~Chapter 116~

When morning came, Mae and Kyurn were outside, enjoying their tea by the glowing ember remains of the previous night's fire, when Ven stumbled out from their wagon with a heavy laden groan. Mae knew well what he felt like, having watched him take a few too many drinks the night before. But she was thankful. His suffering was but a small price to pay for loosening the lips of the Viscero, without having to resort to her usual methods. Which, while exceedingly effective, could also be a problem in situations like this; for while a drunk knows talking too much is their own fault, the drugged tend to justify their blabbing with accusations and declarations of innocents to anyone who will listen. A vengeful Viscero being a problem they didn't need. And if history had proven anything to Mae, problem management was bloody, unenjoyable business.
