Filius was in his study reviewing some information that his servants had given him the day before.
For the past few days, Filius had been testing his theory of magic for various races. He had made a demon, a maid, an insectoid, and a vampire try and practice his theory. So far the practice of quick whisper chanting and the addition of multiple spells ended up being a great success. The issue after that was the massive mana consumption, though they could get around it by providing enchanted equipment with mana restoration magic.
While he was reviewing the paper, he heard a knock at the door. Lupisregina, who was the maid taking care of him that day, opened the door and in front of the door was Yuri, the eldest sister of the Pleiades.
"Hello Yuri", Filius said, "Thank you for your help today Lupy."
Lupisregina smiled and walked to him, "You welcome Young Master~", she said before kissing him on the cheek. Yuri who was watching became flush, she couldn't believe what she was seeing, her sister was being disgraceful to Young Master Filius.
"Lupus! How dare you be so disgraceful towards the Young Master!", Yuri yelled with a blush.
"Wh-what did I do this time?", Lupus jumped in shock.
"It's fine Lupus, Yuri, have you forgotten my decree", Filius interjected. Yuri calmed down and remembered all the orders and decrees Filius had demanded, "I specifically stated to the Pleiades, that you will no longer be simple maids but my fiances and future mother of the heir to this New World. To become a united family, as humans have, we need to be comfortable around one another and be a lot more intimate. Lupus is just obeying that decree, so I allow her to just be herself."
Lupus winked towards her sister, she turned to Filius again and bowed, "I will be taking my leave Filius-sama, I hope you have a great rest of your day."
"Thank you, oh and before you leave", Filius stood up and walked in front of Lupus.
"Young Master?", Lupus wondered what she did.
Filius wrapped his arm around Lupus's waist, pulled her in, and kissed her.
Lupus's eyes shot open but then fluttered before leaning in deeper into the kiss. After a few seconds, Filius finally let her go, and Lupus left with both hands on her cheek blushing like crazy.
Yuri, who saw the whole thing, also became flush from embarrassment, she never thought that a servant and a master would be allowed to do such intimate things. But she also knew that for future heirs to be born, worthy women needed to be found, and luckily they were the only women worthy for the Young Master.
"Please come in Yuri", Filius invited Yuri to stand by his side instead of at the door.
Once Yuri was beside his desk in the study, Filius continued speaking with her, "I believe you have something to inform me about?"
Yuri nodded, "Yes, Aura's beast has kept detailed reconnaissance on the human named Gazef. And the shadow demons have information before of his whereabout before teleporting to the location."
"Status report?", Filius asked.
"The shadow demons have confirmed, that the human named Gazef, hadn't made contact with anyone before his teleportation to Mare's dungeon", Yuri stated.
"I see, that's perfect", Filius smiled internally, "So tell me the report on his condition currently."
"Yes", Yuri bowed and looked at her young master once more, "He has discovered the book."
Filius's demon face grew a wide smile, he turned to Yuri and his bright brown eyes became red, "We got him."
Earlier that day...
Gazef had red the spell and had teleported to that location, when he arrived he was stunned by what he saw.
All around him were rock walls and canyons, the vibrant red yellow, and orange colors blended to create a beautiful new color. As he walked to the cliff's ledge, he saw everything and was in awe.
Grrrrrr!
He stood still when he heard that noise, immediately he sensed a killing intent, whatever was behind him, wasn't friendly.
He slowly grabbed his sword and prepared if anything happened, he slowly turned his head to the side and there he saw it. The thing behind him was a giant monstrous insect, it was half his size. It had a jaw with sharp razor teeth and two massive claws, it also had a stinger just like a bee and could also fly.
Quickly reacted and instantly slashed right through the insect monster. "Huh, that was surprisingly weak", Gazef wiped his sword and placed it back inside its scabbard.
He started walking a bit but then he heard a buzzing, he looked around but he didn't see anything. He stopped walking and realized where that sound was coming from behind him.
