"Vyl?!" I shouted it out loud so they all looked at me again. Fuck, I look crazy.
"Ven, you're acting weird," Rain said. I noticed that Colleen was looking at me worriedly so I averted my eyes and set my gaze below. I was stunned by the absence.
Fuck. Not again. Not these stares again.
"S-Sorry. Excuse me for a moment," I hurriedly said. I entered a cubicle and there I took a deep breath.
"Vyl?" I uttered in my head.
"Finally, you answered."
I winced at myself when I heard him answer in my mind.
"What the fuck is going on?! You're scaring me!"
I replied mentally. It seems like we can mentally hear each other. What's going on again?
"Calm down. I'll explain when you get home. Where are you anyway? Look at the time."
I immediately looked at the clock. It's nine o'clock. I have not noticed. I also lost my will to eat so I decided to just go home. I lost my appetite because of him.
"I ate outside. I'm coming home now."
I answered and then I came out. He stopped talking. When I arrived at our table, I immediately reached for my bag and said goodbye even though more food was served on the table.
"Guys, I got to go. I have to take care of something," I just said.
"Are you sure you're okay, Ven?" Colleen asked, and I gave her a nod and plastered a smile on my face.
"I'll give you a ride," Rain offered then he hurriedly stood up from his seat. I immediately rejected his kind offer. I can also see Colleen staring and I don't want my friend to be hurt.
"No, it's okay. I can manage."
"Ven, I think it would be better if you go with him considering that you’re a girl, it would be troublesome to go alone and the fact that it’s late makes it more dangerous," Tyrone added. I appreciate their concern but I really don't want to. It's not like it's my first time going home late.
"I'll just call a taxi. Really, I'm okay," I assured them.
"Make sure you get home safely, Colleen," I said then I rushed outside the restaurant. I heard them calling out my name but I never looked back. Thank goodness that I was able to find a taxi nearby.
"Where are you?"
I jumped on my seat when I heard his voice again inside my mind. Dammit, that shocked me!
"Will you stop that?!", I replied through my mind.
My palms curled into fists when I heard his amused laugh. The audacity of this man. Do I sound like I'm happy?
"You'll get used to it. So, where are you?"
What? I'll get used to it? He’s planning to do it often?!
"I’m in a taxi. I beg for your patience,” I said with sarcasm. This guy’s too bossy.
"This is your first time coming home this late."
"You're acting like my dad."
I answered sarcastically. I’m getting pissed at his complaints. My parents are not even that strict. Why is he being like that?
"You haven't even explained why the hell can we talk in my mind."
"I said I'll explain when you get home."
I rolled my eyes. "You son of a bitch." I muttered.
"I heard that."
I scoffed. I didn't answer him because I was really pissed with his behavior. What's up with him? It’s not like something bad would happen if I come home late. And he can cook so I don't have to worry if he had eaten or not.
Another annoying thing is that I looked crazy in front of people before. I'm sure they know about the rumors that I'm crazy and shit, thanks to my panic attacks in school. And the fact that I had been going to a psychiatrist in the past. I don’t even know how they s. Someone must have saw me.
I leaned my head against the taxi window. Thinking about it makes me more depressed.
Just a few minutes and I arrived at Ton Hall. I was in the elevator when Vyl suddenly spoke again.
"You're almost here."
I furrowed in curiosity and astonishment. That was not a question. He knows?
"How did you know?"
"I can feel you."
I could not answer. It was just like before. I could feel the sudden acceleration of my heartbeat as I stared at the emptiness. “What's happening to me?” That came more like a statement instead of a question. I was held on the side of my chest to calm down. The elevator opened so I walked to my unit.
When I opened the door, Vyl's smiling face appeared on me. I was frustrated because of that. I slammed the door shut and dropped my bag on the floor. I noticed Vyl's eyebrows met because of my behavior. "What's with you?" He curiously asked. I snapped my head at his direction, irritation is written on my face.
"Really? That's your question?" I was annoyed to answer his trivial question.
His forehead was already furrowed but I rolled my eye at him and went into my room to get dressed. I took a shower first of course.
Half an hour before I finished and left. I saw him watching T.V while sitting on the sofa. He looked away when I came out. I'm still drying my wet hair with a towel. I was too lazy to use a blower because I wanted to hear his explanation. I’m wearing my pajama. T-shirt and cotton shorts as usual.
As I walked over to the sofa, he just stared at me intently. I sat down next to him and I stared at him blankly.
