After he finished sorting out his equipments, Pei Zeyan proceeded to walk along the trail of the river. This river was a small one but it had a lot of fish. The water was in good condition and the ecosystem in the river was suitable for fishing, especially down to the breakwater across the restaurant.
Moreover, it was a private-owned river that was bought by the owner of the riverside restaurant. He knew the restaurant owner personally so he usually came here to fish alone.
Despite being a young master from a wealthy family, Pei Zeyan surprisingly didn't like the typical sports games that his circle of friends did. He didn't care about cars and racing, even clubbing during weekends.
He preferred quiet atmosphere and indoor games better. He loved nature more than anything else. That was why he developed fishing as a hobby. His friends always teased him as being too nerdy. As a former student council president, why couldn't he be nerdy?
They teased him for being a textbook guy that it only upped the standards when he was hanging out with them. It didn't help either since he exuded both charming and green flag vibe towards women. Wouldn't this double the effort his friends had to make to impress girls?
A ringtone was heard from his phone in his hand. Pei Zeyan slowed his steps and answered it. He frowned instinctively.
"I just finished. Why?"
"We're going karaoke tonight, so let's hang out!" one of his best friends said.
"I'm busy so I won't go," Pei Zeyan clicked his tongue. He didn't know what was there to see in the club.
"Aw... come on! You just said you finished fishing. Did you get anything?" the friend said good-naturedly, as if oblivious to Pei Zeyan's disdain.
Pei Zeyan took a glance towards his bucket he held in one hand, and there were two big fish of the same kind swimming inside.
"I'm not going to give it to you guys to grill," he said, already learning his lesson.
At this moment, he had already arrived near the high-end restaurant. He looked over and found that the restaurant was too quiet. He immediately assumed there was a special reservation today.
'The people inside must be influential,' he knew that in order to reserve the entire restaurant, one must have connections with the owner. And the owner was actually a billionaire who owned famous casinos in big cities.
Suddenly, a group of people walked out from the restaurant. They all looked aged but were wearing refine suits and dresses. One look could tell that they were rich and influential.
Surprisingly, Pei Zeyan recognized half of them.
"Quze Industries people...?" The Pei's wasn't in the same industry but he still knew them because of how large their conglomerate was.
"?!" he soon saw a person he didn't expect to be there. A man who held some resemblance with his younger sister's late fiance.
Li Shaoze.
The five core directors of Quze Industries soon began to disperse. They went to their respective vehicle and bid goodbye to Li Shaoze. Liu Gang was the last person to excuse himself as he didn't forget to come closer towards the younger man, giving him a brief hug.
"Remember to come to the headquarters often. You'll be in the country for quite some time, right?" Liu Gang smiled.
"I will. Thank you, chairman-"
"I told you to stop calling me that. You'll be the chairman soon anyway," Li Shaoze just nodded awkwardly.
"Call me whenever you're free. I want you to keep in touch, okay?" Liu Gang left behind many advices and reminders before he finally left.
When the back of his car was no longer seen, Li Shaoze moved from his spot. He heaved up a sigh. The old man never ceased to amaze him whenever they met. He was always looking out for Li Shaoze and it made him grateful.
"Li Shaoze?"
"...?" Li Shaoze turned around and saw a handsome man he didn't recognize. The man was holding a bucket in his left hand and a fishing rod in another. A backpack was hung on his lean shoulder.
Pei Zeyan thought he wouldn't remember so he introduced himself, "I'm Pei Zeyan. Pei Qian's older brother,"
Li Shaoze became surprised and he nodded his head in acknowledgement. He gave a curt reply, "I'm flattered that you know me, Mr. Pei,"
"Just call me by my name, please. We're the same age anyway," Pei Zeyan smiled as he held out a handshake which was later accepted by Li Shaoze after a brief stare.
"Alright, Pei Zeyan. But I don't think we've met before," he was asking why Pei Zeyan seemed to know his name and age.
"Like I said, we're the same age. And we went to the same high school. So it's obvious that I know you,"
Li Shaoze was even more surprised when he heard that. He thought he had been acting low-key and mediocre. But there were still people who had an impression of him more than a decade ago?
When Pei Zeyan saw Li Shaoze's subtle reaction, he was convinced that the man before him had been the same person he knew from the past where he saw him for the first time during graduation.
'He really is outstanding,' looking at Li Shaoze's gait now, he didn't change much. He had always been moderate but firm. His aura was subtle yet long-lasting.
"I was the student council president back then, so I recognized you when I saw you back then at the funeral," Pei Zeyan mentioned the funeral carefully.
"Though it's late but I'm sorry for your loss. Li Junfeng is a good man for my sister and I know him personally too. I just didn't expect things could turn out this way," he continued, a sad smile plastered on his lips.
Seeing his apologetic appearance, Li Shaoze kept quiet. He just nodded slowly to indicate that it was fine. He didn't know how to deal with Pei Qian's older brother so he planned to excuse himself.
However, Pei Zeyan suddenly invited him for a homemade grill.
"I got two fish in here so why don't you accompany me to grill them? Let's get to know each other," Pei Zeyan had a thought that getting to know Li Shaoze was a good thing.
He didn't know why, but he just got the feeling. Perhaps it was because he had a good impression of Li Junfeng so he wanted to get to know his brother too. And Pei Zeyan couldn't deny that he was slightly curious about Li Shaoze. Moreover, he had always trusted his instinct so this time should be fine too.
The man just screamed mysterious but not in a bad way.
'It's good to make a new acquaintance once in a while,' he mused.
