Jealous Fiancée,

"I'm sorry." Ashton said in a serious tone.

It was so out of the blue that Cara's jaw dropped on the floor. "Did the arrogant CEO Ashton Crafter just apologized to me for being such an ass?" Cara chuckled.

"No, of course not. Why would I do that?" He answered defensively.

"Your arrogance is truly through the roof." Cara hissed at Ashton, who felt victorious about that terse exchange.

"In my vocabulary, I call it confidence; definitely not arrogance. You just can't accept that a person at my caliber exists." Ashton further establishes his self assurance.

"Whatever, Ashton. Since you can't stop talking about it, I will check that post." Cara sneered at Ashton.

"What the fudge! Bren!" Cara exclaimed.

"What? Who?" Ashton asked, the befuddled woman beside him.

Cara's eyes widened while reading the news article shared on her news feed. She swallowed hard before she read it out loud to Ashton.

"A case of murder and suicide in the small town of Levindale. A young adult identified as Brenan Collins stabbed his mom and little sister to death with a weapon that is similar to an ice pick or a screwdriver but bigger. He then killed himself. "Cara read the grim details and regretted it instantly.

"Hmm, what a load of crap." Ashton said, without a hint of doubt.

"What do you mean?" Cara instantaneously asked Ashton, who sounded so sure of himself.

"They are like you. The weapon used was a wand." He gave an answer that Cara did not expect.

"How did you know?" Cara still baffled about Ashton's revelation.

"The weapon used gave it away. Your kind will only get killed with a wand used by a witch hunter and nothing else, not even a car crash." He clarified to Cara. "Besides, do you think that young lad would kill himself?"

Cara nodded, agreeing with Ashton's analysis. "Then they really are in a hunt for us now." Cara mumbled with a cue of fear in her voice.

"Hey, are you scared?" Ashton looked in Cara's direction.

"Some weirdoes are killing my kind. How can I not be scared?" Cara looked at Ashton with a full display of her vulnerability.

"What the heck, Cara. You are the strongest of them all. You can protect your people and even protect mine." Ashton reassured Cara of her abilities.

"So, you think I can defeat them?" She asked.

"Without a doubt." He replied.

"How?" Cara is clueless about her power.

"Marry me first." Ashton replied.

Cara blushed after she heard those words. She knows this is an agreement, but somehow the way he said it… it made her feel wanted.

"Don't blush babe, this is just an agreement." Ashton noticed her red face in an instant.

"I'm not blushing!" Cara sneered at Ashton and looked away. Deep inside, she feels so embarrassed. If only the ground would open up and swallow her whole.

****

Cara and Ashton went directly to the VIP elevator to go up directly to Ashton's office. His office is generally busy, people minding their own business as usual. But occasional glances on the future Mrs. Crafter makes her feel uncomfortable. The attention she is getting is something she does not enjoy, the exact opposite Ashton expects from her.

Barry followed them to the office. He is a little too uptight for Cara's taste, but she can't really blame him because she knows Ashton's disgusting attitude.

"Boss, I have here all the offers for Cara." Barry said as he pointed at a pile of folders on Ashton's table.

"All of these, are for her?" Ashton clarified to Barry.

Barry nodded and smiled at Cara. She is clueless about everything the two men in front of her are talking about.

"Offers?" She asked.

"Yes, modeling, interviews there is even one for a movie." Barry answered excitedly.

Ashton sat on his chair, staring at the files on his desk. "Decline them all."

Barry's eyes widened when he heard his boss's decision. "Decline? All?"

Ashton nodded as he interlocked his hands in front of his chest. "Decline. All."

"But." Barry wanted to protest.

"Cara and I will be busy preparing for our wedding." Ashton insisted his stand.

It relieved Cara that Ashton did not let her go through those things as her punishment. On a second thought, if she showed a little interest, Ashton might have done the opposite just to make her suffer.