"Start spilling the tea," I uttered in a serious tone. I was still wiping my wet hair. I faced him and so does he. Silently he just stared at me. I raised my eyebrow as if to say that should his exploration. He sighed before speaking.
"Turn around," he said sparingly. The earlier raised eyebrow rose even more.
"Huh?"
Seeing that I did not obey, he grabbed both my shoulders and turned me around to turn my back on him. I was surprised when he suddenly took the towel that rested on my head.
"What are you-" I couldn’t continue what I was about to say because of what he did.
He is now gently drying my hair.
I stopped in shock. My lips parted and I felt my heart beat faster again. I was held my chest to calm down. I also swallowed the lump that was forming in my throat a few times. I don't like this feeling.
"W-What are you doing?" I couldn’t help but stutter. I closed my eyes tightly because of that. I feel like an idiot.
"Drying your hair obviously," he said that with a matter-of-fact tone. I rolled my eyes.
"I know that! But why?"
I felt that he stopped wiping my hair. He soon returned to what he was doing. I'm just waiting for his answer.
"Honestly, I don't know either. Just suddenly got the urge." He replied with a straight tone a. "Where have you been?"
" I said I ate outside with my friends."
"You have friends?"
My eyebrows immediately met because of what he said. He looked shocked. I suddenly got angry. Is it that shocking that I have friends?
"I mean, besides me and Drake?" He added.
I looked at him frowning. "What's with that reaction? It’s annoying."
I grabbed my towel that he was holding and threw it on the side of the sofa. I noticed a playful smile on his lips which made me even more annoyed. He's mocking me.
"You haven't mentioned anything about your friends. I thought you're the type who wants to be alone all the time." He shrugged as if what he said didn't offend me at all. His annoying smile still lingered. I want to give him a punch or two. He hit a nerve. And it made me more irritated than before.
"Sorry to burst your bubble. I do have some but I think they won't last because of you again." I snapped at him and threw the towel right at his face. He immediately removed it and his eyes widened as he looked at me. He was about to say something but I angrily turned my back and went inside my room.
Even though my hair was still a little wet, I laid down on my bed. I'm really pissed. My palms are now balled into fists. I tried to calm myself down. I took my phone out at saw an unread message and it's from Colleen. Asking me if I'm fine. I’m not really in the mood to reply so I just left it on read.
I heard the door of my room open. I have my back turned here now and I don't have to look back because there is no one else here but me and Vyl. I felt the mattress sink to my side. He's now sitting on it. I just ignored it because I had no intention of talking to him yet. I'm still pissed off.
"Hey..." He called while poking me. I still ignored him.
"Oh, come on. I'm sorry, okay? I don't know what I did to piss you but still, I'm sorry."
He doesn't know?! This idiot!
I sighed and got up from lying down. I sat across from him. I am now again staring at his beautiful eyes.
"Explain first the 'talking in my mind' thing," I said in a depressed tone.
He took a deep breath first before talking. I prepared myself but I wouldn’t be surprised to know it was done with magic or anything related to it.
"We call it the mind link. I told you countless times that we have an unexplained connection and I can feel something tingling in my mind for days. It's been bugging me so I gave it a try a while ago, and surprisingly it worked."
I stared at him dumbfounded. Mind link this time, huh? Every-time I'm with this guy, I experience a lot of magical stuff. Perks of having someone from another world.
"I used this too the first time I appeared in front of you. I didn't know that it would still work now that I'm here in earth."
Now that me mentioned it I remembered the first time I started seeing things. I think it’s around my brother’s birthday, I suddenly got transported to somewhere in outer space. It was filled with a lot of shining stars. So that's what it was.
"Why are you not sure? This doesn't happen to just anyone?"
"For some reason, no. Few people have this ability. And base from what I've learned, one can only communicate through mind with just one person."
"Huh?" I can't quite catch up. My human brain is still not used to this supernatural stuff.
"Example, this mind link will only work for you and me. I can't do this with anyone else. Same goes for you."
My mouth automatically formed an 'o'. Now, I get it. Come to think of it, this is actually amazing. I can talk to him even when I'm far away. But that would also mean he can disturb me when I'm at school. This will become a problem.
"Do you get it now?" I nodded again. "Now, it's your turn. Why are you so irritated?"
I immediately rolled my eyes at him. He's so dense!
"See? There it is again. You're rolling your eyes at me since you got here."
I looked at him with boredom. I don’t want to say anything.
"It's nothing. I’m going to sleep." I just said. When my head was about to fall on my pillow, he stopped me.
I didn't have the time to react when he pulled me close to him and our forehead touched. Both of his hands are now holding my face, keeping my head in place.
