Mr and Mrs

She hasn't been able to sleep at all since yesterday, she tried taking a cold shower to calm my racing heart so she could sleep but it didn't work. She kept thinking about Adam and how they are going to get married tomorrow and become husband and wife. Even if it is just on paper she can't stop her excitement, she already cleared her brother's loan and paid all the money her family ever owed anyone.

She gave the rest of the money to her parents to expand their business and hire people to work for them so that they can finally rest. Her mind has been running a marathon the whole night just like it did back in their school days whenever she would get to see him around the school. She was always the silent nerd in the corner that not even the bullies payed attention to so how could the hottest boy in school ever do. She was invisible and as much as she liked it because of how she never got in trouble, she hated it since Adam never spaced her a glance.

She has outgrown her nerdy look from the past and is beautiful and that was one factor she was proud of. Had she still been like her past self then he wouldn't have hesisitated to reject her the minute that he had laid eyes on her. She thanked the heavens a hundred times for everything that was happening to her. She got up from the bed and went over to her study table and opened her laptop and researched her soon to be husband.

She found out that he was last in a relationship a year ago and has been single since then. He is the youngest most achieved business man and really gives his competitors a run for their money. He owns the biggest entertainment industry in the country and he is unrivalled in that department. He is the biggest name in entertainment industry and just a word from him and any actor or actress can become a legend. He is very respected even by people years older than him. He inherited the company from his grandfather and took it to great heights. Ross entertainment industry has produced many elites in the country and is feared by other companies.

Adam is a cold and aloof man who only concerns himself with things that make profit. He is a man who hates losses and having people lie to him, it is those two things that he can't stand. He believes that no legacy is as rich as honesty said so by Shakespeare himself. He always handles his affairs with almost honesty and expect others to treat the same with him. His mother and father have long retired and are now enjoying their lives as non-citizens of the country. They constantly pester him to get a girlfriend and to get married but she always manages to evade the problem.

She felt sorry for him that he had to go through a lot of pressure from his family but was happy that because of that pressure she is going to be their daughter in-law. She prayed in her heart that they will accept her and not reject her for their son. She will not give them any reasons to complain about her behavior and will be the best daughter for them. Her dream was coming true at last and it made her heart do flips inside her chest.

The night was also taunting her as the time on the clock wasn't even moving, she was having the longest night of her life. She took out her favorite novel to read to pass the time but it wasn't doing her any justice. She read so many chapters and still the night was still far from over. She switched on the television and started watching anything and everything but got bored eventually and switched it off. She played music and danced to the tune and when she was done she took a shower and checked the time but it was still 3am in the morning and the sun hasn't risen yet.

Yesterday she wanted nothing more than for morning to never arrive and the minute she closed her eyes the birds who took it upon themselves to become her alarm clock started chipping and woke her up. Today when she needs them to be here and tell her that morning has arrived they seem to have taken a vacation just like the sun which has refused to rise. She played games on her phone while constantly checking the clock but time was flowing very slowly.

She did everything imaginable to pass the time but for some reason she couldn't achieve her goal and pass time. She became so tired of waiting for time and dozed off, she was enjoying her sleep by dreaming about her dream wedding with Adam. They had taken their vows at the church and the priest had just declared that he may kiss the bride and she had braced herself for the kiss. Adam was leaning in to kiss her but she was yanked awake by someone, she opened her eyes and prepared to give whoever interrupted her wedding a good lecture on importance of a kiss in the ceremony.

She opened her eyes and her mother was there standing beside the bed with breakfast in her hands. "Get up sleepy head, how much longer do you plan to sleep the whole day. You have to go to work right so how can you still be sleeping. If you are late on your first day then you might get fired and if that is the case then how will you repay the money that you have already spent." she scolded so sweetly that she forgot about the lecture that she had prepared. "Wait mom, what time is it?" she asked in panic.

