Conjurers

It was the second day of Orion and Venezia on the plane. The route taken was jumbled to throw off any assumption of the flight destination, although it could be traced afterward but then he would be in a safe place at least.

Orion woke up from his long nap and turned to find Venezia sitting across her with earphones in her ears and a pack of popcorn in his hands.

She suddenly looked back and offered some to Orion who refused.

"It's k-drama. This is super popular right now but I am not finding it as good as described by my friends."

Orion shook his head to her offer, lifted himself, and walked towards the end of the plane to freshen himself up. He brushed his teeth and washed his face and to his surprise, there was a shower in there.

He was surprised by the luxury of a private jet. He quickly stripped himself naked to take a long relaxing shower.

In the shower when he was about to turn over cold water, he looked at his wound. To his amazement, the wound was no longer hurting much. It was still painful but at least not to that much extent.

He because of injury washed himself carefully by avoiding his wound from getting wet. After refreshing, he walked out in his previous clothes.

Venezia was sitting opposite his seat all this time. He sat in his chair and extended his hand for the popcorn to start a conversation,

"Thanks for helping me out. I think I have come to terms with the information you have given me. "

She nodded and placed her hand on his shoulder,

"You are fine. This is just a phase, it will pass soon. You are still too young to think about the whole of the world. Relax, and focus on enjoying your life and keeping your head on your body."

Orion appreciated her for trying to comfort her. But her second part of the statement kind of threw him off.

He focused, then asked a question that was burning in his mind from start,

"I want to ask something, actually what is a Conjurer?"

Venezia, who was about to encourage him to ask anything, was suddenly caught off-guard.

She looked at him weirdly like saying' you are in such a deep pit and even now you don't know what a Conjurer is?'

He avoided her stare and replied without blushing with a straight face,

"Ed never told me? He only introduced me to the monster world and some random facts?"

"That Vampire...."

She remembered that weird vampire, who was with Orion. He was a different specimen from his race.

He was not a neat and clean freak, even a lot more casual than he should be. He was diving in the common world? Certainly, it was the first time she had heard about such a Vampire.

She could imagine with his character that he would totally neglect giving full knowledge to Orion despite knowing him being wanted in the hidden world.

She blinked and started from the beginning,

"We humans are definitely not the ones that became self-aware immediately. It is food for thought that how can our civilization which was living in caves improved suddenly to the period of the stone age and community building.

It was during the times of earliest rock paintings we get clues about so-called Gods or Similar Magical Creatures which roamed the earth and sometimes showed the way to the early humans.

Then fast forward to historical civilizations like ancient Indus or similar ones which began to praise and make beliefs or so-called religion systems for these ancient Pantheons.

As the number of humans around the world increased, it led to new civilizations, new gods, new pantheons. It was the time these Gods who were not native of this earth, even this dimension, discovered that the belief of humans gave them more powers, more control over their domains. In short, the belief was like a drug to these gods.

Then, began a golden period of collaboration between humans and Gods. Gods watched over their civilization and in turn, humans did everything to please them. Worshipping, sacrifices, temples, rituals, etc. All came to effect during those times."

She took a breath to observe whether he was listening or not. Orion was listening intently to her, making her a little satisfied.

"Now as there are good gods, there are bound to be bad ones. Slowly it led to battles between humans to prove which god is superior which was in turn instigated and fueled by gods themselves.

It was similar to how soldiers fight with each other in nation wars while those leaders who have declared the same, enjoy the benefits of war in the coziness of their homes.

Fighting, killing, destruction of civilization, in turn, led to the falling and rising of Gods. Some were removed from the face of history, while some were left so weak that they had no influence left whatsoever. Some who emerged victorious rose to become prominent gods like Greek ones, while some simply didn't take part in world struggle like Hindu Pantheon.

It all changed around three or four thousand years ago when an all dimension pact was signed by them all gods. Due to their wars and destruction, they realized humanity was digressing instead of rising so they made this pact which meant non-intervention in the affairs of modern humans Gods will not affect humanity in any way and let humans develop on their own. "

Orion squinted his eyes,

"This means now No God can descend on earth?"

Venezia hummed not exactly nodding,

"Well, it states that in theory that all inter-dimensional pathways will be sealed to let humans grow by themselves. But there are always some loopholes which Demons, devils, or Gods use here and there.

It is very rare but not entirely absent. They sometimes use vessels to descend here, sometimes send their avatar, or sometimes some of them come themselves. But every time they have to stay low, not cause disturbance or they will be charged for breaking the pact and maybe which can lead to war between pantheons. "

Orion lifted his eyebrow,

"So?"

Venezia chided him for being impatient,

"I'm there, shhh.

So, here comes the realistic or practical part. Everyone has their own motives. Gods are selfish and self-centered too. But this time due to the sealing of dimensions they had given upon belief power from humans, so they had in turn settled on some different unknown goals that is to maintain their presence.

Now if they can't do it openly like in the past they will maintain their existence in shadows, in the hidden world.

Here come us Conjurers, in a lame language we are demigods or magicians who sign a lifelong contract with Gods in turn of giving us the power.

The ability or power usually given is within the domain of that said God. So, it is advised not to disclose your domain but you can guess anyways.

Like I don't believe in this but many people hide their powers for an emergency. "

"So….this means…...you have met Gods? And even signed Contract with them"

Orion had his mind blown over this causal explanation of Venezia.

She chuckled,

"They are not so tough to meet, some of them are selfish beings while some of them only care for the betterment of humanity like Jesus, etc."

"So which god is….?"

"I have signed a contract with Artemis. She is a badass hunter Greek goddess. And she is a super badass. We met for drinks sometime when she comes here for a visit. "

"Do you know…."

Suddenly announcement rang into the cabin disturbing their conversation,

'We are going to land in Tokyo Narita International Stadium. Fasten your seatbelts.'