He slowly turned his head, he turned around completely and his eyes opened wide. Behind him was a swarm of those insect monsters.
Gazef sighed, "Motherfucker"
Back in the Re-Estize kingdom.....
King Ramposa was sitting in his study reviewing some documents about the nobles, he sighed and turned to his maid, "Luzan, where is Gazef today?"
"If I remember correctly, you gave him the day off", the maid named Luzan said.
"Oh, did I now, I must've forgotten. I hope he enjoys his day off", King Ramposa said as he continued with his work.
Back with Gazef.....
Gazef was huffing from exhaustion, his body was dripping sweat from all over, his clothes were drenched due to all the sweat. He had many wounds on his body, mostly scratches, and bites from facing the swarm of insect monsters, thankfully their attacks didn't involve poison.
The swarm of insects he faced was all sprawled around him, some were split in two while others were beheaded or cut into pieces. He was in the center of all the dead monsters, since he felt no more monster presences, he fell on his ass exhausted.
BZZZZZZZ!
Gazef's eyes opened wide once more, he turned to his left and from the corner of a rock wall, he saw another swarm of monsters.
Gazef quickly got on his feet and started running away, "You have to be kidding me!"
The warrior followed the path he had in front of him, it was just the of the ledge of the canyon, but it was the only path he had. Running as fast as he could, he made it to a dead end, he saw a bridge right in front of him or it looked like one. The bride was actually a five-inch wide bridge that went from one side of the canyon to the other. The head warrior knew that if he took that path, the swarm of monsters would surround him and overwhelm him, he would either die from falling or be killed just trying to cross.
"Think, damn it, think", Gazef looked at the ledge and then at the wall on his left side. When he looked up at the wall he saw an opening that was about ten feet diagonally above him, he quickly measured it and confirmed it was wide enough for him to fit inside.
Three minutes later, the swarm of bees continued their path thinking that their target might've run away.
The buzzing sound of flying bugs was getting fainter and fainter, Gazelf popped his head out from the hole to see if he was in the clear.
"Finally...", Gazef sighed of relief, "I wonder where is this place?"
Gazef noticed that he was inside a small cave, he was barely at the entrance so he didn't know what could be inside, "Should I go in deeper?", he asked himself. He did have some equipment, but he didn't have a torch, all he had for cave exploration was a luminescent plant that glowed in the dark.
"Let's see what I find", Gazef started crawling deeper inside, after a while of crawling he started hearing some wind. The wind would indicate an opening of some sorts, as he continued crawling, he could feel the fresh air and the moisture it had.
Finally, after crawling for a bit more, he made it to the end, when he reached the opening he was amazed by the sight. Inside the cave opening, was a lush garden of green vibrant plants, the ceiling had some holes which let sunlight in, lighting up the cave.
The cave walls were covered in dark blue and purple flowers, they looked so beautiful as if the gods themselves granted them blessings. The head warrior then noticed that at the center of the cave opening was, directly where the opening in the ceiling was, was a hill and at the top was a pedestal. Gazef carefully walked to the pedestal, as he took the first step forward, all the plants in his way started parting away as if letting him through.
He started walking up the hill, as was getting closer to the pedestal, he noticed something strange, around the pedestal, was a circle with a diameter of five feet. Within the circle there were no green plants, instead, all the plants were black as if life was sucked from them, even the ground was dry as sand. Gazef wondered what this phenomenon was, he knew something like this wasn't natural, he turned to look at the pedestal. Around the pedestal were two types of vines, one was lush and had flowers while the other side had black dead vines.
On top of it was a giant book about half his size, the book was covered by two hands made of stones, one of the stones was that of a skeleton's and the other was that of a youthful hand. Both hands could be only described as works of art, not even the best masons in Re-Estize could do such work, that's how incredible this stone pedestal was.
