Chapter 126

Sentry entered a small flat located on the second floor of a blue building in Brooklyn, New York. The apartment is somewhat cluttered with discarded food containers and beer bottles. There is a desk in the southeast corner containing a computer, and a bed is set in an alcove on the north wall. To the left of the bed is a doorway leading to a small bathroom and beside the door was a small window, covered by a brown tattered curtain.

Walking to the window, he pulled open the curtain, reviling a window that has a shutter and overlooks several other buildings. Turning around, he faced the bed where a young girl laid. She has pale, grayish-white skin and somewhat thick eyebrows. She has straight, angled, violet hair and a red gemstone outlined in black located in the center of her forehead. She wears a hooded navy-blue cloak, matching ruffled ankle boots with grayish-black soles, and a long-sleeve dark navy-blue leotard with regular navy-blue cuffs. Her cloak is decorated with a round, crimson jewel, which helps keep the cloak shut.

Walking beside her, Sentry stared at the gemstone on her head. 'Just like father said, I feel a strange force coming from it.' He thought, reaching towards it.

Just then, the girl opened her eyes, and Sentry quickly moves at super speed, acting like he was looking out the window. She groaned, rubbing the back of her head, looking around. She stopped at Sentry, immediately launching multiple bottles and containers at him. Strong pressure was released from his body, all the containers dropping to the ground before they could reach her.

Seeing this, she jumped off the bed, black energy covering the bed as she raised it above her. "Who are you and where am I?" She asked with a calm voice, inspecting the man in front of her.

"Brooklyn, New York." Sentry said as he turned to face her. "Hello, Raven. My name is Sentry, and I am your savior."

Hearing that, Raven remembered that she and the Titians were fighting a villain. She was knocked out before she could do anything. "Where are the others?" She asked, trying to push away negative thoughts of what might have happened to them.

Sentry stayed silent for a while before looking down, "I am sorry... they are dead..."

"Wha..." Her breath caught in her throat as she tried not to break down. She had thought of the worst, but hearing it was far worst than she would have thought.

She fell on her knee, losing control over her power. The bed dropped to the ground, the legs breaking as red auras started flowing around her body, her eyes are glowing red. Sentry started feeling a bad omen coming from Raven, which caused him to actually shiver in fear for the second time, the first being when he first met Impulse. An invisible orb suddenly surrounded the room, keeping the energy flowing out of Raven in check. He then appeared behind her, placing his palm on her forehead. He then used the ability he copied from Impulse, connecting his body with hers and tempering with her emotions, calming her down.

The red energy returned to Raven's body as she fell back, unconscious. Sentry removed his hand from her head, grateful he felt no resistance when tempering with her emotions. He was curious about the entity which was about to be released from the girl's body, but he wasn't stupid enough to let it come out.

Raven quickly regained consciousness, sitting up and placing her cloak above her head. Sentry decided not to bother her and began to clean up the room. He put all the discarded food containers and beer bottles into a bag before placing the bag beside the door that led outside.

"Where is that man?" Raven finally spoke with a monotonous voice.

"If you are thinking of going after him, you are out of your league." Sentry said, looking at her. "Even with that unknown entity within you, he would demolish you." He might have said that, but he thinks that the entity is either around similar strength as his father or stronger. He wouldn't tell her that, as stalling her revenge would give him more time to get close to her.

"I doubt that." She said, getting off the bed and walking towards Sentry. "Now, WHERE IS HE!" She shouted in a deep demonic voice, the entire room turning pitch black except for Raven and Sentry's eyes, which were glowing red.

"I don't know." Sentry calmly said, confident in his strength. If anything goes wrong, he could always run.

The room returned to its normal condition, with Raven's eyes returning to normal. She knew this man was saying the truth due to her empathetic ability to sense the emotions of others, allowing her to gain insight into their thoughts and intentions.

"Out of my way." She said, with Sentry complying and moving out the way.

"You will be wasting your time going after him. Asking the league would accomplish nothing. They will just be feeding him more abilities." Sentry said, looking at her as she walked past him.

She stopped beside Sentry as she was about to open the door, "What do you mean?" She asked without looking at him.

"He can gain the ability of those he eats." Sentry explained, rubbing the back of his neck. "The Justice League combined would be able to take him down, but what's the point if they can't kill him? Like before, he would escape, kill them one by one, and get stronger."

Out of what Sentry said, one word caught her attention. "Before?" She asked, looking up at him.

"Yeah. After he escaped, he ate one of their members, gaining his knowledge, and coming after your team. He planned to eat you to gain your ability, but I saved you before he could." Sentry replied with a yawn.

"How do you know all this?" She asked, finding it strange how someone who isn't part of the Justice League could know all this.

Sentry said nothing, looking away. Seeing this, anger started building up in Raven as thick black tendrils shoot toward him from under her cloak, hitting his chest and slamming him into the wall.

"How do you know this!?" She shouted, floating up into the air.

Sentry released his telekinetic power bringing her to her knees. Although his telekinetic power isn't that strong, things like pulling a celestial object are no problem. Black energy engulfed Raven's body as she transformed into a black energy bird, escaping the telekinetic hold. She then transformed back into her human form, covering her fist with dark energy and attacking Sentry.

"Please calm down. I don't wish to hurt you." Sentry said, grabbing her wrist and stoping her movement with his telekinetic power. This time, she couldn't move an inch, stopping her from using any of her power. "We both have a secret we want to keep."

He released her, pushing her away. Raven said nothing, opening the door and flying into the sky. Sentry sighed, running his hands through his red hair.

'This would be harder than I thought.' He thought looking at her fly into the sky.
