Searching for a weapon

Casper was facing a tough problem for the time being.

Meanwhile that huge barbarian was chasing after him like a crazy man, the battle between the other members of the faction was getting more and more intense.

It has been some time since he could not pay too much attention to Alfar, and that was what worried him even more. If he was so incompetent at fighting as Casper expected, then he would probably be in trouble at that time.

It was difficult to find someone in specific among so many people spread through the canteen fighting for their lives.

Casper had the vague sensation of his body hair standing on end, as if a type of bad omen, but he couldn't find anything that gave the hint if something dangerous about to happen.

If anything, the only and major danger he was needing to deal with at that point was that giant.

Casper was standing in front of him, who had just hit the table that the soldier was hiding behind before.

The White warrior was amazed by how much stamina that guy had, which was one of the main disadvantages he had in the battle. When fighting with someone as huge and monstrous, one would surely expect a loss of energy two times more than normal.

"If he will not run out of gas here, then I will need to resort to another way… But I can't really keep up running, otherwise, I will mess up with my ankle even more. And I still need to fight more after beat this freaking stubborn man…"

A chill descended through his spine when the Barbarian started to charge his legs, his body getting reddened again. He prepared himself.

"Another burst! Prepare yourself, soldier!" Casper warned himself. Moments after, the giant jumped upwards, drawing a huge bow on the air and falling right above Casper.

The soldier somersaulted to the side, his enemy smashing the floor with his body as if he was an anvil.

Casper was hoping that he would take a while to recover, but that was not the case. The giant jumped again right after he landed on the floor.

Instinctively, the White warrior dodged to the left, throwing his body on the ground and avoiding his attack again.

Restlessly, he continued to leap in all directions, always chasing after Casper, launching his body like a missile.

It was harder for the soldier to avoid such powerful attacks with an ankle so hurt and in pain.

"If my strength isn't enough, then I will need to resort to support!"

He continued bringing the Barbarian with him through the canteen, letting him jump and punch as he pleased. More and more prisoners were getting harmed because of his rush, and they started to retaliate.

Soon, a bunch of men was grouping around him and trying to do any damage. It was not being too effective, but Casper didn't need that they did too much; just giving him some time was enough.

He ran through the exit of the canteen, running at a pace that not increased the harm in his ankle.

"Without any guns, I can't find a way to beat this guy. My bare hands aren't enough, I should have had taken note of it since the start."

Casper was thinking about how he could find any weapons that would help him in his battle.

He had a realization, then, but got stopped when the ground started to tremble.

He didn't need to look behind to know that that Barbarian was running after him again. The soldier did not expect that he would stay for too long held by that people, but he would like that it was a bit more longer.

In front of him, in the middle of the corridor, was a turn to the left.

He peeked over his shoulder, the man was stepping on the ground powerfully with his strong legs and getting closer at an alarming pace.

When he was about to reach Casper, the soldier broke his rhythm and turned to the left, the giant past him, and even when he tried to stop, he just slid to the end of the corridor, hitting the wall.

Casper didn't lose time and kept running for his life.

It was when he found what he was searching for: far away from where he was, a Ridire was also running in the corridor, talking at the communicator in his hand, while carrying the red and black rifle of the Ridires.

He wasn't at a pace that Casper couldn't catch up. The problem was finishing him and steal his gun before the giant could reach him.

It took not so much time for the Ridire to notice Casper running in the corridor. He was about to raise his gun and surrender him, but a man 2,5 meters tall, as big as a bear, turned running into that corridor.

The Ridire got shocked to the point of not moving an inch and just keep staring with fear at that monster.

"Forget about finishing him, just pick up the gun!"

Casper jumped towards that warrior, stealing his rifle and stopping his rush. He turned to that Barbarian the moment he could be able to stop, pointed the gun, aimed at him in a matter of seconds, then opened fire.

Even though his shoulder was getting numb because of the recoil of the gun, Casper kept his finger pressed on the trigger, maintaining the barrel as steady as he could.

Each bullet pierced the skin, causing afterward small explosions, its shattered fragments getting stuck at his flesh.

Unfortunately, he kept running as if nothing was happening.

When the rifle cartridge deflated, Casper got the pistol on the waist of the paralyzed Ridire, firing against the threat again.

The same happened, the gun ran out of ammunition, and the man didn't stop. Now, he was dangerously close.

Casper threw the pistol aside and catch the last useful thing that Ridire had with him.

"I saw one of these things working once in the prisoners, and even in the midwest battle!"

With the last remnant of hope he had, Casper ran towards the Barbarian, taking with him a tool that looked like a pen painted in black and red.

The enemy tried to smash him with both hands, jumping and attacking like a gorilla.

Casper jumped, passing between his enormous hands. With unbelievable precision, he pierced the remaining eye of that infuriated man, who screamed like a beast again.

Following that, he pressed the button of that tool, and after two seconds full of tension, the pen-like device makes a vibrating sound.

After this, the Barbarian didn't move again, his arms fell beside the body, then he kneeled… until his upper body fell to the ground with a loud thud.

"I don't know the substance that these injections have, but it surely is effective." Casper finally could catch his breath, crouching on the floor to regain his cool.

The Ridire had already run away, and he was not in the mood to chase after him. It would be pointless as well, that guy represented no harm.

Casper stood up after a while. He looked at the cameras of the laboratory, not knowing who was watching him on the other side. However, he was sure that someone was there, and could see him.

He raised his middle finger and pointed to one of the cameras, then started to walk away.

It took some time for him to remember all the way back to Block F, but not too much. As his memory was awesome, even after a time of despair like that he could assimilate his surroundings.

He was so tired mentally that he forgot to pick the weapons of that Ridire. Although the ammunition was with him, and he didn't know how to charge them with bullets and energy as well, it could be useful somehow.

However, he was not in a time when he could expect too much for him. If not for that Ridire, he could have ended up having a really hard battle, in which he did not know if he could win.

"Don't worry. Don't be shocked. You are always fighting battles that you can't win… And until you become stronger, it will always be like this." He clenched his fists.

Casper got closer to Block F's canteen. Inside there, he couldn't hear anything. It was like everyone stopped to fight and just got silent.

The soldier got even more cautious. He could not believe in that situation. It mas unlikely that everyone would just calm down so suddenly.

When he got next to the exit and took a look inside the canteen, every prisoner there was staring flabbergasted towards the middle of that place. Their eyes were showing fear and disturbance, totally petrified at that sight.

Casper rapidly zigzagged between them, and finally could be able to see what was going on there.

In the middle of the canteen, a bunch of men on the floor… No, a bunch of corpses, with their bodies ripped and torn.

And among that pile of corpses, just one man standing.

It took a while for Casper to recognize him.

"A-Alfar?"
