Chapter 26: Being Targeted

Saturday evening, we're currently inside Drake's car. We're on our way now to what he called a 24 hours amusement park? He knocked last night and all of a sudden, he invited us to go to a 24 hours amusement park. I didn't even know there was such a thing.

And by the way, we unexpectedly became close with this guy. He and Vyl to be exact. They got along with each other really well. Didn't saw that coming at all. He would sometimes barge in my unit to hang out and as for me, I couldn’t do anything so I just let them do whatever the hell they’re doing. I rolled my eyes at the thought.

Drake has always been like that. Suddenly just dragging us to where ever he wants. Last time, he invited us to have dinner in some fancy restaurant. I can't even remember how I managed to survive that with Vyl's behavior! He was so ignorant! He kept on standing on his chair like a kid just to get a better view of the place. People were looking at us! It was so embarrassing.

Ever since that day, Drake and I both agreed not to take him somewhere that would attract too much attention. He can't keep his behavior in check.

And guess what, Drake's the son of the owner of Ton Hall Condominiums! Why didn't I realize that sooner? Halton. Ton Hall. That was so unexpected. Where did his father even get that?

When Drake invited us last night, even though Vyl didn't know what it was, he said yes… I have to explain it to him at literal and his eyes literally shone as he understood what an amusement park was. I can never stop them, so I have done nothing but go along with it.

Both me and Vyl are at the backseat of the car, leaving Drake alone in the front seat. They chattered while I, as usual just looked out the window.

We arrived at the so-called amusement park and even at seven o'clock in the evening, this place is still crowded. Drake informed us that this amusement park is better at night because of the lights so, the number of people here is understandable. Still, it's making me uncomfortable.

"Come on, guys! Let's go in," Drake shouted after buying tickets. Vyl grabbed my arm and excitedly went inside.

And by the way, Drake has no idea that Vyl is not human. I just told him that Vyl's the type of person who doesn't go out much. A spoiled brat, a shut in, rich. And as for why we're living together, I told him that Vyl ran away from home and so he's with me. Drake surprisingly believed that. Maybe because they're both idiots.

You heard that right, Drake is an idiot too.

"Woah..." Vyl exclaimed when he saw the gigantic rides and the beautiful designs of the lights around. Indeed, the place is stunning.

The cold evening air is kissing my skin, making me shiver a little. I lifted my arms to hug myself, rubbing my hands on my arms. Vyl looked at me.

"Why did you have to wear something short?" His brows were furrowed as he stared at me with a hint of irritation on his face.

I just raised an eyebrow at him. I didn't mind what he said and just appreciated the view around us. I'm wearing only denim shorts and a white polo with black stripes. I paired it with white shoes. My brown long hair is tied in a slight messy bun. My descent is not that short. It's average.

Vyl, on the other hand, wore ripped black jeans and a simple white shirt with an iconic design. I heard him grunted when he realized that I was ignoring his remarks. Then, he put his hand around my shoulders. He does that sometimes and I just let him. I bet this time, he's trying to keep me warm.

"It's okay, Vyl." I'm trying to tell him that he doesn't need to be that close. I am not that cold anyway. But he didn’t seem to understand it because he didn't take his hug away from me. Did he not understand or did he just ignore what I said? I snorted.

"Hey guys, Let’s ride there!" Drake shouted enthusiastically while pointing at the carousel.

Drake's in a beige khaki shorts and a white polo shirt. It is not obvious that he likes polo shirts.

"Are those Pegasus without wings? Cool." We were stunned by what Vyl said. Pegasus? Are those even real? I did my best not to laugh.

"That's a good joke, man," Drake said while laughing. Little did he know that Vyl's not joking at all. He just doesn’t know what it’s called. "Let's first ride the carrousel!"

Drake immediately ran there without looking back. Vyl immediately followed and pulled me onto the carousel. Almost all of us were children riding there.

They are so embarrassing. They even beat the kids to the curb. They were screaming so loud! The ride's not even scary but they're acting like wild kids, Drake almost fell off the freaking horse, Vyl was laughing his ass off. I slapped my forehead. Why am I here again? A lot of people are looking at them because of the noise they make.

Shortly after the ride I immediately pulled them away from there. I couldn’t bare the embarrassment.

Next, they pulled me into bumpy cars. And again, they are both wild. Every time they hit my car, I feel like I'm going to be thrown away. My head ached to rebuke them. It is difficult to deal with simple-minded children.