Gazef stood before the pedestal and carefully inspected it, he wondered who would have created such a book, first it was half a human's height and it was in this remote area. He knew the guardian sent him here, but he was just told that here he would find the tools he needed in order to save his home and his king's kingdom.
"I wonder if the guardian knew this was here, he says he guards the river of souls, so maybe he doesn't know about this book", Gazef carefully touched the book.
He placed his hand on top of the book but nothing happened, "I see."
Gazef using both his hands grabbed the book, and immediately the book shrunk, Gazef was started at first but when he realized it was just magic that made the book shrink he relaxed. He felt like the mass of the book fit him perfectly, "That's some convenient magic."
Gazef looked at the cover of the book, the book had an old leather cover in the center, the cover had an angel and a grim reaper back to back of one another. The book cover had golden corners and had a strap that kept it closed.
"This seems valuable", Gazef carefully picked it up and put it away in his pouch, "I'll read it later, right now I need to find that armor."
After looking around a bit more and not finding anything else, he left the cave, when he made it back to the trail, he made sure there were no enemies around.
He looked at the five-inch wide bridge, "Gulp", he carefully took his first step. He took a deep breath and continued walking, step by step he made sure to solely focus on getting to the other side.
Crack!
Gazef looked over his shoulder and something he didn't want to happen, happened, the side he had just crossed had started cracking.
Crack!
Gazef started sprinting as the bridge started cracking and breaking apart, "This whole thing better worth it!" As the collapse almost reached his feet, he quickly just and managed to grab on the ledge before he fell to his death.
"Damn it!", Gazef yelled at himself, he realized that he was heavier than he thought, returning back to reality he swiftly pulled himself up to the ledge.
After sighing with relief he stood up and continued walking down the path, he walked for about an hour and thirty minutes. During his travel, he encountered more of the insect monsters some were stronger than others, but he managed to get through them. After finally following the whole path, he ended up at the bottom of the canyon. He was glad that he didn't have to worry about falling during a fight anymore, but he was still cautious since his journey wasn't done.
As he walked down the small stream within the canyon, he noticed that he was reaching the end, the end of the canyon was actually the foot of the mountain before him. As he continued moving forward he noticed an opening at the end of the canyon.
"Another cave, maybe this is it", Gazef hurried walking inside.
As walked inside, he noticed right away that this was the correct place, at the entrance of the cave was a torch indicating a passage. Gazef grabbed the torch and using a flint he ignited it, thankfully the torch was dry enough to catch the spark.
Walking inside the cave he wondered if he might've entered a monster den, if he did then he just had to defeat them. After a while he finally reached the end, in front of him was an old structure, the structure was surrounded by Lava which lit the area around it.
The structure was composed of greek style pillars forming a circle, the path in front of him appeared to be man-made. Gazef was in awe by the beautiful architecture, that's where he saw it, the most incredible armor he had seen. It was being worn by a mannequin, at his hip side, it had its sword and scabbard, in both of its hands were two axes made to fit the wielder perfectly.
As Gazef walked closer to get a better look at the armor, he had never seen anything like it before, he wondered what were its origins.
Shlank!
Gazef looked at the path he had taken to enter the structure, the path had been blocked by spears that came from the ground. Gazef walked to the spears, they were twice as tall as him, and they were tightly placed together, Gzaef knew he wouldn't be able to climb the spears or go through them. He decided he could destroy them, they must've been old and rusted from the years of being abandoned was what he thought.
He took out his sword and using half his power, he slashed at the metal spears, but nothing, nothing happened, the spears were still standing strong.
Step! Step!
Gazef stopped his movements and immediately turned around with his sword out in front of him.
The thing that just moved wasn't a monster or human, it was the mannequin.
"I see, I guess it wouldn't be that easy would it", Gazef saw how the mannequin moved it was if it was actually alive, most likely it was a defense mechanism to prevent tomb raiders or thieves.
The mannequin scrapped the edges of the ax's blades together, Gazef grinned widely, "Another fight. Let's go!", he yelled.
