Chapter 41

AZARADAN

Morning

Pain rippled across Kro's chest, upwards. It felt bitter, the air felt too cold, but her body was burning with fever. The eyes felt heavy to open, same were all her body parts trying to function. Her systems were dying slowly, not that she had any idea about that. Finally, her eyes opened, to a smaller diameter, but everything she saw being blurry.

Her body ached badly, but nothing compared to her shoulder. It felt like a wild boar was currently yanking her muscles apart. A painful moan escaped her dry, chapped lips. She was puzzled just by the fact that she was alive while the pain was enough to kill her.

Kenna walked in the room, carrying a bowl of water and a piece of cloth. It was the usual morning routine to wipe her sister's body. At first, she thought of it as an eye trick when she saw Kro moving, but when she got closer, a ray of joy shone on her, that it brought tears in her eyes. Her sister was nothing but awake.
