The Councils Chamber

~Chapter 179~

"Are you ready?" Mae questioned Baas, straightening his ascot as they stood in a hallway before a large, closed, stone door.

"As ready I can be," he replied, grabbing her hands and pulling them down. "You've fussed enough. There is nothing you can do to make me look any less ridiculous."

"Ridiculous is not exactly the word I would use," she said, her eyes fixed upon the way his fingers interlaced with hers. "This is the first time I've gotten to see you in proper dress robes. And while I admit that I prefer you in your leathers or casual attire, because these don't suit you in any way, they also don't look bad on you. I would just ditch the ascot first. Sadly, I wasn't about to let you walk in there dressed as the rest of the council. While I might enjoy that view, no one else has any right to it. Grimace all you want; it was this or nothing."
