Better Life Choices

~Chapter 32~

"Well, that did not go as I had hoped," Mae muttered as she walked down the street, chewing on the end of her thumb, Baasdefen and Hidai on either side of her.

Having just left the headquarters of the Kaldi'fa mercenary guild, Mae was feeling less than enthused about the position she was in, but yet again, circumstances had left her little choice. There may have been other options out there, but how much time would she waste trying to find them, and would they end up being any less troublesome in the end?

"Oh? And what were you expecting?"

"A lot less questions for starters. I already have two problems to concern myself with, I did not need another. But now she's curious and clearly didn't accept my answer as being good enough."

Baasdefen laughed, "I'm curious to. Don't you see me as a problem?"

"Not in the least," she replied without missing a beat, so deep in thought that she wasn't really paying attention.