"It is almost mid day my beloved daughter. Tell me at what ti..." she stopped when Chloe rushed out of the room at a speed of lightning and into her bathroom. She cursed the sun and the birds as took a shower, she couldn't believe that today of all days she overslept. She waited for the sun to rise for some long but she didn't even get to see it. She was even angrier than she was earlier when she was woken up from her beautiful dream of her wedding. She took a shower so fast and got dressed, she couldn't decide on what to wear. She took so many clothes out of her wardrobe and tried them all but couldn't find the right outfit.

She finally settled for a blue knee length dress that that was long sleeved and held her hair up. She wore black wedges to accompany her look and checked herself in the mirror three times before she left the bathroom. Her mother was no longer in the room when she came back and the food was kept by her night stand. She ate the food in a hurry and left the house and took a cab, she gave the cab the address and waited for them to arrive. She waited for a while before the taxi pulled up but it wasn't at the hotel but they were at the civil affairs office.

The door opened and a the man in black from the pool yesterday was there, he held the door for her and asked her to get out. Chloe was very confused as to how they had pulled it off, the taxi driver couldn't have possibly been planned to wait for her. She felt so happy to know that he was restless to marry her that when she didn't show up he sent a taxi for her. It might have been delusional of her to think like that but who has never mixed reality with a little bit of spices.

It was those spices that made life worth living and makes life interesting. She walked to office and found Adam standing at the office door. They got to be alone to talk as per Adam's request. "Did you read the contract?" he asked and she nodded.

"Did you already sign it or are there any changes would you like made ?"

"I have signed it and I find nothing out of order in my case." she answered.

They signed there marriage certificate with Adam's secretaries as their witness and were officially pronounced husband and wife. They took their certificate and left the civil affairs office and drove away. In the car they sat silently, Chloe desperately wanted to talk to Adam but was afraid of crossing her limits. She has just gotten married and it won't be good if she appears as pushy. She should just stay put and see what next step will be.

She sat there and watched him work on his phone, she had to admit that she has never seen anyone type anything as fast as Adam was doing. He was working so fast that she was getting dizzy just watching him, she looked outside the window and watched as such beautiful big mansions were passing her by. It looked like magic getting to see it like that and it warmed her heart. Being in such a nice car and watching the world move from inside it felt like a different life all together.

She had taken a big step in life one that she wasn't sure if she was ready for it. She had her reasons for agreeing to the marriage but she has a married a rich man who lives in a different world from the one she was used to. Rich people are way more complicated than normal people and they have a lot of customs that is way different. The reality of what she had done was catching up with her and she was feeling it in her stomach. She was feeling dreadful and her hands started trembling so much, she was fearful of the unknown world that she has just stepped into.

'Will I be able to fit in? What if I mess up and embarrass him will he forgive me? What if he wakes up tomorrow and decides to terminate the contract then? Was she even ready for a married life.' these were the questions that troubled her mind and it made her more frightened. As it is marriage is not a joke and it requires a lot of work to make it successful.

She felt a hand on her own and looked down. "Are you okay?" Adam asked as he gently squeezed her hand to comfort her. As he was working he started noticing the change in her behavior and the way she was trembling. He understood very well the reason for her worries and knew that it will take her time to adjust to her new life. He held her hand and asked if she was fine and she nodded despite the clear evidence that she wasn't fine. It was apparent that she was trying to remain composed but was failing desperately.

Adam continued to work with his other hand never once leaving Chloe's hand. She needed him to hold her hand so that they stop shaking, that and it felt really nice to have him hold her like that. She was still a little afraid but she gathered strength and pushed that fear deep down where she couldn't find it and calmed down. She was now misses Ross and and such she could not act so childish, she needs to be brave.

'She had scored the second highest points in highschool not because she was scared but due to her bravery,' she tried to encourage herself in her mind and it worked. She started getting her confidence back. She was very smart in college and won second place in her final year because the genius of her husband was the one who took first place. Sometimes she used to think of how unfair it was that someone people were born with everything; brains and money.