"Ahm, yeah boss. I'm sorry. I understand now. Any man would not want to share his woman, especially someone as special as Ms. Cara." Barry winked and smiled at Cara.

Cara chuckled. She is starting to like Barry and his bias towards her. "I like your secretary. You need to give him a raise." Cara said to Ashton.

"Of course, do whatever what my fiancée wants." Ashton covered his mouth as soon as those words left his mouth. He instantly glared at Cara, who covered her face with her hand to avoid Ashton's wrath.

Barry left the couple with a big grin on his face. He thought that being on Cara's side is the best decision he made so far.

"For the love of God, I need to get used to that booby trap." Ashton messed his hair in frustration.

"Hmm, maybe it will teach you to shut up when you don't have a nice thing to say? Or maybe… just maybe; you will find beauty in speaking good things to other people." Cara smiled cheekily at Ashton.

"Whatever." Ashton responded. "By the way, our wedding planner will come in…" Ashton glanced at his watch to check the time. "About ten minutes." He said.

Cara just nodded and stared at her phone for a little while. 'Should I call Theo? He must be sad right now… ' She glanced in Ashton's direction, who's busy with his laptop. 'would he mind, if I call Theo?'

Cara's inner battles are not easy; protect her real relationship with Theo or protect her fake relationship with Ashton.

"If you don't stop staring at me, I might really think that you are in love with me." Ashton said while still looking straight at his laptop.

"Geez! Do you have an extra pair of eyes or something?" Cara exclaimed as her daydreaming ended abruptly.

"knock, knock" A soft knock at the door made them stop their bickering.

"Come in." Ashton said in a loud voice.

The door opened slowly, and Cara picked up a scent. "Doughnut and black licorice." She whispered as a woman passed by her seat and went directly in front of Ashton.

Cara looked at Ashton, and his mouth literally fell open. Cara moved her eyes on the woman. She was gorgeous; she looks like a high fashion model, although a little bit too over the top and sexy for the meeting. 'Is she seducing my servant?' She cleared her throat before she spoke. She walked towards the woman.

"Ahem… Are you the wedding planner?" Cara said in her usual friendly voice.

The woman finally looked her way and smiled. "Yes, I am." The wedding planner smiled at Cara and handed her purse to her. "Why don't you leave me with Mr. Crafter first and get me a cup of coffee… no sugar. Thanks."

Cara could not believe what the wedding planner just insinuated. Cara stared at the woman with her brows raised. "Babe, I don't think I like this wedding planner you brought in." Cara said as she placed her arms across her chest.

The wedding planner looked at her with a surprise look. "Oh, Ms. Cara, relax. I was just kidding. My name is Lucy and I am your wedding planner."

"I am not in the mood for a joke, Ms. Lucy. My fiancé called you in to help out with our wedding, not so I can leave you two alone." Cara said in a serious tone.

Lucy wiped the beads of sweat on her forehead. She never thought her status will not intimidate the ordinary woman as described in the news.

"Is our air conditioning not working well? You are sweating Ms. Lucy." Cara said while looking at Lucy.

"skjfijkf" Cara could not understand what she heard. It was a sound that was flying in and out of her ears, like a fly buzzing around. She focused on the sound. She knows the spells would come to her.

"minuma minuma kang habru" Aila mumbled as the words finally became clearer to her.

"Hmm, the truth is… I saw you in the news and they said you are just a nobody. I just wanted to take my chances with Mr. Crafter. I might be able to ruin your relationship with intimidation. And of course seduce this handsome man."

Lucy blurted out without filtering her words. She covered her mouth right after she exposed herself.

Cara nodded. "I believe you know the way out Ms. Lucy."

Lucy left Ashton's office quietly with her shoulders dropped and completely defeated. Just like that, a lowly, ordinary person deflated her ego.

Ashton laughed at Cara, who still looks furiously over Lucy. "You definitely look like a jealous fiancée, love."
