Chapter 39: Leiyan

"Drake?" I called his name confusedly. What's he doing here?

"I love the drama." His tone of voice was strange and an annoying smile played on his lips. "I can't believe I just witnessed this kind of scene. Moreover, it's from the Pluvilia's prince."

What? What's he talking about? How did he know about Vyl? And why the hell is he talking like a complete creep?

"Did you tell him about you?"

I asked Vyl in our mind link.

"No."

His response was cold with a hint of annoyance.

Drake slowly walked towards us. His hands are firmly clasped together in front of his chest. Vyl stepped forward blocking me protectively from Drake. I'm just currently peeking from behind him. I saw how he glared at Drake.

"Prince Vylant, you're known as the violent, soon to be ruler of Pluvilia," Drake continued is sarcastic remarks. "What happened? Have you become soft and weak because of a woman?"

"Who are you?" Vyl's asked coldly. I'm starting to feel scared. Drake is our close friend.

"Can't you recognize me?" Concurrent with that question was the sudden change of the color of his eyes. From the normal dark brown color, it turned to a grayish violet. And it's even glowing. He flashed a grin and continued what he was saying. "Your rival?"

I can sense realization from Vyl's expression.

"Leiyan."

I never thought Vyl's voice can be that scary. I even felt the hairs on my nape stood up because of the tone of his voice. But what did he say? Leiyan? What’s that? Is it a name?

"Bravo! Good job, Vylant." He clapped again mockingly.

He fucking looks like a monkey.

"What did you do to Drake?"

"Oh, you mean the owner of this body?" Because of what he said, I seem to have understand it now. This is not Drake. I think Drake is being possessed by someone called Leiyan. Someone or something?

"You see, the Lunarians found out that you're not in Pluvilia anymore. So, we traced you and found that you're here, on Earth."

He walked around while laughing to himself. I know Drake has a few lose screws in the head but he looks even more abnormal because of what Leiyan is doing with his body.

"We tried to look for the spell that you used to teleport here but we found nothing. Seriously, what kind of black magic did you use?"

"If anything happens, run away, okay?"

I got confused and at the same time, scared when Vyl said that through mind link. He sounds nervous. I didn't answer him because I did not like his idea.

Drake just kept talking. I meant, Leiyan.

"So, we looked for an alternative and luckily, we found one. A type of black magic that can transfer your own soul to a body close to your target. And tadah! It worked! I'm now here!"

This guy is nuts! He's the only one happy here. I want to beat the hell out of him. He's ruining Drake's image in my mind!

"Oh, and when I entered this body, I can read his memories. He's quite close to you too. The world gave me the perfect body and a perfect chance to plot against you."

"You were the one targeting Ven, right?"

My eyes widened at what Vyl said. What? So, it's him? The day we went to the amusement park, it wasn’t Drake anymore? This is getting more and more irritating! Which part of our memories together are real?

"Yup, it's me. I observed that you're getting attached to her so, I want her gone. It's irritating to see you being so clingy to a woman."

"But you're still as useless as ever. You failed so many times already," Vyl said back in a mocking tone. Leiyan's gaze darkened as he looked at Vyl with gritted teeth.

"I'll kill you, Vylant."

"Try me."

And Leiyan immediately rushed in with Drake's body.

"Ven, when I say run, you run."

He said again through mind link.

The opponent once again released a ball of light that was much larger than yesterday when he attacked us. It is now flying wildy in our direction. I was still hiding behind him.

Vyl raised his palm and a blue energy came out of it. That energy stopped the ball of light and to my surprise, the light gradually became small until it was completely gone.

The blue energy consumed the ball of light.

"Leiyan, you forgot that you can never defeat me."

Leiyan flashed an annoying smirk. "You also forgot that there's a moon here on earth," at the same time, he pointed to the full moon. "And it's a full moon too. It'll make you weaker ten times."

I heard Vyl cussed. Is it that bad? But he also told me that he gets stronger every time I get close to him, right?

Without saying a word, Leiyan rushed again. Vyl pushed me away so I ended up sitting on the grass. He said sorry in my mind and took the enemy head on.

They were punching at every direction that my eyes are having a hard time to follow their movements. These two are both good because they hardly hit each other. What's more, with every blow and kick, there is a strong wind gushing out from it.

I closed my eyes and blow my hair out due to the loss of air due to the hot battle between the two of them.

Vyl grabbed the opponent's right hand and slammed him hard on the ground. That part of the ground broke and it created a slight earthquake. I immediately saw Leiyan vomited blood which made me wince.

"Vyl, no!" My loud shout stopped Vyl from hitting his burning fist on Drake's body. "That's still Drake's body. You can't hurt it!"

"Fuck!" He cursed loudly and took a few steps away from Drake's body.

Because of that, Leiyan had a chance to recover. He quickly got up from lying down and suddenly disappeared. We looked around and Vyl's eyes widened at the enemy's unexpected speed. We can't see him!

I was about to shout 'watch out!' to Vyl but I was late and Leiyan was so fast that Vyl was hit in the back by an inexplicable force. He came flying and fell hard into the trees.

"Vyl!" I shouted hysterically when he was defenselessly sent flying. I immediately stood up on the grass and was about to run towards him when he shouted at me through our mind link.

"Don't come near me! Stay there!"

Even though it’s against my will, I remained standing here while watching him struggle.

"Run, Ven! I can't hold him much longer in this state. I'm too weak. Run!"

"How could you say that?! I won't leave you, idiot!"

I'm already crying. Leiyan held the part of Vyl's clothes to his chest and lifted him effortlessly. Leiyan hit him with a powerful blow to the stomach.

I saw how Vyl vomit blood.

If this keeps up, Vyl will die!

Vyl was like a piece of paper when Leiyan threw him again. His fall created a huge crack on the ground.

I can’t watch this anymore.

I ran to him and immediately hugged his body soaked in his own blood.

"Vyl, wake up!" I sobbed as I gently caressed both his cheeks. He slowly opened his eyes which made me cry even more.

"I-I told you to run," he said weakly.

I need to do something. I remember when we were in the park, our eyes and skin glowed. Then his strength returned.

I focused my attention on Vyl's eyes, hoping something would miraculously work. I heard the approaching footsteps of Leiyan. I stared hard into Vyl's eyes and I wasn't disappointed because it did glow for a moment. Our eyes glowed together again. His hair and skin started to glow too like what happened last time. And I noticed that his pale face was turning liven a little. His wounds on his face and body were also slowly healing.

I caressed both of his cheeks as tears continued to stream down my face. It worked.

"Close your eyes, Ven," he said when he finally recovered and I did right away. He pulled me closer to him and hugged me tightly it.

I felt a strong surge of energy burst out from his body that made the air around us explode. I opened my eyes and saw trees and plants swarming around. They are all destroyed.

I stared at the lying body that was also lying on the ground, currently bleeding.

Drake...

I helped Vyl to his feet and led him to Drake's unconscious body.

"I'll take him with us to Pluvilia too."

I just nodded at him because it's the only choice we have for now. We can't just leave him here, especially with all this mess. People are also not flocking over here even with this commotion. Vyl must have done something already. He put his left hand on Drake's forehead then he encircled his right arm around my waist.

"I hope you're ready for this," he said and I felt his lips kissing my forehead.

Then my sight was consumed by darkness.
