up.

"Hey, my robe gives it back," she said.

"Why do you enjoy seeing me naked?" he asked and she kicked him in the leg.

"That hurt. What is the princess doing out here at this time of the night?" he asked and she walked away from him. " None of your business," she said.

"Okay," he said and went the opposite direction.

She kept walking for a while before she realized that he was not following her. "So inconsiderate, he could have at least walked me home," she complained.

She walked and walked but she wasn't reaching her kingdom. She decided to just sit down and rest. "It is weird, I didn't smell his scent again. He was also very fast for a werewolf. He seems to be more powerful than he appears to be at first glance, she could even say that she met her match.

" Who are you mysterious werewolf?" she asked the trees, "What do I care anyway he is just a dog like the rest of the shapeshifters and I do not like dogs," she added.

She shut her eyes and rested under the tree. Esteban who had followed her after getting his clothes couldn't believe what she just said. His mate hated his kind and went as far as to call them dogs. He hated being called that and he did not expect her to say something like that. He didn't want to be around her anymore and left.

"Where are you heading to?" asked Elena who felt his gaze and followed him.

"None of your business," he answered her and continued walking.

"But I want to make it my business," she said leaning on his shoulder. "I thought you hated dogs then why?" he asked her.

She remained quiet and didn't speak, that was one topic that she didn't like to discuss. She had her reasons for hating werewolves but she never liked to talk about it. He looked into her eyes and saw the pain that she was trying to hide. He could tell that she must have heard a bad experience with werewolves that must have made her hate them.

"I am going home to get some sleep," he said changing the topic to make it less uncomfortable for her.

"What?" she asked confused at what he said.

"You asked me where I am going so I answered you," he explained. He walked further to the forest and she followed behind him quietly. She didn't know why she was following him, she just knew that she wanted his company.

"I just remembered that I don't know you. What is your name?" she inquired.

"Esteban," he replied and they kept on.

They arrived at the end of the forest. There was nothing but a clearing and she wondered if he was homeless but he walked up to the clearing and drew a rune in the air and a castle appeared. Elena was amazed at how beautiful the castle was, it was designed in such a way that it could match her own kingdom's castle.

"Who are you?" she asked him but he didn't reply.

"Welcome back your majesty, should I make some refreshments for you and your guest?" asked an aged man that looked like he had seen years on earth and attained wisdom from it.

"Your majesty?" she uttered trying to process what she heard. Was he a prince or a king was what went through her mind.

"Yes, prince Esteban Escobedo of Izmia," answered the old man.

Elena sat down drinking her tea thinking about all her encounters with the crown prince of Izmia. She was confused and surprised at a very high level, he never gave off the aura of royalty but she felt cheated that he didn't tell her who she was. "I love him and he lied to her," she said angrily. She was not going to stay at a liar's house but she also didn't want to leave so she braced herself and relaxed on the bed she was offered.

"Are you awake?" asked the prince before coming in. He laid on the bed and stared at her. "I couldn't sleep so I thought I should check on you. How are you?" he asked but received silence as a reply. She had closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.

"I know you are awake," he said but nothing. She had decided to give him the silent treatment. "Are you not talking to me?" he asked and still got no response. He placed his hand on her waist and squeezed it gently but she refused to wake or talk to him.
