Assis

"Around the twelfth century, in the backwaters of Europe, there was a man who had the gift of expert smithing. His name was Assis. It was said that swords and blades made by him were so famous for their quality that people from far away east came to his village to persuade him to forge their weapons.

Assis was not a humble man, naturally when you have such blessing pride usually rears its head inside you. It was during these times he forged a great broadsword, rivaling the strength and quality of many divine weapons. He to exhibit his superiority gifted that Broadsword to the local hegemon of the region, who was very much pleased by his actions. Thus, granted him legendary Swordsmith status.

Gods of the Greek Pantheon that were prevailing over that region also seemed to hear about his works. Ares, the God of war, and Hephaestus, the God of fire and smithing had a friendly bet in which Ares challenged him to compete with Assis in swordsmithing.
