Old Lady

"Well, it all started when my car almost ran over this poor grandma. Then we…" Hea-Jung began, her tone oddly casual.

"Wait a minute!" Joon-won interrupted, his face a picture of shock. "Don't just gloss over the fact that you almost ran over an old lady. What do you mean by 'almost ran her over'? It's a miracle you're not in jail right now. Why are you acting like it's no big deal?"

Hea-Jung waved a hand dismissively. "It really wasn't a big deal. She jumped in front of my car out of nowhere. If I hadn't slammed on the brakes in time, I'd be in jail. That old woman was trying to end her life, and she chose my car for it. I was furious at that moment."

Joon-won was stunned by her revelation. He had envisioned a completely different scenario, one where Hea-Jung was the villain. Looking over at the elderly woman now cheerfully cooking their meal, it was hard to reconcile the image of her as someone who had been desperate enough to attempt suicide.
