The blood rain (2)

Elsie had her hand in the blood rain and somehow the black blood made her feel uneasy. She like the others thought that the rain was a blessing from the gods but the blessings made her stomach fall. She tried to figure out about the mysterious rain but nothing came up from the books that she was reading.

There was no book in the library, she had all the female servants searching every book to see if she could track the roots of the mysterious rain. But all her fruits bore no fruit since there was nothing written about any black blood rain.

Esteban watched the rain from his room and wondered what the princess was up to. He reached his hand out to the rain and let it fall on his hand. He could hear whispers in the rain but not make out the exact words. He listened attentively to hear the words but the language was unfamiliar to him. He ran out of his room to go see Elena and find out the truth about the black blood rain. And the message is hidden inside it.

He ran into someone on his way and they fell to the ground. He looked up to see the person who fell on him, looking back at him was lady Lola. He got up and helped her up too. " I am sorry, I was in a hurry and bumped into you," he said apologetically.

Lola didn't reply to him and didn't even look at him and walked past him. Feeling that Lola must have been offended by him and was still angry at him, he followed her and continued to apologize. No matter what he said Lola continued in her path and ignored him. He felt that something was not right with the girl. For one she wasn't responding to him and two; she was walking wirelessly without even blinking her eyes.

He found Lola's behavior to be very weird and decided to follow her to see where she was going. He followed behind her quietly hoping to find out what the problem was. Lola walked out of the palace and ran out of the kingdom with Esteban keeping up with her. She stopped at the forbidden forest far away from the three kingdoms and began to walk again. Her steps were counted.

Not long after she started walking again Esteban noticed some other blue blood vampires behaving in the same way. They were all walking in the same direction and it wasn't one but many vampires. He too copied Lola and started acting as she did so as not to stand out, he followed Lola closely to protect her in case of any danger.

They came to a clearing where vampires more than his eyes could see or count stood proudly. They weren't just any kinds of vampires but they were all pure blue blood like Lola. He watched in awe the massive number of vampires gather in the clearing in a straight line. One behind and beside the other.

"Welcome," said a man at the front whose face Esteban couldn't see from where he stood. "If you are here then it means that you are loyal to the true queen of Atria. To Elena," he shouted.

"To Elena," the crowd of vampires responded in unison.

"Now we have our orders. Conquer Enchansia before midnight tonight but before we all venture out to perform this task. You all need to go through a few transformations, blood will be passed around enough for everyone. All you have to do is take a sip and pass the cup to the next person," he said and other sets of blue blood vampires showed up with blood in cups and passed them around.

Each vampire took one sip of the blood and passed it to the next person as instructed. It was Esteban's turn to drink the blood. He took a sip and opened his eyes wide as realization hit him. The blood was Elena's blood, it was rare black blood and he would never forget the taste of Elena's blood. He watched as the cups were taken away once everyone had a sip.

The next thing he knew the vampires were falling to the ground one by one from the ones who drank the blood first. They growled and roared in pain on the ground as their bodies started changing. Bones were breaking and reforming everywhere, he recognized the process as he had gone through it.

"They are turning into werewolves," he muttered.

As not to get discovered as the fraud he too transformed into his werewolf form. The other vampires followed suit including Lola.

"From now on you all are true blue blood hybrids," announced the man on the stage and all the werewolves howled. The werewolves went for a ran in the forbidden forest and hunted down anything they could find that had blood in their system and ate it. Esteban didn't join the hunt instead he hid in the trees and watched the vampires who were now werewolves devour everything in their path.

He specifically kept his eyes on one vampire and that was Lola. She was Elena's friend and he didn't want anything to happen to her.

"Where are you, Esteban? The ceremonies to your Coronation are about to begin," said his mother. She was communicating with him through the jade necklace that made silent things heard.

He ignored the call and kept on watching out for Lola but his mother was no quitter. She kept calling for him repeatedly until he replied and told her that he would go back soon. He let out a heavy breath and decided to go back to the palace. Whatever was going on, he would probably find out about it soon and Lola was probably safe. She was among many who were like her and surely nothing can happen to her. He said to himself to console his worried heart.

He had to admit that creating hybrids was Elena's best idea yet. Especially true blue blood hybrids, they would break the balance of things as with their existence the pure blue blood vampires would become the third powerful creatures in existence. Other than her who was pure black blood and himself the hybrids will be the next in line of power.

He felt proud and scared at the same of the woman who stole his heart. She looked innocent and cute on the outside or even a little naughty but he had come to know her true colors. And had he not been in a land where those with power have the last say and the rule was 'eat or be eaten' he would have found her to be a bad person. But there was nothing wrong with surviving.

"For the love of our true queen," he heard a chant from where he was and smiled. He could now proceed with all these stupid formalities with his wife in peace. He believed that it won't be long before Elena took back everything that belongs to her and saves him from the hell everyone calls marriage.

He whistled a happy tune as he imagined how beautiful his life would be if he got married to Elena. They would be happy and build a beautiful family with three children. Two boys and one girl, the boys would take after him while the girl would take after their mother.
