Chapter 87

"Well..." Carnage paused, walking beside Luthor and looking at the city. Though it was night, the city was still awake, skyscrapers shining their bright lights, the noise of cars, police sirens. "You are right."

"What!?" Luthor was astonished. He didn't expect himself to be right and just asked the question to start up a conversation. Who knew he was right. "It was because you felt... guilty?"

"Yes." Carnage sincerely answered, watching as Supergirl flew past the window with a sonic boom, going towards the police serin in the distance. "I was a normal human who woke up one day then decided to start killing. I neither have a mental illness like Joker or a demi-god like Wonder Woman. Just a normal, sain guy who wanted to start killing."

Looking at Luthor's reflection in the window, Carnage saw him wide-eyed, staring at his back without blinking. "No matter how I enjoyed killing, they were still humans. Of course, I didn't stop, and when I gained my speed, the killing further escalated." Carnage sighed, holding the bridge of his nose. "Although I enjoyed it, breaking, torturing, experimenting on humans was killing me. When I saw the vision from another timeline where I settled down, becoming a hero-"

"You? Became a hero!? You must be joking, right?" Luthor asked, chuckling. I mean, how can Carnage become a hero? "I find that hard to believe."

"I am not joking." Carnage said, his upper lips curling up in disgust. "I can't believe I stoop that low because of emotions. I had a goal. Emotion was a great weakness. I had to get rid of it."

"So when you transformed yourself into a Kree, you got rid of them," Luthor mumbled, fully understanding where Carnage was coming from. Without getting rid of the thing blocking the road, there is no way for you to go past. Although you can take another longer path, it isn't efficient.

"You get it." Carnage said, turning around to face Luthor, no trace of emotion on his face. "Got rid of it all. Love, hatred, guilt, empathy, pity. All of it. Anything that would hold me back is no more. Of course, I left anger and fear. They are the driving force of power after all."

Luthor said nothing and kept staring at Carnage with a calm face. The room was silent for minutes, Supergirl flying past from the crim scene before Luthor finally spoke. "Why did you tell me all this?"

"We will be working together for years to come. Unlike my last partner, I wish to have at least a tiny bit of trust in you as we will be working on top-secret things." Carnage said, looking back at the city. "Without a little bit of trust, I may just end your life."

Luthor was silent before bursting into laughter. Stopping, he brought out his hands, "Let's work together, partner."

"For sure." Carnage grinned, shaking Luthor's hand. "Now, tell me a little bit about yourself."

Carnage laid on a kingsize bed inside one of the many rooms in his mountain in the south pole. His brain was currently working on overdrive, going through millions of procedures on how to create C-2. He wants to make this one better, perfect and use it as an experiment to get rid of his weakness to fire. Though the second skin makes him immune to fire or heat as hot as the surface of the sun, he doesn't want to rely on that too much, seeing as it can't regenerate.

Suddenly, he disappeared and appeared on a wide platform with 9 black Jets of different kinds parked on it. The platform could handle many more planes, even multiple cargo plans. Above the platform was the wide opening of the volcano-shaped mountain. Looking up, he saw an Airbus Beluga XL floating in the sky.

One of the many doors opened, Luthor jumping out, landing beside Carnage. "That contains 2 billion dollars satellite. There are also 5 more coming over as we speak, a total of 12 billion. All six of them combined will cover all the circumference of the earth with no blind spot." Luthor confidently said, looking up at the plane. "I was planning on using it for my company but decided to hand them to you, as thanks for making me a Kree."

Although Carnage doesn't trust Luthor, refusing an offer like this was stupid. But he will still be building his own satellites in the future, but those weren't the main priorities. "These will do." Carnage said, looking over to Luthor.

"Get ready for lunch. Anywhere will do, but it has to be in the south pole." Luthor ordered into an earpiece he was wearing.

"What were all those plain I saw outside?" Cheetah asked, appearing beside them with a blur, C-1 slowly walking towards them. C-1 wore casual black pants and a hoodie, the hood on, her head buried on her phone.

"Satellites." Carnage looked back at C-1, frowning, "What mess did you guys make?"

"We made no mess." Cheetah blurted out, looking over to Carnage.

"I can smell blood on both of you. What happened?" Carnage asked, looking over to Cheetah, his red eyes turning yellow for a split second.

"A guy flirted with us. I ripped his heart out and ate it. Supergirl came. We fought and escaped." C-1 quietly said, putting the phone in her pocket.

"There is nothing wrong with that, right?" Cheetah asked, slowly moving back, getting ready to run. She isn't ready to die. 'No, wait... He can catch me.'

"Hahaha, no. If you were captured? That would be a different story." Carnage laughed, walking away. 'So she can't defeat Supergirl. Good to know. This brings up a question. How strong are the Kryptonians?'

"He is acting like an overprotective father," Cheetah whispered to Luthor. Luthor looked at her before moving away to talk to the person on the other side of the earpiece.

"I will be going to meet the Justice League. Anything to watch out for?" Carnage suddenly asked, turning around.

"Why? You obviously know it is a trap. What? Have you fell in love with Wonder Woman?" Cheetah chuckled. Looking at Carnage, she noticed no change in his expression, causing her to sigh. "You are no fun. Talking to Batman would be better."

"Except Wonder Woman lasso of truth, I don't see what you should watch out for." Cheetah continued, recalling some bad memories from the lasso of truth.

"Good to know. Tell Joker to stop playing with that fighter jet. He will crash it." Carnage said, walking away. 'Lasso of Truth, huh... I should take it when I meet them.'
