The Knowledge of a True Heir

All of the people who entered quickly kneed and bowed to their leaders and superiors, Ainz looked at them and there was a sudden red glow in his eyes. "State your report", ordered Ainz.

"Yes, Lord", the members of the trailing team said in unison.

One of the Vampire Brides spoke, "Lord after you assigned us our mission, we trailed Sebas's and Shaltears carriage. Once they separated routes our team split as well, our group was the one who encountered the incident."

"What happened?", Ainz asked.

"Once Lady Shalltear encountered the adventurers she headed into a cave further in the mountain. Once she was there we made sure to be at an area where we couldn't be exposed. That is where we saw them, two different groups. One of them was a simple adventure group, they were called by a man that had managed to survive Shalltears assault. The second group was different, they seemed like a group of special warriors", she said.

"Please explain in detail", Filius asked.

"Yes Lord, these people wore high-level equipment, some wore special armor and robes, they contained special powers and abilities. Then once Shalltear noticed that she missed one person from the men she attacked she sent her household to scout, this group of warriors instantly killed her summons. Then she went to attack this group herself, the group tried attacking her, but they failed. Shalltear managed to kill two of them but the rest still lived, Lady Shalltear then stood there in place staring at the floor", the Vampire Bride said.

"What happened to this group?", ordered Ainz.

"Nothing, they retreated once their comrades were killed after that Lady Shalltear was still stuck there", she said.

"Hmm, probably they tried using some sort of mind control", Filius said as he looked at his father.

"Yes, but what the real question is, why did they leave her there?", Albedo asked.

Filius quickly formed an idea, he then turned to the Vampire Bride, "Who was the one who casted magic or attacked Shalltear first? Were they still alive or were they killed by Shalltear?"

The Vampire Bride nodded, "Yes, the humans that attacked Lady Shalltear were killed, except for one man. Though this human didn't use any magic, the only other human who used magic was killed by Lady Shalltear."

Filius quickly formed the connection and turned to Albedo, "Now I see. It may be that the magic user was killed before she could fully control Shalltear. So they left knowing that they couldn't do anything leaving her in an independent state."

"Yes, Young Lord, your theory is the most likely", Albedo said.

"So that means that Shalltear isn't fully controlled but also that she isn't under our control", Ainz said, [Thats a problem.] He then turned to the screen in front of him, [They have a point. If we were still in Yggdrasil, this status marker would indicate that a third party had used mind control magic and temporarily turned our NPC into an enemy. Though that should be impossible since Shalltear is undead. Also, she has a skill that nullifies all forms of mind control instantly. But if it were a special mind control spell, skill, or ability that can work regardless of any preventive measures then that is something else.] He then turned to Filius, "Son, from what we've gathered, there are talents and martial arts in this world that did not exist in Yggdrasil. Which of the latter do you think was?"

"If I may speak freely, Father?", Filius asked

Ainz nodded, "Yes, speak."

"Father, I believe that if someone was able to take control or mess with the free will of someone like Shalltear with her skills we should consider it a high-level skill or a World level Item. It isn't paranoid to be cautious", Filius stated.

"However that doesn't change the fact that she is now not part of Nazarick, if she isn't even able to come to Nazarick we can consider her an enemy. I suggest we send a hunting party to deal with her, immediately", Albedo stated as she looked at Ainz. "I will lead our forces. Cocytus and Mare will accompany me as vice-commanders, we'll need that much to take Shalltear down. Her strength is formidable", Albedo suggested.

"No, that will not be enough, Shalltear even though she might be under a mind-control spell she will be able to know of your weaknesses just like she would know of Mare's and Cocytus's. She will fight using her knowledge to her advantage. You have no chance", Filius said.

Albedo was stunned, "Young Master? Then what will we do, we can't just leave her like that, she has revolted against Nazarick, against Lord Ainz, your father. She must pay against crimes!"

"Enough Albedo! Remember your place!", Filius yelled, after she stopped she closed her eyes and stepped back, Filius then turned to his father, "Father, we must not do anything hasty. We need to do some reconnaissance and then see if we can remove that mind control so we can see how strong this world's magic item or abilities can get to. Please, Father."

Ainz was shocked by his son, first that he was able to use his higher status so easily unlike him, and how he could formulate so many ideas and plans that accounted for everything in the moment. He was proud that he and Herohero had made him with the best characteristics.

Ainz nodded, "Indeed, I will go with your suggestion Filius. We will confirm whether she has revolted of her own free will or not. And see how strong this power is, if it can control her." Ainz was worried a bit, [If something like this can happen to the NPCs, I need to out what it is and how to counter it], he then gripped his throne, this didn't go unnoticed by Filius, [Or Nazarick will crumble.]

Ainz then spoke to them once more to make a plan of what they would do. Albedo would be in charge of strengthening the defenses of Nazarick and their communication with the rest of the NPC's outside of Nazarick. While Filius would go to Demiurge to make a plan in finding the area where Shalltear was last. After that, they were both dismissed since Ainz wanted to be alone in his quarters.