I may be stressed because of their childish behavior, but I also can't help but laugh. I am not that cold hearted to not feel the fun in the air. They’re fun to be with, actually. But I also have to be careful and watch over them.

We had a lot more rides to ride and I became a mom on guard with these two. They’re so stubborn, so stupid, and most of all they’re too fast, to the point that I can’t catch up.

Resting is not in their vocabulary because every-time they finish one ride they’re already running for the next. I think my soul was left behind the last time we rode, my body was immediately running to the other side. This would probably be the cause of my death.

Unable to hold back, I grabbed their ears and dragged them to a nearby bench.

"What the fuck, Ven?! Let go!"

"Hey! Ouch! Stop that it hurts!"

They shouted but I didn’t let go and kept dragging them away. I forced them to sit on the bench. I also sat in the space between the two of them and punched both of them at the same time to stop their tantrums.

"You’re too loud!” I shouted. They were about to say something again but I glared at them and it was enough to keep their mouth shut.

"Can't we rest for a bit?! Taking a break is unacceptable for both of you? We've been wandering around here for more than two hours! "If only my ears and nose could smoke, maybe it's already smoking with the annoyance I'm feeling. Did I mention I hate being pushed around?

" Calm your heart. Don’t lose your temper" I stared menacingly at Drake.

"Shut. Up," I said emphatically. He raised both his hands as if he’s surrendering as his mouth opened and formed a circle.

"Heavenly, you need to chill," Vyl remarked.

"I said, stop calling me Heavenly! And stop mocking me!"

I was already standing in front of them and I know I look so angry right now. They looked at me stupidly, making me more irritated.

“How about we do this instead," Drake suddenly stood up and told me to sit down first. I stared at him before returning to my seat. "Me and Vyl will buy food and drinks while you stay here and rest” Drake said.

He flashed me a very big smile. My face remained frowning as one eyebrow was raised. He sighed and invited Vyl to buy food and drink.

I looked watched them as they took off to buy some food. I let out an exaggerated sigh before massaging the bridge of my nose. I shouldn't have snapped earlier. I'm making the atmosphere bad. I should calm down.

I just stared at the distance while waiting for the two. I blinked twice when I saw a child whom I think is lost. It's a baby girl about five or six years old. It looked around and was obviously looking for someone.

He walked slowly without noticing a small stone blocking the way. I immediately got up and ran to where she was because I know she would stumble because of it. And I wasn't wrong because she did stumble. But before her head hit the ground, I was fast enough to catch her from falling.

I let out a relieved sigh before lifting her up. She looked frightened so I got worried and caressed her cheeks.

"Hey, baby girl. You need to be careful." I said smiling. I am now sitting in front of her so I can level her face.

Instead of answering me, a tear fell from her eye. It sniffled as if holding back the other tears that were about to drip.

"Hey, hey, shh... It's okay. Are you lost?" I said in a soft voice as I wiped down the tears that dripped down her cheek. She nodded in response.

She's really cute. She's wearing a white dress and sandals paired with a cute big yellow ribbon on top of her head.

"What's your name?" I asked and then I held her two hands to calm her down.

"Angel," she answered sparingly. I smiled there. Her name suits her perfectly. She's like an angel with her white dress on.

"Let me help you find your parents."

Her sad eyes lit up because of what I said. She nodded quickly and I smiled even more because of her reaction.

I tucked a loose hair behind her ear and patted her head. I was about to invite her to leave when I looked behind her and noticed something flying in our direction. My forehead frowned. When I realized what it was, I quickly hugged the child and fell down the cold cement. Good thing I have fast reflexes.

I felt a sting on my left cheek and I winced in pain because of it. I got up from the crutch and helped Angel stand up. I touched my cheek and felt something like a viscous liquid touch me. I looked at my hand and my suspicion were correct. Blood. I have a cut on my cheek.

I looked at the thing that flew from afar. It's now stuck on one of the trees behind us. My eyes widened in shock when I realized what it was. It's a knife. A small knife.

I immediately stood up as my heart was beating fast with nervousness. Angel hugged my legs because that's all she could reach. She must've noticed my frightened state. I bowed slightly and hugged her back as well. I am nervously looking around us.

Who on earth would throw a knife at us? It was late at night and it was too dark to see properly. It's a miracle that I saw the knife flying towards us.

"Ven!"
