"Are you certain that you remember nothing of relevance?" Detective Noon remarked, now that he and his partner, detective Zakis were alone in the hospital room with Mae.

"Nothing," Mae replied, refusing to look away from him.

Noon nodded, closing his notepad and placing it back in his pocket. "Okay, Ms. Foedari. I need you to be completely honest with us now. Did you leave of your own volition?"

"No. I didn't go willingly or by choice, but what I remember happening, to you, it won't be possible."

"Why don't you tell us what you remember, and you let us decide what we think," Zakis said as she moved to the bed and took up residence in Jack's now vacant chair.