After Filius and Albedo walked out, they kept on walking to the hall. Filius then spoke, "Albedo."

Albedo stopped and looked at the Young Master.

"I understand that you care for my Father and that you are his woman. I know you have a rivalry with Shalltear as well, but never let that get in the way of Nazarick's safety!", Filius ordered, Albedo was a little stunned by his outburst but she listened, "Remember, my father has ordered everyone to not follow his orders blindly and to make decisions based on everything we have. That also refers to when we give suggestions or ideas. You acted upon your rivalry and jealousy rather than logic and analytical information, that is something unacceptable. This is an order, from now on, every action you take you must see the best way to do it and how it will benefit us, every suggestion, you must think of the best way for it to help us, never base your actions or suggestions on feelings, that is if you aren't asked of them", Filius said, he then turned around and walked away.

Albedo stood there, inputting everything in, she felt bad for not thinking things through. She had made a bad suggestion that put Nazarick at risk and the Young Master was there to correct her, she was worried that her beloved master would think less of her for failing to make the right plan. She was in a depressed and inspired state now, she had a lot to think and work on.

Filius quickly walked to an area on the 8th floor where he needed to meet someone. Behind him followed one of his maids per usual in Nazarick.

"Young Master, if I may ask? Why do you always do this?", asked his maid

Filius turned his head a bit but kept walking, "What do you mean?"

"Why do you always go and personally meet with your subordinates rather than just call for them to meet you in your study? We as servants of the tomb must follow any order you and the Supreme Being, Lord Ainz, orders us to do", the maid named Alice said.

"This isn't just about using my status to make them do things, what I do isn't a waste of time. I do this so I can see what they do when their Lords aren't watching them, if I were to just call them I wouldn't know if they were actually working or just loafing. Then the second reason is moral, when I visit them instead of then seeing me they will get inspired even more, it will cause a better effect and make them willing to do more things full-heartedly", Filius said.

Alice was stunned, she never knew that there were so many hidden effects from just walking to meet followers, this Lord, her master's son was worthy of being the next great successor of The Great Tomb, "I'm sorry Young Master, I never knew that you were always thinking about things like that, truly you are the most genius person."

"Hahaha, no, I am not, my father takes that place, he is wise beyond my years. He knows everything about everything and he has the power to change things with a flick of a finger, I can not match up to him. He is a supreme being, sure I am his son, but I cannot create worlds like he can, or create living creatures as he has. I am unworthy of being called a supreme being, but I will do everything to ensure that everyone is safe and under my protection, that includes even you Alice", Filius said.

Filius then heard a drop, he then turned around and saw Alice on her knees with tears in her eyes, "Young Master....", she sniffed, "I am beyond grateful that a Lord like you knows of this lowly maids name. I cannot express how grateful I am that you are willing to consider our feelings even though we are your servants. I will follow you wherever you need me, I will devote myself to you and Lord Ainz faithfully, all we ask is that you will stay with us and let us serve you, Master", Alice said in tears.

Filius smiled and stood tall, "I accept your devotion and faith, I swear on The Great Tomb of Nazarick I will protect you and all of the people in Nazarick. You aren't just servants you are family that was created by the Supremes, I will make sure that their creations are safe and that their memory lasts even in the afterlife."

The maid Alice smiled and nodded, "Thank you, Master. I will follow any order you ask."

Filius nodded, "Come we need to get working"

Alice nodded and stood up, she then made sure to tidy herself up. Filius continued walking down the hall and she followed. As they continued walking on the 8th floor she noticed that they were going towards the Cherry Blossom Sanctuary.

As they walked to the door of the sanctuary the doors started opening by themselves, then in front of the iron gates stood 2 maids. At first, they were shocked that the Young Master was here, but he ordered them to show him where the Leader of the Pleiades was at. One of the maids walked through the sanctuary and showed them where the person was at.

There she was a girl with short black hair and a blindfold over her eyes. Her outfit was a beautiful Japanese priest outfit, she was Aureole Omega the Leader of the Pleiades. She was also the only human in the Great Tomb of Nazarick.

She then noticed him looking at her, she was currently talking to another priest when she saw him. She quickly stopped talking and approached him, she then bowed when she reached him, "Young Master, it's an honor to see you. But you shouldn't have personally come and wasted your precious time, you could have called us and we would come."

"I have my reasons", Alice was happy knowing about these reasons, "I wanted to speak with you Aureole", Filius said.

Aureole did a small bow, "Hai", Filius and her walked towards the shrine but they were headed behind it. Behind it was a big house, where they would talk, once they reached there they entered and sat down in the meeting hall.

"Young Master what is it that you wanted to speak to me about?", she asked.

"I need you to manage something, to be specific, it's the Mirror of Remote Viewing. I wanted you to do three major things", He said, Aureole quickly stood straight and paid attention. "One, you need to find Shalltear Bloodfallen."

Aureole was confused, "The floor guardian? Is there a reason why? and may I know it?"

