You Did That

"Cara…" He mumbled. Ashton looked at the woman beside him. He is not used to having someone to comfort. Cara is the only person who had the chance to be this close to him. And it worries him that his duty to serve Cara and be free from his family's curse is working against him. Because right now, all he wants to do is to comfort the woman beside him.

"boom…"

The loud sound of thunder outside their room made the windows vibrate. Heavy raindrops followed soon.

Cara clenched her jaw while staring blankly at the television. Ashton turned it off and realized that Cara is now able to influence the weather. Cara is not even aware of what is happening outside.

Ashton gently tapped her shoulders. "Calm down. I'm sure we can figure something out." He assured her.

The thunderstorm slowly dissipated. Ashton exhaled deeply when he saw that somehow, he can calm the furious Sakalam. "See that?" He asked Cara.

"What?" she answered back.

He pointed out the window. "You did that."

Cara was clueless. Ashton walked near the window and called Cara to come closer. Ashton exposed his hand outside the window.

"This." He said in a serious tone.

"Are you being serious right now?" Cara asked again.

Ashton nodded. "It is one of your strengths, something unique to the Sakalam. Right now, your emotions can influence the weather. And someday you will be able to have it completely under your control." He further explained.

"What? How?" Cara answered, still entirely doubtful she can do it.

Ashton stared at Cara. He slowly moved towards her. It caught her by surprise. Ashton's room is dimly lit and the heavy clouds outside shrouded the moonlight coming in from the window. It is as if Ashton intentionally sets the romantic mood right now.

Cara slowly stepped back, ensuring that there is an acceptable distance between them. But Ashton kept on moving toward her until her back hit the wall.

Ashton barred his hand near her head as he lowered his face near Cara's. She can feel her heart beat so fast as Ashton pinned her on the wall.

He tucked a few strands of hair behind Cara's ears. Ashton traced the back of her hair down to her neck. He then moved in closer… and closer… Cara shut her eyes tightly as Ashton's face is only a few inches away from hers.

"boom, boom" Again the loud thunder echoed in the sky. The sharp lightning struck one after the other.

Ashton instantly moved away from Cara. "Can you hear that loud thunder? You did that. That lightning? You caused that too." He said while pointing outside the window. "What are you feeling?" He asked Cara.

"S-scared." Cara said in a low voice.

"How about earlier?" Ashton was pushing Cara to see the correlation.

Cara covered her mouth with her hand. It initially made little sense, but earlier she felt a combination of anger and fear. Although she is quite certain that she is not angry right now, she won't deny that she was scared.

She pushed Ashton away from her and went to her bedroom.

Ashton rubbed his chin and smiled. The truth is, he was scared too; and as evil as he is, he enjoyed annoying Cara as always.

Cara stood behind her door. Her mind is in so many places right now. Theo and his kind, her fellow witches, and now Ashton's actions which are making her confused about her own feelings.

"Did he do that just to test his theory? That self-absorbed prick should be punished." Cara muttered and bit her lip.

"Wake up, sleepyhead. It's time to wake up." Cara tapped Ashton's shoulder, who was still sound asleep.

"Cara, why are you too early? You are earlier than my alarm clock." Ashton groaned. He covered his face with his pillow. "Look outside, it is still dark." He angrily said under his pillow.

Cara walked towards the window and opened the curtains. "I don't know what you are talking about, Ash." Cara said and pulled the pillow covering Ashton's face.

Ashton instantly covered his eyes with his hand. The morning sun came in earlier today than the usual six am.

It suddenly dawned on him. He sat up straight and looked at Cara. "It's you?" He asked her with a confused face.

Cara just smiled and pushed Ashton towards the bathroom. She knows how much Ashton hates it when his routine is disrupted. He is so used to living alone that his daily routine is followed by the minute and ever since she came into his life. It has changed… significantly.

"Move, freshen up!" She exclaimed before she closed the bathroom door.

Cara walked around Ashton's room. She noticed that there is a family picture of him and his parents on his bedside table. She picked it up and smiled when she saw the sweet and innocent version of the prick inside the bathroom right now.

He seems to despise his parents for the way they raise him, however it is also clear that he loves them no matter what happened when he was younger.

She tapped the photo of Ashton. "No matter how adorable looking you are, here, Ashton; I will still punish you!" Cara smiled before she put back the picture frame on the bed-side table.

Ashton stepped off to his bathroom, wearing nothing but a gray silk bath robe. He used a towel to dry his hair as he walked towards his closet.

Cara was still there, watching every move of Ashton. He looked back at her with his brows raised.

"What? Are you going to watch me change?" He dared Cara.

She did not respond to Ashton's dare, instead she walked slowly towards Ashton. It is just now that Ashton noticed Cara's seductive aura. She was wearing a figure hugging top with a deep neckline; it outlined her gorgeous curves. He swallowed hard, and his heart thumping like crazy. It's not like he never had the desires before, but this time with Cara around it is a little 'harder' than he imagined it would be.

He could clearly smell Cara's fresh breath. It took so much of his control not to lift a finger.

Cara traced the collar of Ashton's robe as she slowly raised her head to meet his eyes. She naughtily wet her lips as she drew her face closer to him.

"Can you see that?" She whispered to him.

"see what?" Ashton answered, with his judgment still clouded by his raging male hormones.

Cara suddenly moved away from Ashton and laughed hysterically. "Outside." She barely said it right.

Ashton looked out the window. It was a perfectly sunny day with a cool breeze. It brings him to two conclusions. Either Cara can now control the weather or she's just not scared of intimacy with him. He shook his head, wanting to calm himself down. 'down boy' He silently wished his member would listen.

Cara was still laughing while she went back to her room. As soon as she closed her door, she blew out her cheeks as she fanned herself. "Gosh, it really affected Ashton. I hope he did not notice me looking down…." Cara paced back and forth, talking to herself. "I did not mean to look at it, it was too big not to notice." She explained further.

"pat, pat, pat," the sound of raindrops on her window sill alerted her. She looked out her window and noticed light rain outside. "What does a drizzle mean? I can't even figure out what I feel right now." Cara became utterly confused.

"Cara." Ashton called behind the wall. "You can come out now." He said in a surprisingly more casual tone.

Cara took a deep sigh and practiced her most natural smile before she went out of her room.

"Can you please stop playing with the weather?" Ashton commented when he noticed the trickle of rain outside.

"I'm sorry, I was just practicing." Cara replied. She did not expect that it would be Ashton who would give her the best alibi. "Where are we going today? You look, hmm… A little too under dressed today." Cara said when she noticed that Marcus was wearing a dark gray jeans and black long sleeves t-shirt. His outfit perfectly complements hers.

"I just received information from my assets that there are more women found dead. Surprisingly, the media did not pick it up because the police did not inform the public." Ashton's tone suddenly turned serious.

Cara felt a strange fire in her heart. It made her feel furious. She still could not comprehend why such people exist just to make other suffer. Theo, the man he adored since she was a kid, how can he possibly be like them? Can he?

"What should I do? How can I stop this madness?" Cara asked instantly. She badly wants to help protect her kind.

Ashton looked in her direction. "You need to start your training, Cara."