"Yes", Filius nodded, "Shalltear was sent on a mission to the human world, but then we lost contact with her, the trailing group reported what they saw and we figured out she was attacked by humans, we have reason to believe that Shalltear was mind-controlled. But due to the magic-user dying, she is just standing there without any movement of thoughts."

"I see", Aureole said.

"Next you need to map the area outside of Nazarick. Every river every mountain and every slope, I need everything marked, this will be in a protective measure to help Nazarick", Filius said.

"Young master do you want everything made in color as well, so we depict areas with barren land or not? What about the small villages like one near the swamp or rivers, what about individual houses?", Aureole asked.

"Great, that would be perfect. Next, I want you to map another thing, the individual cities, I want a full detailed map of the cities as well", Filius said.

"It shall be done", Arueole said with a bow.

"Here", Filius then pulled out the Mirror from a dimensional space and gave it to her. "Also you should have this, it will make you be able to deliver your reports faster to my office", he then manifested out a ring, but not just any ring, it was the ring of Ainz Ooal Gown.

"That's a ring of Ainz Ooal Gown! I cant accept that!", Aureole said.

"Like I said this will be necessary if you ever have a report to give me. This will help you give it to me quicker", Filius said, "Now take it and if you do a good job consider it as a reward."

Aureole smiled and then picked up the ring she then placed it on her finger and the ring suddenly adjusted to her finger. Her face grew a smile, she then bowed, "I swear on this gift that I will do everything to be worth its value."

Filius nodded and stood up, "I will now take my leave", he then turned to Alice, "Alice let's go."

He then activated a gate and walked through and behind him followed his maid Alice.

The next day.......

Aureole was speedwalking to the study, she had just discovered something shocking on the mirror of remote viewing, she had made sure to record what she witnessed and was currently walking to the young master's study.

Once she reached the study she knocked on the door after a few seconds the door was opened by Alice the personal maid of Filius.

"Aureole, what is it that you need?", asked Alice.

"I need to root something to Master Filius from his previous orders", Arueole stated.

Alice nodded and walked her to the next door and then she opened it, both women entered the room, and there he was. Filius was sitting at his desk writing some things.

Filius was writing and creating some theories and ideas he had for Nazarick. Then he heard footsteps and looked away from his work. He saw Alice and Aureole approaching him, "Alice, Aureole what brings you here?"

Aureole stepped forward, "Young Master, I wanted to report something that happened yesterday during my search through the Mirror of Remote Viewing."

"What did you see?", Filius asked.

"As you ordered, I started looking around the New World and mapping out the layout as well as looking for Lady Shalltear when I found something", she then placed the recording orb on the table, "I found the location of where Lady Shalltear was at."

Filius was surprised, she had actually found Shalltear real quick, "That's great news, please give me the exact coordinates of her location."

"Young Master that's not the only thing that happened", Aureole then placed her hands on the orb, and then the image fast-forwarded a bit, he then saw it.

It was a paladin in light blue armor, he seemed covered from head to toe in it, around him were four weapons, a pear, a greatsword, a war hammer, and a katana. He was flying in the air and approached Shalltear's frozen body, then Shalltear looked up and out of nowhere, she attacked it. The Paladin tried retreating but he was stabbed, then he used his four weapons and slammed her down, he then quickly fled and Shalltear once again just stood still.

"This all occurred yesterday?", Filius asked Aureole.

She nodded, "Yes, it was early in the day."

"If I may ask a question Master?", Alice spoke.

Filius looked at her and nodded, "Speak."

"I am wondering why did Lady Shalltear attack him so suddenly without provocation?", Alice asked, Arueole also nodded as if asking the same.

"Shalltear was under a mind-control spell attack, but the magic-user that cast it was dead leaving her in a neutral zone, where she won't obey but also won't rebel", he then remembered something his father told him about one on one duels or how he called it PVP, Player vs Player. His father told him that when he faced an opponent the enemy would never attack if it was just face to face, it would only attack when you attacked with magic or physical attacks. So maybe she was in that state, but what would trigger it, from what he saw the Paladin never attacked he just approached her. He then saw the floating weapons, [That must've been the cause], he then suddenly got a memory.

"I was wondering, where did the name (Swords of Darkness) come from?", Ainz asked as he was curious about the origins of the party.

"Anyway. It's a reference to the old legends, The Thirteen heroes. We named our party after the swords of one of the fabled warriors", Peter stated. They all just looked at the trio, expecting them to know that legend.

"The legend says that before the great empires were built, the world was in havoc. The evil deities wanted the mortals of this world to be annihilated, for many years that was everyone's fate. Then suddenly appeared the thirteen warriors, they were powerful beings with the ability to kill the deities. After a fierce battle they managed to finally kill the evil deities and brought peace to our world", Dyne said.

"Interesting", Filius whispered.

"Among The Thirteen Heroes, there was one called the (Black knight) who wielded four powerful swords known only as (The Swords of Darkness)", Ninya added.

Filius then turned to the Orb of Recording once more in a bit of shock, [Four swords? The wielder of the swords of Darkness? Can it be him? Legends and myths are never accurate so there is a chance that's him. If it is, then we have a problem.]
